Also can someone just tweet Nate Silver and ask him who's going to win the Super Bowl so we can stop obsessing over which divisions suck the most and get on with our lives?
Dear Patriots - I will stop hating you and all your subhuman mouthbreathing Tawmmy From Quinzee fans if and when you beat the San Francisco 49ers in two weeks. This offer is not valid if the Seahawks somehow lose to either Arizona or Buffalo.
Thought that popped into my head today: Assuming Browner and Sherman don't win their appeals, wouldn't the 4 games include any playoff games? If they're still playing next week and then the suspension starts afterwards, I feel like it could really screw them over. I gotta think they get to 10 wins even without those two.

Popular rumor is that the suspension for both is going to be reduced to two games apiece. Supposedly the appeal is still pending, and the league won't have a final decision by this weekend, so they're both in against Arizona...but the league also doesn't want to potentially keep players out of the playoffs. Unfortunately, with the delay that means both players will be missing at least one of the same games - likely SF - so Seattle will be without its top two corners for a huge game.
You're right, though - even without Sherman and Browner I have to imagine Seattle could/should beat Buffalo and Arizona/STL in Seattle. Hell, I wouldn't even put the SF game down as an automatic loss, as I firmly believe that Seattle even without those two corners is a better team than St. Louis.

Oddly I've never thought much about Seattle, pro or con. All of a sudden, I'm really rooting against them - at least until the Redskins get schwacked by the Ravens. Then I'll root for them again.

You don't have to worry about the wild card - the Skins are going to win the NFC East. The Giants close with New Orleans, @ Atlanta, @ Baltimore, Philly. The Skins have Baltimore, @ Cleveland, @ Philly, Dallas. I could easily see DC going 3-1 with the Giants going 2-2 (or worse!). This just isn't the Giants' year, I don't think. People seem to have latched on to this "THEY ARE A SLEEPING GIANT ALL YEAR THEN TURN IT ON RIGHT BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS AND BECOME A REAL GIANT NO PUN INTENDED" narrative, but that's just what it is - a narrative. They look like a different team this year.
ESPN television and national radio is absolutely awful. I couldn't believe what I was seeing Sunday morning when I turned on sportscenter and was watching them glorify Javon Belcher for his hard work ethic and for being a great guy. I wanted to throw up.

Didn't have a chance to post this on Sunday, but the Rams beating the 49er's on Sunday made this whole season a success, especially if that ends up being the loss that hands the division to the Seahawks and keeps that jerkstore Harbaugh out. I don't have nearly the hate for Carroll/Seattle as I do for them. Also love being undefeated within the division.
Really love the way the Defense has been playing lately, just wish Bradford could put everything together a bit more often. Maybe if Amendola is 100% healthy next year and some of these rookie receivers keep improving, and we bring in some O-Line talent to replace this All-Star Lineup of Failed NFL Tackles, we can really get things going. I know a lot of Rams fans who really think we have a chance at a late season, miracle playoff push, and I do think our next three games (Bills, Vikings, Bucs) are winnable, but it'll come down to the Seattle game for sure, and I'm not convinced this team is capable of a 6-game winning streak culminating in beating the Seahawks in December at Qwest. Why do we always have to play in Seattle in December?? At that point I'd just as soon go to Foxborough or Lambeau than try to beat the Seahawks at home.
Oh, well, the Rams have done their part Juggs, now the Seahawks just have to do their part to keep out the 49er's.
I think Bradford is a more than serviceable QB and Amendola is one of the most underrated receivers in the league. The Rams are trending up, in my opinion, I don't know if that will translate into anything this season or not.
At this point, it's gotta be Tannenbaum forcing the issue. Rex definitely doesn't care much for Sanchez at this point, having pulled him for McElroy. And I don't think Woody cares for Sanchez much either, since he pushed for Tebow in the first place.
Hopefully Woody only fires Tanny at the end of the season, b/c Rex is a good coach.

Woody wanted Big Mac to start, Tanny/Sparano wanted Mark.
It was Rex's decision to make. I don't necessarily think his logic is that bad, I'm just really, really ready to move on from the Mark Sanchez era.
I'm pretty sure he's being played with the slim hope that he does well and generates even the smallest amount of trade value. Jets can pay half his 2013 salary and get him traded to a team looking for a veteran backup with experience or something.
Unlikely at best, but that's the thinking.
The team is no longer attached to Sanchez and Rex literally just said about 5 minutes ago he will not hesitate to bench Mark as soon as he starts brain farting all over the field (only a matter of time).

