$444 for a single nose bleed ticket in a huge arena in Mexico? I believe if he is added, he'll be a headliner. gotdamn.
When I lived in Mexico they often used the $ sign even if it was pesos, so I may be wrong but this could very well be $35 (US) for a nosebleed seat and about $120 (US) for the VIP tix.
That makes much more sense. I was about to say....there's no way he could be more expensive than Macca.

I feel like we are getting Daft Punk, Bjork, and a legend act. With Blur, Atoms of Peace, and QOTSA being next tier. Who knows though...maybe Daft Punk would take the Swedish House Mafia slot from last year and we could get another headliner. I feel kind of confident that we will not get The Killers ('09), Muse ('10), or Kings of Leon ('11) back at Coachella that soon.
Yeah The Killers or RHCP could very well be the crappy headliner (I just hope they're both not on there), but like you said...I'm fine with it because there will be something going on somewhere else at the same time.
Crappy headliners are a blessing at Coachella. Gives you an excuse to explore the outer realms at night. There are always awesome acts conflicting with headlining sets.
Agreed. Between Coachella and Roo 2012 I saw 1.5 / 6 headliners (Dre/Snoop and half of RHCP) I got some good napping in at Roo during Radiohead and got en excellent spot for SBTRKT and Subfocus at Coachella.
Daft Punk rumors are starting to heat up on the Coachella boards. EDMSnob says its likely happening, and he's been a pretty legit source in the past, as he called SHM's last show being at Ultra long before it was announced.

Don't you consider Ashley Capps, who said DP won't be "ready" in June more credible than EDMSnob? All evidence points to Daft Punk tour next year, but anything specific for Coach?

I mean dont get me wrong im still skeptical, I just havent seen EDMSnob be wrong yet.

But isn't SHM's last show being at Ultra not really saying something that insane? I seem to remember you saying that it was where they got their start and it is the biggest EDM fest in North America after all.
Good god, it's the same sh*t every year with Daft Punk. I'm with CKS, I'll believe it when I see them on a lineup. If Coach books Daft Punk, though...Bonnaroo f*cking better. They can't eff that up twice in a row.

Don't let the Coach boards brainwash you Phil. They predict Daft Punk EVERY year and someone somewhat legit is "pretty sure" that it's happening EVERY year. You know better than to trust some of those yahoos.

I HAVE QUESTIONS AND I WANT ANSWERS!!
So I have a pretty firm group of 4 ready to go, 3 from DC and one meeting us from Florida. None of us have advance tickets. We don't want to camp, although a Campervan may be an option. So:
Everyone I've spoken to say we should be getting a place to stay now rather than waiting till we have tickets. Do you all agree?
The travel packages seem pretty appealing, we can get 3 nights hotel, 3 GA tickets and shuttle passes all for around $800 a person. The real advantage to me is that they are available now, so I can have everything handled by the end of the week and not have to worry about it. Can anyone tell me just how much of a mark up that is over doing everything myself? My gut tells me that it's only $150 more than market price for all those things, plus the peace of mind of having everything handled, which is honestly worth a lot to me. Opinions?
I've also heard that there are legit hotel afterparties that I should be looking into. Are there any hotels in particular that tend to have better ones than others? I was looking to stay at the Agua Casino, seemed a safe bet for late night debauchery.
If other people are staying in hotels, where are you staying? Any suggestions generally? CKS, I checked and the ones you guys are in is booked.
Also, how big are the festival grounds? I consider Bonnaroo to be pretty compact, while Lollapalooza is mungus. Somewhere in the middle? And everyone says the grounds are much nicer, does that mean I don't need to pack my boots and dust bandana? Just how hot does it get in April?

The festival is smaller than Roo. Coachella is even more compact and much better situated. Main stage and outdoor basically share the same area and the tents are all in a convenient row. I'd say you could walk from the Sahara (the furthest tent from the main stage) in about 10-15 minutes.
The grounds are definitely much nicer considering the festival is situated on polo fields. Lots of comfy, green grass. Definitely not a need for boots and dust bandana. It does get hot mid-day, probably a little over 100 but keep in mind it's in the desert so it's dry heat. Temp may read 105 but it doesn't feel that hot at all. No where near as hot as the humidity fest that is Manchester.

Your help is much appreciated.
Yayyyyy horn, I am so glad to hear you're firming things up The more inforoosters at Coachella, the better!!
My hotel is about $700 for 4 nights. I'm not entirely sure how the travel packages work, how many people are to a room (if they're putting 4 people to a room, it's lots more expensive than finding your own hotel), etc. I always worried about the 3 night thing. Like, what time are you allowed to check in on Friday? Music starts around noon, so if you can't check in until 3 or 4pm (standard for most hotels), that means you'll have to settle all that stuff late at night when you get back from Coachella. Maybe just a minor inconvenience, but these are things I worry about.
That said, I would be fairly confident that they take good care of their travel packagees. It's also nice that the shuttle stops at your hotel. I'm not sure about the afterparties, as I usually stay closer to Palm Springs. Maybe inquire with the travel package people? You can bet your ass if there are parties happening in the hotels they are hawking they will give you some info.
There is something to be said for peace of mind. If all of your friends can afford it and don't want to hassle with the onsale and worrying about hotel reservations, it seems like a great way to go. I think that is part of the cost, as well, convenience tax
I believe the festival grounds are smaller, but they are 100x better laid out. It's extremely easy to get around, there are no real bottlenecks or obstructions like there are at Bonnaroo. The grounds have PLUSH beautiful grass (at least for weekend 1) and are kept super clean all throughout the fest (they have paid people walking around picking up trash all over). I'd bring a dust bandana just in case, but the dust is next to nothing compared to Bonnaroo.
As far as the weather is concerned, since Indio is in the desert, temperatures can be all over the place. Rest assured that because there is minimal humidity it is never really uncomfortable. Last year weekend 1 was pretty cool with some rain and wind. Weekend 2 was hot as balls, but it never feels anywhere near as hot as Bonnaroo.
Where did you find a hotel that was $700 for 4 nights? A place that's already booked up? The cheapest I see is $254 a night. Homewood Suites. quack that, I'm camping.

Hilton Garden Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage. I saw some other hotels in the same price range about a month ago. Did you check Palm Springs and the surrounding areas?
Just double checked my confirmation, $712.64 after taxes and fees.
