I've seen them open for Living Colour and I know that they were hugely influential on them. Anybody ever see a LC/BB crossover besides their cover of Sailin' On? I wonder if Vernon Reid is on the same day as them if he'll be up to jam.
Side note: VR also played with Steven Bernstein's MTO Plays Sly. I'm wondering he might be thread (very loosely) holding a stage together on one of the days. I mean, stylistically they are very far apart so it's probably unlikely, right?

God, I hope HR actually puts out for this set. Last time I saw them, in K.C., I think, Deftones opened, he sang most of the songs to his girl du jour on the side of the stage. After the show he punched his manager and the tour was cancelled. Top 5 all-time band band, for me. Just praying they bring it.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
I suppose we shouldn't listen to those 80's albums either.
My point is that it's 2012. Not 1982. The Bad Brains are nearly 60 years old. I'm not going to get excited over a 20 year old photo thinking I'll be getting the 82' Bad Brains.
You're the one trolling the Bad Brains thread with the "Oh, they're all washed up" talk. While I'd bet you'd cream yr skinny jeans if they could dig Shannon Hoon up just so you could hear "No Rain" one more time.

Well first, I'm not trolling. I'm adding to the discussion of the topic at hand. If I was trolling I would have came in here and bashed someone else's taste in music, that has nothing to do with the topic, i.e. You.
Second, I never said they were washed up. I said they are nearly 60 years old, I said the photo was 20 years ago, and that I'm not expecting an old school Bad Brains show. I enjoy the music very much and will probably check the show out, but honestly I would have preferred this spot being filled by a more current punk band.
And finally, yes I would cream my pants if science somehow brought Shannon Hoon back to life and he was able to sing "No Rain" again. That's fucking impossible.
We get it. It's a reunion. Yes, this is 2012. Thank you for pointing that out. You may want to let them know in the Beach Boys, Danzig, Alice Cooper, Dispatch & BlackStar threads, as well, to add to those discussions.

I went through a punk phase for a while but could never get into Bad Brains. Since the line-up came out I've given them another chance and I'm liking them quite a bit at the moment. That tent on Saturday will be awesome.

Bad Brains' debut is one of my favorite records. Thought about seeing the show in DC. People who went told me that HR was dead and sat still for much of the set. I don't mind leaving Charles Bradley early to see if they're on their game. If they're not, there's enough time to get to Das Racist's tent.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.

my buddy saw bb last week and said while the band ROCKED, HR did just stand there and didn't move much, and mumbled between songs. still was a great show.
Saw them live about two years ago for the first time, and while it's true that HR doesn't move around too much anymore, it was still very much worth it...HR was wearing a bullet-proof vest for some reason, and was showing it off to the crowd lol...not sure why though....But, would definitely recommend checking them out!
Anyone else gonna kick off the fest Thursday with the Band in DC documentary?? Do they provide popcorn in the Cinema tent or should I bring my own corn?
