I'm not sure which team I hate more, the 2011 Eagles or the 2012 Eagles.
At least the Cowboys are terrible too
My roommate is an Eagles fan, so I've watched basically every game since 2010. Can you explain to my why Andy Reid has decided handing the ball to Shady McCoy 20-25 times is a bad idea?
They drop Vick back 9/10 plays, let him get destroyed, and then McCoy just runs by/around/through 3 guys on a 15 yard run to get a first down. For an offensive genius, Andy Reid doesn't know how to use an elite RB and one of the 5 best offensive talents in football.

No, no I can't...
I couldn't explain it to you when he was doing it with Brian Westbrook either

And taking your team to the playoffs every season?
Maybe he knows that without a passing game, you might as well throw in the towel, and why wear down an amazing rb for a playoff berth that will be basically meaningless.
Are we not talking about the falcons and their 16-0 season -> first round playoff exit anymore?
Technically it'd be a second round exit, because they'd get a bye, but yeah. They have a really easy schedule the rest of the way (New Orleans twice, Tampa twice, at Carolina, vs. Arizona, vs. NYG, @ Detroit). I could actually see them faltering this weekend vs. New Orleans, or maybe vs NYG (who will be in late-season, "we're inexplicably awesome" mode), or maybe @ Detroit in Week 17 because they decide to give their starters and extra week of rest, but that's about it.
I think the Giants game will be tough because it will be in Atlanta and the Giants are a better road team than a home team. Although the Falcons will be looking for revenge after last year's playoff game. TB is also getting better and could be tough at home.

This isn't accurate to the Iggles' problems at all. They pass relentlessly, dropping their miniscule QB to pass as much as anyone else, even though his OL is in tatters (they lost another guy last night). You have a tremendously talented RB, one that is so lightning fast that defenses can't react to him fast enough because he gets to the second level in an instant.
Your QB is getting bounced around, there's no rhythm to the offense and you're leaving an unused Mustang GT 500 in the garage for 3/4 of the game. Know what happens whenever Reid relents and gives McCoy the ball? He generates offense. Every time, without fail. I've heard the "saving him for the playoffs" speech, but the Iggles aren't making it there if they don't ride their horse in the backfield to some wins. Vick can then do his awesome play-action rollouts and Reid's west coast offense would thrive.
His use (or lack thereof) of his best player is just incredibly confusing.
Mccoy is averaging 18 carries a game. You just signed him to a contact worth 90 mil right? You need to get your moneys worth out of him. And giving him the ball 25-30 times a game in a season where you have no passing game and a lack luster defense is a quick way to flush that money down the toilet.
there hasn't been a team in the last 30 years that have won the Super Bowl without either a good passing game, or a great defense. The Eagles have neither. I'm not saying save him for the playoffs, I'm saying a great running game is only a compliment to a championship team. You need to get your passing game and defense together before you can even think about winning a title. Even if they ride McCoy to the playoffs, they'd get bounced quicker than they can say Shady.

You keep bringing up the passing game, which I'm not disputing. But what I am saying is that the west coast offense (especially with Vick running) NEEDS a good running game to build off of. This isn't 2 years ago where they throw 3 or 4 40-yard passes a week, they need to put together drives, and giving your elite player the ball 25-30 times a game is the best way to accomplish that.
And it's not the total # of runs, you have to watch the games to get a sense of how sporadic McCoy's touches are.
Last night you have a perfect example: Get inside the 5 yard line on a 40+ yard run by McCoy. 3 passes later, kick a FG.
That is HORRIBLE play calling and to not give McCoy at least one touch there is deplorable (I realize he came out for a play to catch his breath, so why not run it on 2nd down? Or throw him a flare out on 3rd?)
Reid is mis-using his best player week in and week out.
Yeah. I can understand that. He should have gotten at least one touch in that situation. I didn't watch last night. The only reason I bring up the pass game is because of how important it is to the success of a football team, and its super easy to wear down a running back in the nfl. They have a lot of money tied up in him, and I can understand why you'd want to limit his carries in a season where you don't have the necessary pieces for success to preserve him in for later years. I just think Eagles fans are way too quick to judge blame Reid. He's had four years in a fourteen year career worth philly where he's missed the playoffs. Its stupid to dismiss that. Especially when there is no one else on the market with a record as proven as that is. Sometimes football teams have down years. Keep Reid and give him some offensive weapons in the passing game, end watch him turn it around.

This would be the second down year in a row, though, coaches rarely survive that.
And FWIW, the current pass/run split for the Iggles this season is 68/32. That's just awful.
Why? Because you can't get over how we trampled the Packers in the playoffs last winter on the way to winning the Super Bowl?
EDIT: Or is it because you can't get over how we took down the Packers in Lambeau in 2007 ALSO on our way to that Super Bowl?
No, because anyone who is 22, on the verge of being the first overall pick in the NFL draft and about to make tens of millions of dollars and refuses to play for any team (not to mention his daddy pushing for it as well) is an absolute joke. I'd dislike him if he was 0-130 for his career.
But yeah that '07 NFC Championship game was the worst . Last year wasn't so bad cause it wasn't all that unexpected.

LOL at the Chargers hometown girl liking this comment. Mrs. toml30 is also a San Diego girl and despises Eli more than anyone in the NFL.

This is never, ever, everrrrrrrrrrr talked about (probably because it's the Jets), but Peyton was all set to be the #1 overall selection in 1996. The Jets had the #1 overall pick and since Peyton didn't want to play for the Jets he went back for his final year of school. People say it was to chase a title or some BS, but it was because he didn't like the team that was going to select him. He also did the same thing the following year to the Rams.
Yeah, that doesn't take away from what Eli did. Pretty bush league.
So Elway falls into the same category?
I don't put much stock into pro athletes' personalities. I could care less if they are nice guys or not. All I'm concerned about as a fan of sports is how amazing their athletic abilities are. Terrell Owens was one of my favorite wide receivers for a long time, even though I know saying that is going to get me laughed at, but fact is, in his prime, he was one of the best wide outs to play the game. He was unstoppable. I really didn't care about all the other stuff.
That being said, what Eli did was a little weak, just like T.O. was one the most dysfunctional players ever. It's his life though, so if not playing for the Chargers was that important to him, then whatever. You really can't blame him either given the shape the Chargers are in and the remarks made by Vincent Jackson about A.J. Smith.
Edit: Unless you are on one of my team's rivals. Then how much I hate you speaks to how amazing your athletic abilities are.
