I agree. MSU under Izzo always has been the kind of team that gets better and better as the season progresses. Some coaches have a knack for being able to do that.
This is one of the reasons I like the IU win so much. MSU was really hot coming in.
Really hot. That was a great win, even if it was at home. Indiana's got some great pieces, and they're pretty young, too. If everyone stays, they're going to be a Top 5 team next year and a near certain national title contender.

Actually I will agree with you. they have to get MUCH better point guard play and they cannot lose Zeller. Experts have him being a mid-round 1st round pick. They also must improve on meaningless games (Nebraska, Minnesota). You cannot lose these games and be considered a contender. If they keep all their talent and get better point guard play, they could be a top ten team next year.

I'd be willing to put money on Kentucky getting beat by a Big Ten school in the tourney.
Fair enuff. How much? I can go as high as $500.00.
First off it is a fools bet to make, since only 6 teams from your Big Ten will be in the tournament, and unless you think MSU or OSU is gonna drop to a 3 seed, we might play one big ten team to get to the final four. There are NO guarentees we will even play a Big Ten team...But I will take your money with ease. I just accepeted your bet. Now how much would you like to wager? Usually there is what, 72 hours to accept a wager...

How is Michigan State ranked higher than UNC? UNC has 1 less loss and beat Michigan State
Florida State beat UNC by more than 30 points. That alone should answer that question. uNC will move up now that they beat one-dimensional Duke (who lost 3 home games this year). They looked good in doing so as well. I think UNC honestly is the 4th best team in the country so they should get a #1 seed.

If UNC wins the ACC tourney, they should be the #3 overall, assuming UK and Cuse don't lose in their conference tournaments.
I know you think UK has no chance of losing ever, but if a team not named Cuse could do it, it'd be UNC. They can score with any team in the country, including UK, so if they are playing well they have a shot.
The team that is flying under the radar right now is Marquette. 13-2 in there last 15 games and, despite losing to Cinnci, they are playing great defense and smart basketball.

Not true. I could see UK losing. Any team can be beaten. Heck we played horrible against Florida and could have lost had they hit their three pointers, box out better and play interior defense. Remember, our only loss came this year after a team hit 7 three pointers in a row. What do you think the chances of that happening on a neutral court site? Your coach will decide how far UNC goes. And, if Kansas wins the Big 12, no way they are not the Number 3 seed. Big 12 is loaded and ACC has three, maybe 4 good teams at best.

So apparently SI is releasing a scandalous story about its players and NO NO WORD!!! use tomorrow that could have serious consequences for UCLA basketball. Not sure how true it is but word is the school has already hired a PR firm to deal with the negative backlash. Would be a shame if true. West coast basketball is always better when the Arizona and UCLA is relevant. If they end up with major sanctions there is going to be no competition in the PAC-12 the next couple years
outside of Washington, was there competition this year? Pac-12 had an absolutely HORRIBLE year. Shame too because it should not have been that bad.

I was exaggerating, I know you don't really think that.
And Kansas needs UNC to lose in the ACC tourney to leapfrog them. If they both win the tourney, UNC gets the nod.

The last 2 #1 seeds are still up in the air. The winners of the ACC & Big 12 tourney should get them (assuming the winners are Duke/UNC and Mizzou/Kansas). Had MSU won yesterday they would have had a chance to get one by winning the Big 10 tourney, but its a 4 horse race at this point.

Depends on who UNC plays to win the ACC. If it is not Duke, no one cares.
I think if either of those 2 win the ACC, regardless of who they play in the championship, they will get a 1 seed. Both Kansas & Mizzou aren't going to get one and I don't see Marquette being able to jump over all of those teams, even if they win the Big East tourney, but I suppose if all 4 of those teams lose out early in their conference tourneys and Marquette wins theirs, I could't really argue against them getting it.

Tom Crean is bringing in one of the best point guards next year, Kevin Ferrell. He's a five-star stud, which should help them immediately if Zeller doesn't leave. They're also bringing in a top flight power forward/4. By the way, as an Ohio State fan, I hate typing that.
We got Yogi, Hollowell, Perea and Jurkin all coming in next year. The incoming class ranks as high as 2 in national recruiting. IU is also returning every great player they already have, plus a few more freshman who haven't seen many minutes this year, like Abell and Etherington. Zeller is staying for at least three years. Kid values education and goes to the business school here. He also wants to be one of the IU greats. And unlike klim I absolutely love typing all of that.

I think UConn is definitely in, after their win today. A loss to WVU may create some doubters, but I still think they will get in. I think they could play their way up to a 7, but might max out at 8 or 9, but in an effort to protect the 1 seeds they may keep them at a 7 or 10. And being how the NCAA seems to love to create intriguing matchups, I'm sure if Duke gets a 2 seed they will be matched up against them, at which point I'll be very nervous.

Coming from the guy who roots for an SEC team. (insert childish giggles here)
And UCONN is a scary low-seed, they have talent and play in the most NBA-style conference (meaning it's a conference for grown ass men, dawg) where they play an extremely physical style of ball.

UConn's won 5 of their last 14 games, with at best one of those wins coming against a tournament team, and yet one of the 8 best teams in the country should be worried about facing them in the second round of the tournament? I don't see it.
Obviously I'm not saying it's not possible for them to upset a 1 or 2, but besides half a game against Syracuse they haven't done anything impressive in almost two months.
As a UConn fan I have to say that this is probably the most disappointing season I've seen and I've been following them since the 70's. So much talent and such lofty expectations and such pitiful results.
That being said the infusion of a presumably healthier Calhoun to a talent-laden team could wake them from their coma. I'm pretty sure they will make the tournament and nobody, regardless of how high they are seeded, will want to face them. No way they will march to the title again but they will certainly be viewed as very dangerous by every coach that faces them

Its not their resume that has people worried, its their talent level in a win or go home situation that provides the recipe for a probable "upset."

Right. But my point is that while there is obviously the potential for their talent to take them into the second weekend, they haven't shown that talent (for the most part) since early to mid-January. I guess I just don't buy into the whole "Coach Calhoun is back! They're gaining momentum!" thing just because they beat Pitt at home in a somewhat close game and now beat the worst team in the Big East in MSG.
P.S. I know no one on here was saying that, but Andy Katz and someone else on ESPN sure were.
I wouldn't count out WVU tomorrow. They've kind of got their backs up against the coal mine, so they might play inspired ball. Plus, they've won two in a row, and narrowly lost to Marquette three games ago.
You sound like everybody in the country, circa the Big East tournament 2011.
Bringing Kemba's Madukes to sit courtside was a nice touch, but even that isn't going to spark last year's magic.
Uconn just doesn't have the depth and they have no Kemba. Lamb is capable of lighting a fire and he's proving so with his 47 points (I think) in 2 games.
But 'Cuse has it all up and down the bench. Fab Melo, Christmas, Jardin. They just over match every player on UConn, maybe except Drummond. He is a beast.

I can understand you saying that UConn doesn't have Kemba. And that's a huge loss to bear. But how can you say that they don't have the depth? Essentially they lost only Kemba last year and gained Boatwright and Drummond. To add to that they have a much improved Olander not to mention a year's worth of experience for everybody else that played last year. It makes no sense at all. So to me the only argument is that they don't have Kemba anymore. And maybe that will prove to be the difference as to why they don't win.
I can tell you one thing. Boeheim is facing his nightmare scenario tomorrow. Maybe it will work out OK for the 'Cuse but I'm sure he would rather be facing WVU than UConn right now. And if UConn does beat Syracuse it will make the final very interesting.
