This new Sigur Ros album is going to best album that comes out this year. Listening to it right now its amazing. Bonnaroo needs to pony up the dough and get them down on the farm to pre headline for radiohead.
I havent heard the new Sigur Ros but I bet it is great. I picked up Death Grips on RSD and at first I wasn't super impressed, but after a few listens I think it is a really solid record. Very fun and catchy
I've had the new Sigur Ros for about a week now, and it has been on heavy rotation. It's very mellow and ethereal. It reminds me a lot of () Untitled, not as upbeat as Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. But I am still enjoying the crap out of it.

Are we listening to the same record? You think Death Grips is "fun" and "catchy?" I think the album is tremendous, but "fun" and "catchy" are about the furthest from how I'd describe it. More like "abrasive" and "unnerving" and "unsettling."
I can see it for some of the tracks. "Hacker" and "I've Seen Footage" are sort of upbeat.

1.first aid kit 2.michael kiwanuka 3.of monsters and men 4.jack white 5.punch brothers 6.rodrigo y gabriela 7.sigur ros 8.the mars volta 9.alabama shakes 10.mark lanegan band
I mean fun as in it is a fun experience to listen to. Sure it is abrasive and angry but that can make for a really fun listening experience. Just like a lot of metal is super angry but a really good time. And you are kidding yourself if you don't think parts of this album are catchy, Ive Seen Footage is one of the catchiest rap songs to come out in awhile

Can you expand on this one? I haven't listened to it at all but am curious to see what you find makes it one of the best new albums. How are the songs? What stands out? Are lyrics a factor?

I've been playing that Killer Mike album for a week now and love it. I need more time with that Ab-Soul record and I'm waiting patiently for El-P. That's a really anticipated release for me.
Glad you liked the Royal Headaches record. It surprised me at how good it was.
The Chromatics - Kill for Love (early pick for album of the year, will be tough to top in my mind) Spiritualized - Sweet Heart, Sweet Light The Shins - Port of Morrow Jack White - Blunderbuss The Buyable Sluts Wanted for Stealing Virginity - Antacids Lotus Plaza - Spooky Action at a Distance
Honorable mention to Diamond Rugs, Killer Mike (might need to give this a few more listens), Ty Seagall and White Fence, Cloud Nothings, The Men, and Death Grips.
Next on my listen list: Beach House, Actress, Pallbearer, The Cribs
The new Walkmen record is really good. A bit more chill and mellow than anything they've done, but it isn't a bad thing at all. I just love Hamilton's voice
