^It is an addiction that I have confronted and admitted to this past year. I know, I have asked myself many, many times over, a Gambling addiction? Yep.
Bonnie, HaHa you are correct. If the belly was smaller, that hole, which we call a button, would not be such an inviting place for lint to hide.

I have silly post-it notes all over the house to remind me of the better daily habits I vow to build this year. Little things like "Take your Vitamins" "Floss twice a day" "1 tsp Bee Pollen" "Take your medication" "Wash off your mascara". Getting from point A to point B in my brain always involves interruptions by points C, D, E, F, G, so I need prompts.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Writing down goals is something that seems like it wouldn't make much of a difference, but in my opinion it does. Everything I write down gets done. That's why I haven't put "clean room" in writing. ;D
Scrog, dont stay away, just get lessons from me, I played poker for my only source of income for over a year when I was 23! :-)
Loved the freedom, hated the stress. Worst "job" ever.
Having a "gambling addiction" is one thing, but poker is a skill game. Ive lived in Vegas, and been a gambling addict, gone through GA classes, and still kept poker as my income while refraining from playing anything vs "the house"

I actually look for this in a girl. Is "spit or swallow?" an appropriate question on a third date?
GL have you tried the electronic cigs yet? I have heard good things about them.
I have. It took some time to get used to it but it's rather nice. The only problem I had was getting used to the weight and realizing how many puffs were a cigarette. I'd sit and puff all day long.
During one point in college, I was losing 600 dollars a month on poker games. I just hated losing so much to assholes, that pushed me away. I ended up back in and out for a while. But now I haven't played in nearly a year - after getting cleaned out a few times at Foxwoods and some poker room in New Hampshire. Tired of giving my hard earned money to some shitbag.
To quit smoking. Tried a couple times this year but you know how that goes. To really get this homeschooling thing down, everyday. To get my body where I want it to be which means mostly more working out. To learn how to hoop freely by Roo To SAVE money. I'm great at spending it but inorder to go to all the fests I want I need to learn to save. To get back in school in the fall. To get an internship at AC entertainment after getting back in school.
Oh, and I also want to de-clutter and get rid of crap!
this one is my main one. i asked for someone to come clean my house for xmas and i "got it", but my grandmother said she isn't paying for it until i clean up first. hahahaha. funny that i have to clean up for the maid to come to my house, but whatever, i get it. i can be so lazy about putting stuff up at home, but i'll walk 5 mins back to the right aisle at the store.
also the obligatory, eat better etc.
and cheers to the one we should all be hoping for:

i didn't grow up wealthy by any means, but we did have a helper with the housework once a week (my mom was single, four kids).... and I always said that to myself when I was kid "why do I have to clean when we are paying her to come clean?!"
i didn't really understand until I got my own apartment how much they did behind the scenes (stuff that I skip now like, cleaning the toilet and shower, between the cracks in the kitchen, mopping). i really should be doing my dishes more frequently too, i HATE washing dishes. but I love cooking.
maybe ill add to my new years resolution: be a more responsible apartment dweller and take care of my living space.

Adding also that I want to try a new sport. Snowboarding or water skiing sounds fun.
On a positive note I have been keeping with my exercise routine and counting calories.
I will never make this resolution. I enjoy it to much.
But I only smoke if I'm drinking. It's something that I've been able to do for 15 years. If I'm drinking I will smoke a whole pack. Actually at a festival I always bring a carton. But if I'm just at home I never have one. Ever. So I guess that contributes to why I never feel the need to quit.

JHo, your house didn't look that cluttered! Maybe you had it hid This is my only resolution. I plan on taking at least one bag/box of stuff to someone who needs it or Goodwill every week. Clothes and general crap are all over my place. I have at least 5 years of NatGeo (maybe more) and c'mon, how often do you reference those?? Anyone want them (in driving distance?) LOL. Also have some 1980s encyclopedias, and a 1960ish set as well. Holla!
My parents still have a stand up globe in their house that references the USSR. I keep telling them to toss it but the won't because it was a wedding gift or something.
My son was looking at it one time and I had to redirect him because I think it was for homework.
There are some things I need to address this year. I won't call them resolutions because, well, that just gives me reason to break them.
1. Get control of my anxiety and open up more socially. 2. Cook less like Paula Deen and more like Jamie Oliver. I'm not going to "diet". I know this. I love to cook and eat too much for that to ever work. 3. Quit smoking. I think this will be much easier if I can get control of my anxiety first. Maybe I should focus on not smoking as much in the meantime. 4. I think it was LLL that said "take more steps". I need to take more steps. Taking more steps sounds so much nicer than "exercise". ;D
