the additions were good and all, and i know we don't usually get that many higher-end additions, but they honestly weren't that special, except Danzig and Puscifer, but those appeal to the same crowd. Santigold, Temper Trap, etc. are solid additions, but they're nothing special. I've seen both of them and fun. several times (fun. opened for Janelle Monae when I saw her, and they played at a festival I went to a few years ago). but overall i think it's pretty meh. Danzig and Puscifer are cool, but I feel like there will be mad conflicts around them.
2012 shows: 3/23 - The Men 4/9 - Of Monsters & Men 4/21 - Bassnectar 5/2 - Shpongle 5/22 - Jack White 6/1 - tUnE-yArDs 6/7-6/10 - Bonnaroo 2012 6/18 - Destroyer 6/20 - The Tallest Man On Earth 6/23-6/24 - Governor's Ball
Seriously peeps? I cant believe you can bash Fun and not be complaining about The Beach boys or friggin Ben Folds Five!
Well, Beach Boys and Ben Folds Five are 2/3 of my most anticipated acts for Sunday. I really only dislike fun. because dude is really trying way too hard to be Freddie Mercury on certain parts of that record. I can't take him seriously after that.

I'm just now listening to fun. I'd never heard them before because I don't listen to the radio and haven't in many years. I got all the way through Aim and Ignite and I'm about half way through Some Nights and I think both albums are very strong. A little too much auto-tune on the second album, but he'd already proven that he can sing on the first one.
Do you guys also not like Queen, or is this the classic case of hatred from hearing it too much?

I thought Aim and Ignite was pretty good too back when it came out. I haven't heard their new album but if there's anything I've learned from this forum it's that you cannot take these people's musical opinions seriously. A lot of the time I think exactly the opposite of the general consensus on here. I have not heard their song that's been on the radio because I do not listen to the radio. Who listens to the radio?!?! There are some artists that I have tried out because of people's recommendations on here but I would never rule out a band just because there's some haters on here. However I do usually rule out anything autotuned... because really, I could produce that music. In any case, I think fun. is a solid add that a lot of Rooers will enjoy, but I doubt I'll go see them since I'm sure there will be conflicts.
I'm happy to see everyone so amped for Santigold, though! I cannot wait to rage that crowd with all you fine folks!

I had actually never heard the song that everyone claimed I would know ("We Are Young" I think it was called) and I couldnt stand it, or the rest of them

I'm enjoy fun. In my book there is nothing wrong with uptempo, dance-y alt-pop even if its not the most original music ever produced.
As for auto-tune, its not always bad. I think Kanye uses it effectively. Ke$ha not so much because she literally cannot sing without it.

The auto tune is used in some places in a very obvious way to where it's almost musical, though I'd at least have liked to hear him attempt it. He's got a great voice, so it's not a crutch here.

i think we have the entire themed/curated tent yet to come (5 or 6 bands), galactic, maybe another jam band, another bluegrass band, a reggae band, world music band, soul/gospel band, plus a few smaller bands to play on thur.
He's like you made an über troll by taking the worst parts of me (the utter disregard for other people's opinions), Phi (cluttering up threads with memes and adding nothing to a discussion) and Jess (an apparent belief that everyone else is the problem and/or arrogance without self awareness).

Of course we like Queen. Hell, who doesn't like Queen? Freddie Mercury is just one of those guys whose sound you don't lift, especially if you don't have the goods to pull it off. I was slightly offended when I listened to that new fun. record on Spotify. I won't be seeing them, especially considering they will be playing on a Sunday that will be full of stuff to see.

I agree about his voice. When I was a little teenage girl I used to enjoy the Format, so I'm happy to see that this guy is still making music. I'll give it a listen.

Kanye absolutely uses it effectively. Too many artists today use autotune as a means to remedy their lack of actual musical talent. In my opinion, Kayne West is one of the most talented musicians today; he understands the complexity of music, and uses his production to really layer the sounds. It's hard for me to understand how people can't at least respect what he does as a musician, because even if it isn't your cup of tea, you have to admit that it's well produced and well written. Kanye West is the perfect example of correctly used autotune, just as Ke$ha is the perfect example of garage.
Just got around to researching Temper Trap, and I had no clue they were the ones that did that Sweet Disposition song! I remember hearing it some beer commercial or something a while back and loving it. Enjoying the rest of their stuff too...these are definitely the best set of adds i've ever seen!
Great, we got the rock version of Kanye. Wasn't planning on seeing him anyway, but I might come by just to throw bottles at him. Give him a taste of his own medicine. I hate cops as much as the next guy, but it is ridiculous to incite a riot over a rock show. Especially when you were 45 minutes late. Even if it was the festivals fault, the cops had nothing to do with it, yet they were the ones put in harms way. Danzig and his fans need to grow up

I'm totally totally happy with Puscifer, Sanitgold, & The Temper Trap!!! I've seen both Santigold & The Temper Trap and both put on awesome shows!!! I think they are great additions!! I've never seen Puscifer but I've seen Tool 3 times, so I'm totally stoked about this one because I missed him when he came through STL last fall.
so what's everyone thinking? we get another round of the same caliber of acts? i don't see the next round of additions being all bands who would end up low on the lineup, it would seem very anti-climactic for anyone on the fence about purchasing a ticket at this point
