I have a feeling he will get a Main Stage set. Even Conan, who was a huge name, wasn't on the initial lineup. He's third billed on a very popular network TV show, he's one of the more popular stand-up comedians around right now. His stand-up album from a few years ago sold pretty well, and he's clearly got a great relationship with the people at Bonnaroo. I would not be surprised at all if he got a Chris Rock style set on the main stage.

Conan hadn't announced that he'd be doing a nationwide tour when the intial lineup came out. He announced in March that he would be doing a live tour and Bonnaroo was just lucky enough to secure him at the festival.
It's interesting, too, because if you watch the documentary about the live tour you'll see that Conan didn't want to introduce every band and thought that he would only have to introduce one act or something. He was kinda surprised by what his "team" signed him up for. He was in the middle/end of the long tour and was drained by then.
I'm not saying you're wrong. I think there's a good possibility Aziz does a main stage set. I just wanted to point out that Conan wasn't on the initial lineup because of a timing issue.

Awww shit I didn't even realize the date he had listed was Thursday. I just saw that he had one date listed as opposed to the whole weekend. Probably means nothing then.

Really glad I got to see his set with Michael and Michael in '09. I'd like for him to do a What Stage show just so I can be guaranteed a chance to see him. I'm not sure if I'd want to see him before Radiohead though. I feel like that would draw anyone who possibly isn't keen on Radiohead to the What stage. Last year his line reminded me of the line I waited in for Conan so I quickly gave up on his set.

Following in the footsteps of Louis C.K., comedian Aziz Ansari announced today that he will offer his new stand-up special, Aziz Ansari: Dangerously Delicious, as a digital download.
In what should be a worrying sign for comedy labels looking to remain the middleman, the 60 minute comedy special will be immediately available to the Parks & Recreation star’s fans at www.AzizAnsari.com. The uncensored hour was filmed during a stop on his Dangerously Delicious tour last year at The Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. It was directed by longtime collaborator Jason Woliner; and like Louis’ experiment is being sold for $5.
The news comes as Ansari’s stand up career heats up. The multi-hyphenate recently announced he will embark on another theatre tour, titled Buried Alive, later this spring. The set will feature entirely new material from the actor-comic.
Louis CK generated a tremendous amount of press when he employed the DIY model back in December. The spotlight remained on him and his experiment as he earned more than $1 million within days of offering Louis C.K.: Live at the Beacon Theater directly to fans on his site. Comedian Jim Gaffigan announced in mid-February that he'd be following suit, serving up his Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe on his website with the same $5 price tag.
Saweettttt. I think it's really great that they are changing the game like that. I always want to support the artists, and this way I feel so much better about where my money is going! By doing things this way we get a better deal, too!
Didn't Radiohead catch heat for doing something along these lines when they released In Rainbows?
I saw Aziz perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade about four years ago now in front of like fifty people really late at night. He was fucking hilarious and I'm glad to see that he's skyrocketed since then. Can't wait to see him this year at the Roo.
I was at a free UCB show in Chelsea a few months back. Reggie Watts was one of the acts (he was great), but the nite was made when Aziz came out and did a surprise 30-minute set. He killed. It was an awesome time.
I don't know if I see him doing a mainstage show, though. His standup shows are in relatively small to average size theaters. Stand-up is a tough thing to do in front of a gigantic crowd. It's usually best in a smaller, more intimate setting. So I don't know if he'd be into doing his routine in front of a huge crowd. If I had to guess right now, I'd guess he'll be doing comedy tent shows and then doing ten to fifteen minutes on the mainstage in between acts. A little longer than what he did for The Black Keys last year, but still kind of the same schtick.
The fact that he's listed so high on the lineup makes me think otherwise. Aziz loves bonnaroo and bonnaroo loves aziz. With his new tour in the works it seems pretty likely that he'd have a comedy set on the what between acts. He's really taking off these days with the success of Parks and Recreation and his roles in films. He's really getting out there. If he's booking small venues now I don't think it'll be long before he's selling out large venues like Chris Rock.
I'm not sure what definition of small venues you use, but here in Atlanta he played The Tabernacle which I believe is the second largest theater here next to The Fox. Granted it's not a stadium but that place is pretty damn huge!

First of all, thanks for posting this. You just made my morning. Second of all, it took me a long time to figure out what these references to 'StereoNoggin' were. Love this board!! and I love Aziz!
Aziz has popped up the last couple of years at shows introduciing bands (kid cudi '10, black keys '11) So i think we will see a lot of him during the weekend. He will deff be on what or which for a full set, but i think we will be seeing him randomly throughout the weekend.
If he's on an actual stage I will definitely try and catch him live, but I won't even bother wastin' my time tryin' to see him if it's in the Comedy Theatre. Demand fer his tickets would be insane.
I'm confident that I will never set foot in the comedy tent because it seems like such a hassle. Sounds like he will be on a stage this year so I'm pumped to get some laughs.

He's the only person I've ever seen in the comedy tent and it was worth the hours of waiting while hungover in the hot hot hot sun. hilarious. him making the sign language interpreter sign dirty things over and over was pure gold. I am extremely confident he will play on a stage and I can't frickin wait for that. he's in my top 5 list for this year and that says a lot
I was upset that I didn't get a chance to see him at roo... But I got tickets to see the Conan show last week and he was a surprise guest! everythingwentbetterthanexpected
yeah what the hell! there's only like 1500 cap in the comedy tent and he did two shows. that means only like 3000 people got to see the TENTH BILLED act on the line up. BOOnaroo.
and why isn't there shade covering the line for the comedy tent. people wait sooo long for some of those shows doing absolutely nothing but sitting there in the heat. how hard would it be to put up a damn que-line with an awning or something damn.
