It was a pleasant suprise to me when I found out Howlin Rain has a new one due out next year. I might be the only one on this board who cares, but Alejandro Escovedo just finished recording. Hopefully it will be more like Real Animal than Street Songs Of Love.

Jeff Tweedy tells his fellow Chicagoans what to look out for - he could have added that there'll be another volume of Mermaid Avenue recordings coming along in 2012

I had a feeling Street Songs wasn't going to be any good, which was sad cause I liked Real Animal.

Some of Alejandro's slower songs are my favorites. "Rosalie" is beautiful."Sensitive Boys", great. I just didn't think Street Songs was a good album. I've read a quote where he said it was just a band album they did for fun.

I would love this. Jay Bennet added a lot to those albums and he will be missed.
