Let's get the Felice Brothers there. Because why the F not?
They were awesome in 2008 on Thursday night and they can play a killer tent show. They're one of my favorite bands and I run the Felice Brothers fan site FrankiesGun.com.
Their latest album Celebration, Florida was fantastic and a total departure from their usual sound. Lots more sampling and messing aroudn with some electronic equipment. Recorded in an abandoned High School in upstate NY it's quite a good album that wasn't on many 2011 "Best Of" lists but this band isn't very well known either.
If you have any questions about the band feel free to ask
I have not seen them since the "Big Surprise" tour with Dave and Gillian, and OCMS, killer show though.
I am so mad I missed that tour.
I agree, itm, their Other Tent set from '08 was amazin'! Caught them just before Celebration, Florida was released with Diamond Doves. Great show! Also that album and their digital EP are fantastic. So I completely support their return to The Farm!

Yes please!! I saw them open for Bright Eyes in Winston-Salem in like 08 or 09. It was awesome! They (and the other opener) even came out during the encore and played a few songs together. It was a great show.
I saw them at a bar in Ann Arbor right after Celebration came out and it was an incredible show. Thanks itm, you are the reason I checked them out. But I would love them to return, a show I wouldn't miss.

I saw em play an Oktoberfest at a church and they blew out the tent soundsystem. Without missing a beat, they hopped down into the crowd and finished the set un-amped. I was very drunk.

It will be disappointing for me if they aren't there. There show at Coachella last year was amazing, great guest appearances, killer energy. I saw them again at Orlando Calling this year and the show was again really solid. They are definitely one of my favorite bands and I think ITM turned me on to them as well.

I doubt they'll be back this year. They don't get a lot of press or buzz so they kinda just hide in the background. Their newest album and their recent videos/EP have been fantastic but I feel like the only festivals I'll see them booked for are Newport Folk Fest and possibly Mountain Jam.
I'd love to see them on the farm again though. Perfect mid-day tent act.
I never understood how The Felice Brothers haven't gotten bigger over the years. They are one of the best at what they do. The fact that Conor Oberst has been pimping them for over 5 years doesn't hurt either.

They had a big setback around 2009 when Simone Felice left the band. They had to retrain a drummer and it took about a year before they were getting really good again in the live shows. It was a rebuilding time where some shows were solid and some weren't too amazing but now they're kicking ass and taking names. They've found the sound they were looking for and seemed more motivated than ever.
I think they need to just start opening for as many bigger bands as possible. I feel like if you see them live there is no possible way you could not walk as a fan

This past year they've opened for Conor Oberst, Dave Matthews Band, Dr. Dog, and Deer Tick (which is funny because I saw Deer Tick open for them the first time I saw Deer Tick) and some others.
I hope they continue to grow. Can't wait to see what they do soon. New U.S. tour dates coming soon. They've got a short European tour in the Spring.
Ya they need to keep that up. Along with playing as many festivals as possible. They played Arizona for the first time ever in the Fall and they had more people than I thought they would and it seemed almost everyone there either first heard of them through Coachella or Conor Oberst.
PS Have you heard anything about Simone's new album ITM? I thought his stuff with the Bros is all really good but The Duke and The King album was pretty weak. I'm hoping for something better this time around.

The Duke & The King were another example of needing to see them live. I loved their first album but thought their second album wasn't too strong (though the songs live were awesome). Simone's new solo album is coming out soon and I got contacted by someone in his management about maybe getting an album or some merch to raffle off on my website or something like that. Not sure if that'll happen. But there are some brand new videos on Youtube if you look up "Simone Felice"

Caught them live this summer at a small club in Cleveland. Great Show ... all the Celebration, FL stuff sounds awesome. Christmas looked like he was on one, but they still brought it strong ...
