Section three: I am a terrorist. As a homosexual, my job is simply to sodomize mediocrity. I am terrified and horrified and shocked that anyone would mention Phish in any article related to me.
I'm like Sly from the Family Stone. I'm all about smiling and good times and white teeth. It was a very natural show and the people that didn’t like it can suck my dick. They got the full fucking set of emotional fucking sincere whiny white people music. And then they got fucking 'My Sharona' as interpreted by Faust. It was like a death trance.
Bradford Cox never fails to entertain. I adore him and have the pleasure of seeing him perform tomorrow night. His odd but not uncharacteristic behavior as of late has made me all the more excited for his show tomorrow night.
Second, the only person I asked to strip was the person who commandeered my stage [by requesting 'My Sharona'] and made the show about his self-interest. I tried to emasculate somebody whose ego was super potent. He asked me to strip when he called out the name of the song. It was a joke; he's basically throwing a dollar bill at the foot of the stripper. And I’m just saying hey, let's reverse the roles. Come on stage. Do something entertaining. Entertain me.
That's the reason people think I'm a nutjob, because I don't give a fuck who reposts or how I sound. I don’t Twitter, I just randomly urinate out of my mouth. And then people sift through the feces looking for seeds.

Really? I think his behavior was pretty poor. I mean, if you watch the videos, he really tries to emasculate the guy who called for the cover. To me, he comes off as a whiny kid who throws a fit when he doesn't get his way... the "fit" being subjecting his audience (and his band) to an hour of "My Sharona", and "his way" being having complete control over the show, including how the audience behaves. I mean, how does Cox even know that the guy's requests were meant as a heckle? Maybe the guy genuinely thought Cox would enjoy taking ironic 80's requests. I guess that's my main point, how he reacted so hugely to something based on an assumption of what was taking place (although I still maintain that it was an overreaction even is his assumption was correct).
That said, I think in the interview he makes a great point about the downside of the plugged-in generation. He's right that whatever went down should have just stayed there, instead of being spread all over the Internet.

Hmm, I disagree. I find your/his statement similar to someone saying back at the turn of the 20th century, "Telephones? If you have something to say to someone, say it face to face!"
His show in Boston last night was amazing. He opened up with Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night", and played it multiple times throughout the set. Most of the other stuff he played was from his current album. This will probably be one of my favorite shows this year, most likely second to Radiohead.
In regards to his show in Minneapolis. It's in poor taste to make requests at a shows unless the artist asks for it. Even if Bradford asked for requests, My Sharona is horrible one to make. It sounds to me like the guy that made the request was being a d-bag anyway. Lesson for the future, keep your effing mouth shut while Bradford is performing, and all will be good. Simple as that.
I'm with Bradford, I think it looked like the crowd had an excellent time during My Sharona. Also, it doesn't matter if he was heckling or not, shouting out requests in general (there's always that stupid f*ck at every Radiohead show I've heard on the tour so far screaming "BURN THE WITCH!"), but ESPECIALLY when it's not their song, and extra especially when it's a bullshit novelty 80s song that nobody would play except ironically.
I've never been a huge fan of Deerhunter but their show at Roo rocked and I remember the #1 thing that stuck out for me was how much they jammed out.
I like them too, but the last time I'd seen that many people bolt early at an entertainment event was when "Punch Drunk Love" was still in theaters years ago. It was a little distracting.
Can we please somehow get this for Thursday night this year? Please?
easily my favorite show on thursday, and they have become one of my favorite bands since bonnaroo this year. hopefully bradford is on the farm again in some way soon
