I'm up in the air about Alabama Shakes on Sunday now. I've seen them twice this summer already and will again at Newport. I've got a busy weekend all of a sudden and may need to help my parents with some junk during the day. Debating it. Really want to see Diamond Rugs.

Deer Tick show was good but short and a little weird (because of the venue, not the band). It was not nearly as crowded as I expected at all but that may be due to Red Hook being hard as hell to get to. No good subways go to it so I had to grab a taxi from Atlantic Terminal.
The show was scheduled 7-9 p.m. and that's all they did...on the DOT. Opening act at 7 sharp and Deer Tick at like 7:50. They had to stop right at 9.
I'm glad I did it but will probably avoid any free Red Hook shows this summer. It took me just as long to get out there as it did to watch the concert.

Sooooo It's not on the list because the OP is a slack-ass but I'm headed up for Guided By Voices/War On Drugs/Cloud Nothings/Pains Of Being Pure At Heart on Saturday,July 7th.
It just makes sense to me. I have no IDEA how this works. It's a free show but it's part of the CBGB festival as well.
Tell (or remind?) me about your exact plans for next weekend? How long are you in town? What else are you doing and where are you staying?
PS I just caught that OP/ slack-ass comment. Mwahaha

It appears I get there at like 11:30 on Saturday and leave the next day at 7:30 am. The plan is for me to get there and and grab some food before headed over to Central Park. Show is from 3 pm -7pm now according to the email I got back.
That night I have NO plans as of yet. ODB says he may or may not be able to make it, but I can still stay there, and I'm trying to hustle up Katy Mae to drive in. That's a wait and see, I guess.
Can I crash this discussion with a different NYC-related question?
I'm wondering if there's much difficulty in getting to/from New Brunswick from Manhattan. It looks like there's a train that runs pretty regularly - are those schedules pretty reliable? I'm thinking of flying into the city for Bon Iver's show at Radio City one night but then have a conference in NB the following morning. I would catch one of the weekend shows except I really want to see his opener again - Anais Mitchell - who I've seen a couple of times now and is phenomenal. Any advice greatly appreciated!
I am not a good person to help you, Godzilla, but the few times that I have taken metro North (which I assume to be of a similar reliability?), it has been pretty good.
GL- No promises yet, but I'm still working on it!! And I've been talking to Katy too.

New Brunswick - Manhattan is extremely easy and reliable. This coming from someone who went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick and lived there after graduation. The NE Corridor line is a main NJ Transit line that runs through alot of NJ business areas and is dependable.
PM me and Id be happy to answer any questions you have regarding location and traveling.