Oh definitely, Bradford has all the tools to dominate, I'm just saying that I wish he would get more consistent in demonstrating those skills. He'll have a drive or a quarter of excellent, and then come out with two or three 3-and-outs where he looks like he's never played football before or is to afraid phantom rushers are going to appear from underneath him at any moment. The line has been an improvement this year, but we may need to invest in Luke Joechel, and we have the draft picks to move up and get him.
Amendola is so damn good. I love him and I love the way the coaching staff has used him this year. Spags and Crew had him in the slot almost exclusively, and he was awesome there but his average yardage was something like 6/yds per catch. This staff has used him on the outside, in the slot, anywhere they want to attack the Defense, and he's just exploded...when he's been healthy. With the rise of Chris Givens, I think this Offense could be really good...next year....assuming a competent offensive line and the ascent of of Bradford.
The Jets are 1 game out of a playoff spot. That is hilarious.
This is why nobody takes the AFC seriously.
Oh, knock it off. The Jets trounced the Rams, who beat your division leader and the best team in the NFC is an overrated Falcons team that's going to lose in the second round after a bye week.
Let's not get too crazy, neither conference is all that stacked.

I know you're not dumb enough to believe that the team with the best record is actually the best team. The Falcons have a gaudy record, but they've got an incredibly weak SOS.
The best team is probably either the 49ers, Giants or Packers.
And let's not get into that whole "Jets beat the Rams, who beat the 49ers, so the Jets are better than the 49ers!" bit because you're better than that. You can make a circle chart out of all the teams in the NFL this year, based on who beat who.
I've watched multiple Jets games this year, because they always seem to be on. They're not good. And I don't have any issue with the Jets, I don't dislike them or have some goofy bias. They're just not a good football team. No amount of barely beating the Cardinals or the Jaguars is going to change that.

No, if I was putting $ down on an NFC team to make the Super Bowl, it'd be San Fran. But, they don't do seeding that way so I referred to the team with the record as the 'best team.' I think the Pats are the best team in the AFC, but their record isn't indicative of that so I won't call them the best until they beat the best team (which may happen tonight). My point was that the #1 seed in the NFC is just as likely to lose as their opponent.

That's not what I'm saying at all. The Jets lost by like 40 to the Niners, so I would never use that reasoning (and I wouldn't do it for any team, like when the Colts beat the Packers and the Jets trounced the Colts...I never once said "y'know, the Jets are right on par with the Packers!" Because that would be dumb.). My point is that to just scoff at the AFC is unfair.
The Simple Rating System that Pro Football Reference uses to rank teams on a +/- scale, with the + being "points above average," has 4 of the top 7 from the NFC (Niners/Seahawks/Giants/Bears) and 3 of the top 7 from the AFC (Pats/Broncos/Texans).
I think the main difference is the AFC has the 3 of the 5 worst teams in the NFL (Raiders/Jags/Chiefs vs. Iggles/Cards), but their "worst teams" are WAY worse than the NFC's. The disparity from the #1 and #16 in the AFC is much greater than it is in the NFC, and that's not because the NFC's top team is worse, it's because their worst team is better.

You seem to be under the impression that I think they are. I don't. I think their defense is good, their special teams is average and their offense is putrid. That's mainly because their starting QB is insultingly awful, but that's besides the point.
Sometimes teams that aren't very good scrap and get to a playoff spot, hell, you rooted for a 7-9 team that won a division! My point is, the disparity between the AFC and NFC is not even close to how the media portrays it.

I think that the Jets being in the playoff hunt this late in the season and are only one game under .500 is really incredible considering everything that's happened this year. I think because of this, the organization deserves a little bit of a break. With the worst starting QB in the NFL, and possibly the NFL's worst offense (personnel and performance wise) in the last few years, somehow the Jets are still semi-contenders. I think Woody and Tanny deserve a little bit of a break, because it proves that this team may not be as far away from being a sure-fire playoff contender as once thought.
I know most of their wins have been against awful teams but I really think the fact they still have a semi-legitimate playoff shot is really remarkable. I'm not the biggest Woody and Tannenbaum fans (I still think bringing in Tebow was the absolute worst move this franchise maybe has ever made). Still though, I think some of the blame needs to be relaxed a little bit. Look, I don't think the Jets are going to make the playoffs and if they do, I know they're going to get beat down in the first round. But just the fact that they're in the hunt after Week 14 really is unbelievable and makes me actually kind of optimistic for the future.
