chances are by now you have heard fun.'s "We are young" a million times on the radio, tv, etc. and there's a lot of mixed feelings about them lately especially with their recent popularity but I LOVE fun.! (and yes, they spell their name with a period). it's nate from the format, jack from steel train (one of my personal favorite bands ever, have played at bonnaroo 3X) and andrew from anathallo. their live stuff is really great and tons of FUN. ha. theatrical stuff. i am personally sososo happy they were added. really nice guys too

I'm very excited for this show. I loved We Are Young a month or two before Glee made it a huge hit. Some Nights is a great Queen-esque song. And Out Of Town is a jam too. Its not super-original, but it really is a fun album. I bet they have a great energy live.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

I saw them a few years ago and was supposed to see them a couple days ago.. They were doing a free show at my school, but only a limited number of students were able to get tickets, so I'm glad they got added because I was looking forward to seeing them! Very poppy and upbeat.. it'll be a fun afternoon show.

I illegally downloaded Some Nights last night to check it out. After listening to the first two songs, I immediately deleted it and purchased the last two albums legitimately. I'm hearing some Queen, some Elton, and other great classic rock influences.
I'm getting the same Queen vibe on a couple of tracks including All the Pretty Girls. My 7 year old loves We are young but there seems to be more to them. I do hope they play no earlier than 7ish, I suspect they'd be fun as a sunset band.

I saw them last week at a sold out venue. I expected it to be entertaining but i was really blown away. They just put so much out on that stage. I am very excited to see them live again.

I've seen them twice opening for other bands, and will be seeing them again for the first time as a headlining show in April. I've only given a cursory listen to the new album (which I like so far), but their first album is utterly amazing in my opinion. Barring any major conflict, I'll gladly see them a fourth time.
*Unknown song has been stuck in my head for the past 2 weeks. *Reaches pinnacle stage of frustration *Search the internets relentlessly until i find the song *Find out it's Fun. *FML *Find out the guy is actually from The Format *can't wait to see them

The Format was great!! So happy he's still doing something.

Ohh I kept seeing The Format as their related artist and I thought they sounded extremely similar. That is awesome to know he's still doing something. Maybe they are the Mars Volta to their ATDI. They sound good.
I love love LOVE the Format (got to see them live twice just before they broke up) but just have never been able to get into fun. the same way.
For every song they do that I really like (Be Calm, Some Nights) there are a bunch of others that just strike me as "meh." Both of their albums really lose steam for me after a few songs in. The Format just had amazing hooks--fun. has a few (their best songs), but a lot of their songs really lack in that department. I get that the Queen-style theatrical rock has a different aesthetic, but even though Bohemian Rhapsody is a structural beast, many of its individual sections are really catchy on their own. Not many of fun.'s tunes strike me as having that quality.
I also think the new album in particular is over produced--WAY too much T-pain-esque autotune, which sounds terrible and is CRIMINAL to use on a voice as great as Nate's. "Some Nights" would be an A+ track if they hadn't put that effect on his vocals on those little falsetto flourishes before the last chorus. "It Gets Better" is another example (and frankly I can't stand that song at all).
The Format struck an amazing balance between being REALLY catchy and poppy while also being really earnest and authentic. For me, fun. shows that potential but falls short more often than not.
I'm curious to see them at 'roo (they used to play Format's "The First Single" in concerts--hoping they still do!) but if there's a conflict, they're probably going to be the one I opt to miss.

I do miss the format and steel train so much. saw the format 4 times and steel train over 20 times. talked to jack when they were in baltimore and he says after the fun. tour steel train goes back into the studio so that's great news. wish I could say the same for the format but I'm pleased to have fun. around. anathallo is worth listening to as well
Not going to get to listen to the whole thing tonight; hopefully there's some Format in there!
This is pushing them more into the must see category for me, I might have to catch them somewhere other than Roo, as the Sunday schedule looks like it will be pretty brutal.

no, no format in the setlist I don't think fun. ever plays any format stuff, but still good. if you all haven't make sure you get their first album, "Aim & Ignite" as well. Real Good
I'm NOT a fun. fan, but my buddy who is posted this on FB and I thought this might get y'all stoked. It at least wins them some respect from me for understanding what makes Roo great

To me, this seems like hollow last-minute pandering for support. They've seen the schedule; they know what they're up against. No way do they want to play to a half full tent.

I didn't even need to hear it to know that Sunday was fun. > Phish. It's a talented band. I can't even remember who they're up against, but I know I didn't have to think twice when I originally saw the schedule.
