When in Knoxville, accept no substitutes.
I really need to make time to go here. I have heard nothing but great things. Also, the Metro Pulse says that they have the best Mac N' Cheese in Knoxville.

It's pretty fantastic.
Not near me, but I think my most favorite place to eat in the world is
There are a ton of things I miss about Atlanta, but this one is up there.
I have many friends who went to UB, they all say pretty much the exact same thing, word for word. As a self-proclaimed wing connoisseur, I duly intend on making the trip up there one day.

Trust them when they say the medium is hot and the hot is suicide. I got suicide once, and everyone was in tears before we even touched a wing. The sauce is that strong just smelling it. But the flavor is incredible. Plus, they have real Buffalo Blue Cheese which is far better than the fake stuff you find most places. The fries are great too, and they serve Molsen Canadian on tap. Nuf said.

I live in UA, and I have to second pretty much all your suggestions, save for Hound Dogs Pizza - I've never eaten there. The Thurman burger is freaking legendary - and I think it was featured in a Man vs Food. Schmit's also has some of the best German food in central Ohio, and Katzinger's is my favorite deli. You freaking nailed it! I'd also add Betty's: bettyscolumbus.com/
If you need some good greasy food after the bar closes, 29 Diner in Fairfax, VA is the place. Great burgers and the country fried steak and eggs is gooood. Also reaally cheap.
Amphora's in Herndon, VA. Owned by Greeks like Quacker said. So in addition to all your diner classics, they also have souvlaki and Mousakka. But what separates them from the rest is their bakery. Their Black Forest Cake is insanely delicious.

Not sure how to upload images but the Pop Shop in Collingswood NJ is the only place i can think of as a Best Kill Eatery. SOOOOOOO MANY GRILL CHEESE CHOICES!!
My go-to diner in college in Rochester, NY was Jay's Diner. It's been given a face-lift since then and I don't think it has the table-side jukeboxes anymore.
By the way, table-side jukeboxes are thus-far ignored aspect of diners. Such a fun option!
A far more popular option (and also featured on Man vs. Food) was Nick Tahou's. I lived in Rochester for about a dozen years and never went until I moved away and came back for a visit but it's definitely worth the trip for a garbage plate if you're in town.
Also, Kostas for tirokafteri. How tirokafteri is not on every menu of every Greek restaurant in the country is beyond me.
Basically, when I go home I eat very few meals with my family.
Also, Ted's hotdogs and john and Mary's subs. Royal subs are the bomb
I worked at Chet's Dog House in East Aurora during my summer breaks so I never did the Ted's thing but everyone I know raves. They're still kinda the enemy to me even though Chet's has changed owners and diminished in quality several times over the years.
I like John and Mary's but I prefer Jim's Steakout. When I worked at the Hyatt I'd fight my way through the Chippewa madness to pick up food from there on my way home. So good!
In Syracuse you have to go to the original Dinosaur BBQ. (Not that there's anything wrong with their location in Rochester -- actually, the physical location is better. I've never been to the Albany or NYC locations.)
I don't think that I've ever had anything less than great there. I constantly crave their BBQ beans. Also, I recommend the Drunken Spicy Shrimp

Syracuse is best. And seriously, before the south rises and says there is no way Upstate NY can make BBQ better, I have eaten BBQ all over from Kansas City to North Carolina, and everywhere in between. Dinosaur is hands down the best.

Tacos lupita. Bomb ass Mexican food. You can go in, eat a taco and a burrito, and be out in 15 minutes. You also eat so much so fast you won't realize how full you are until it's too late

Oooh Fat Matt's rocks, but IMO wins!! ;D
When I think of a Diner or Eatery I tend to think of places that are cheap and serve generic Americana stuff. So if your looking for some comfort food in Atlanta I strongly suggest The Flying Biscuit www.flyingbiscuit.com/ Best Grits ON EARTH!

^Only ate at Fox Bros. once. I liked it okay, but didn't think it compared at all to Fat Matt's. Tried to eat at the Flying Biscuit once. It didn't go well (waiting in line forever, got seated at a table that was basically on top of the table next to us, and then it took so long for a waiter to show up that we left). They were always superbusy though, so I figured we were probably missing out.
This place in Gainesville has the best pizza, it is a very eclectic joint and the salad is great as well!
SATCHEL'S PIZZA
This happened last month.
It was contained in the kitchen, the building is old. Not sure what caused the fire, it seems strange, especially when another pizzeria in Gainesville caught fire less than a week later.
