SO I created my 15 weeks of bonnaroo list started on feb 20th every week on mon I do 1 thing to prepare myself so I dont end up on this mad dash to get the ish I need. Also everyday listen to the people on your lineup as well as researching them is a time passer(especially if working)
I can relate. I feel like my husband and I live in a Bonnaroo Bubble sometimes. We are your typical "normal" mid-30's couple with little kids. My husband works a professional job, I'm a stay at home mom that does a lot of volunteer work with my kids schools. We love music and Bonnaroo and don't really have a lot of friends that share in that love the same way. It's frustrating sometimes. The day the lineup came out I was working in my daughters library at her school and I really wanted to talk about it but I knew the other moms would think I was crazy so I just kept my mouth shut.
We've tried to get other people to go too but they either say it's too expensive, they aren't into the camping, they can't get off work, etc...
We also can't get babysitters very easy so we don't see a lot of shows otherwise. Our last one was in Oct and before that was Bonnaroo. It's just not something that can happen easy for us so doing that or going to another fest is out, at least for now. So we pretty much just have each other to talk to and get excited about Roo and online of course. It's not too hard to distract ourselves the half of the year after we get back from Roo but after Christmas until June again is pretty rough.
we could be twins!!...I am 33, pretty much married (together 10 yrs) have two kids..we spend every year trying to convince people to come and they always say "yes" in June right after Roo, then by Feb you hear nothing.. or they say "too expensive" my husband and I make it work, every year..it's our only getaway alone, but it would be nice to have some friends tag along and also talk about with too..actually my cousin just came and spent a couple days with me (day after we bought tix) and I think she's the closest I've come to convincing over anyone else..but today she said she is still not 100% lol..oh well...

I have no one to talk about Bonnaroo with either! Two of my friends are going, but they aren't very excited because they have never been and don't really know what the quack is up! They can't believe how pumped I am over three months out... I've got a lot of prep to do though! I need to get the perfect tent, sun shelter, camping chair, flash light, etc. I need new sun glasses too... so I guess I'm not quite ready for roo just yet >.<

I agree. This is a wonderful idea. I usually have a good Bonnaroo Pile in the corner of my living room by the middle of April. I have to get a new tent this year. My faithful 50 dollar tent Lucy died a horrible death at a luau in 2010.

I'm taking a week in New York City mid-March to give me a "vacation to look forward to" before I focus all of my can'twaitaciousness on Bonnaroo. VIP this year! Woo hoo! But first, the Lion King, Gomez at the Brooklyn Bowl, the Cat Empire at Webster Hall, and WAY too much money on a Times Square hotel.
1. Hit up some shows. 2. Get on inforoo and b!tch a lot. 3. Start buying lots of useless crap to bring. 4. Plan the trip in minute detail. (make powerpoint presentations) 5. Buy lots of music from artists coming you have never heard before.
Adding to Druid's list:
6. Find, meet, and make friends with the Inforoosters in your area. (If you live in a 'Rooster-free zone, move. Or at least find some within a 2-hr drive.) Then start at #1 and repeat as necessary.
Us New Yorkers like to stay in our respective boxes thank you very much.
(have I met any of you nyc inforooer's by mistakewithout knowing at a show? I do wonder)

I've been working down the items on my 4 page Bonnaroo Checklist to keep my head in the game! I'm 90% finished getting everything that only has to be purchased, and I'll need to finish up a few craft projects to make my weekend spectacular!
Well, so far, the only thing that has taken my mind off the farm (besides work...mine is mental), has been driving fast. Went up to the Smoky Mountains this weekend and drove (little convertible) the "Tail of the Dragon" (326 curves in 11 miles) with 20 other cars like mine....speeding through the curves, I didn't think of roo once....
There are a bunch of motorcycle rides coming up in the spring...that helps, but unless I'm doing something that requires all of my mental acuity (driving fast/riding a bike/working), deep in my mind there is a picture of the roo arch...waiting, beckoning, enticing.....I wish I could see it as anticipation....it's not a bad misery, but it is just the same....
There was a rock slide on 129, so they closed the last two miles of the Dragon, so I went up once and back down once.....then I had to go and do the pictures with the other cars.
On my way out (had to go a different route) I passed by the Nantahala river (beautiful), so I think I'll make another trip over this spring, do the Dragon again (including the last two miles), then spend a day on the river kayaking.
Give me a good chance to air out the tent and check the new luggage rack before roo....

Hahah. I already have the itinerary made up with scheduled rest and gas stops. My girlfriend is currently planning our food. I love the planning period, preparation helps kill time
Well, still miserable but it's getting much better as the countdown continues....just a few more days and we are only a month away. Hopefully the ticket will arrive in the next couple of weeks, and I can start getting 'ready'....yessssss
If I could only bottle the 'on the farm' feeling, and take a dose every now and then!
I'm with you guys. This year volunteering, arriving on tuesday, plus going solo for first time since I went by myself 6 years ago are all turning up my anticipatiometer. Its turning my back to the bruce lee thinking, refinement and simplicity. How light can I pack and have everything I need.

1 always helps and 5 is a great way to make the wait fun. Spending these few months exploring bands on the lineup has become a part of the Bonnaroo experience for me. Of course, it does create more conflicts when the schedule comes out.
This is my first roo but I'm beyond ecstatic & reading this forum is making me anxious/excited beyond comprehension haha. I can't wait until the schedules comes so I can attempt to plan my day.

Don't try to plan your days too much! Most likely there will be conflicts that will bum you out, which always sucks, but one of my favorite things is just kind of wandering around and checking out the smaller stages...you might happen upon something you really dig!
