Trey will be playing tonight with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra..local radio station released this interpretation of the Heinz Hall (uppity cultural district) email. Funny stuff
so Dave announced his tour, and he is playing two nights at deer creek June 22-23. this was one of the speculate date pairings for the Phish deer creek dates. I do hope it ends up being the following weekend (weekend before being bader, before that roo) so I can make the drive. can't do deer creek during the week.
any way your body/limbs can move with the beat! everyone will be grooving to their own tune, and it's really something to see when theres 30,000 grooving as one!
Here's a great crowd scan from the Greek Theater shows in Berkeley, CA a yr and a half back!

Phish has been blowing my mind for 20 years... more than half of my life. I'll see them every chance I get and seeing them at Roo again is the icing on the cake. I'm old enough now that I'm really not offended by people that rip on them... I just feel bad for them for missing out on the magic that can happen 20 mins into a Divided Sky when Trey's guitar takes over your mind, body, and soul and you just know, beyond all shadow of a doubt, that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at that moment in time.

as of right now 6/10/12 will be #115 for me.... unless of course the do a southern swing into Roo, then it'll be closer to 120. I Haven't missed a TN Phish show since 11/29/95 (my first show).
They are playing at a higher level than they were in 2009, so my expectations are high. Just need to conserve my energy for sunday since I'm usually wiped out by 8 Pm sunday night.... I hope they get really weird at Roo for the tweakers. There wasn't enough of that at MSG for my taste (still had a blast though).
I would be extremely surprised if Phish dates were announced prior to Roo tix going on sale. If that were the case, Phish likely would've announced the entire tour on Tuesday (or at least the june leg). Since they did not, it stands to reason that Coran Capshaw is holding the dates back for another week or two, since he helps run both Roo and Phish. Phish is playing a 3 night festival in Atlantic City the weekend right after Roo. I'm sure they don't want to pull any potential phish fan Roo-goers away from Roo just yet, as an AC phish-only fest will likely do.
There went my attention span. Thanks for the heads up.
I am pretty psyched. ready to connect the dots between what we already know: roo, bader, and DC in there somewhere. having said that I think the tour will start in Manchester and it will probably be the only show I catch leg one.

In 2009, Phish summer tour (minus Knoxville and Bonnaroo) was announced in January. I think it has less to do with Capshaw and more to do with hammering out all the details before announcing the full tour.

2009 was totally different. In January of 2009 Phish hadn't played a note (outside of Brad's Sands wedding in 08) in 5 years. Hampton was going for $500 a ticket to each night. They were in a position to sell out all of summer tour, regardless of Roo. They did that, then announced Roo. The entire tour sold out, then Roo was announced... giving fans who had been shut out a chance to see them with an easy ticket.
in 2012 things have flipped to the opposite side. The luster of PHish's return has worn off, and they aren't selling out shows all over the place. Roo, as of today, has the only Phish date of the year. Coran Capshaw is smart enough not to undermine the first weekend of Bonnaroo sales, by announcing a slew of Phish dates that others can hit without spending $300 on a Bonnaroo ticket.
It's just logical business practice. Maximize profit whenever possible. Roo's booking of Phish has the luster of the only date on the calendar prior to tix going on sale. Phish announcing dates can and will draw people away from Bonnaroo, but Bonnaroo announcing Phish will not draw people away from their summer shed tour.

trying to swing bethel..but going to cut back quite a bit from my normal amount, most likely. might do AC last minute and camden but thats it.
radiohead takes precedent this summer. will travel.
i did like 15 shows last year and i felt like i could have gotten away with a third of that amount and been just as happy. they are getting a little repetitive these days, though they are less likely to throw a clunker out there too.

I have been pretty light since 09, I am really torn this year, I want to do AC, but I really can not swing that and Bonnaroo. Last year I was going to do Watkins Glen, but did AllGood.

I hear what you're saying and I agree to a certain degree but Capshaw also has to know that the vast majority of Phish fans won't go to Bonnaroo unless there's a southern leg before or after it. Otherwise, they'll wait for the inevitable northeast tour dates. I don't know about you but most of my tour crew will skip the Farm unless they announce a few Atlanta or NC dates the week before or after.

I got somewhat burned last summer doing Camden through Alpharetta. Not the best 5 show swing, to say the least especially when night 2 was in the midst of a horrendous storm.

actually..i was in the seats that night and we most definitely were out of our minds and im not sure what else you would call it other than moshing. it wasnt full on pit action, but it was outrageous. dudes were climbing seats and diving into the crowd in front of them. never seen anything like that at a phish show.
and io just want to feel better about breaking my favorite pipe that night.
