And regarding the ending, anyone else not surprised at all?
I didn't suspect that group of anything until the meeting about the drug vote. The way all 3 of them voted together and the way Clay gave him the "I'm going to kill you" staredown to one of them tipped me off. Then during a commercial break (yes, I'm sick in the head) I re-watched the scene where they kill the Sheriff's wife and you can distinctly hear the idiot with the goatee's voice.
I didn't say anything, but after that scene and re-watching the scene from last week it became obvious. Clay is trying to run the club and using weakness as a defense to get by undetected. Pretty smart, actually, but he's going to get his head chopped off eventually.

The new guys involvement was obvious to me from the beginning. Didn't suspect Clay was in on it until the beginning of this episode, but it really seemed like all episode there were not so subtle hints damning him. But yeah, Clay stands no chance now. I'd be surprised if he makes it to next season.

I have thought Clay was behind it all for a couple episodes. The Nomads had no reason to do it of their own initiative, and Clay would have a hard time turning most of the club against Jax given all the shenanigans he got up to previously.
Im so dumb and naive I never suspected Clay.. I thought it was weird that he was still trying to portray weakness with the Piney oxygen tank, but never put it together. Shaping up to be a great season!
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

They made it pretty clear the robberies were involving the new MC members....at least one of them (The one with the prosthetic leg). But then after this episode it was clear they were all involved and it's part of Clay's power play. I didn't suspect Clay of being behind it until I read someone comment about that on some review site. Decent episode. Sheriff's gonna be pissed for a while now.
Clay continues to just be an asshole. But, I really think everything that happened in the last moments of the episode will shape how the rest of the season plays out.
Anyone else getting super meh'd out on this season? I am watching, but it is becoming my lowest priority show by far.
Hell no. I mean, once Jax's plan became common knowledge it kind of took away from the tension of the show a bit, I'll give you that, but as one would expect his plan isn't going to work and they are setting things up for next season a bit.
Seeing how he handles the Tig/Pope situation will be interesting, too.
Btw, I listened to this with the Civil Wars' "The Violent Hour" playing and wanted to crawl in a hole for a few hours.

I stand by it. It just feels like characters are doing what they are doing because it fits where Sutter wants the story to go rather than any logical reason that fits with their character.

Can you go into more detail?
Certain characters, yes I'd agree with you, but the main characters I would disagree with that statement.
Jax's season long search for "proof" of what Clay did when they have acted on way less for the other four seasons.
The whole Tara-Otto tear jerking session.
Juice has always been the least hard member of the gang, but, Jesus Christ, he cries at the drop of a hat now.
Gemma telling Clay anything of value about Tara and Jax.
Nero's "I'm out of the gang. I'm out of the gang. Oh wait. I will kill everyone in the world" turn.
Nero's ex-gang showing up to the gun meet armed to the teeth after setting up the meet due to them begging for guns.
The whole shootout at the deal with the Irish this week.
Okay.
1 - Have they ever acted against a brother without cause? I'm not talking Juice shooting Miles or something like that. I mean where things were out on the table and a brother acted against the vote? I can't remember one off the top of my head.
I think the last episode the way Jax showed his feelings of betrayal from Bobby showed that by bringing it to the table he kind of killed Jax's chance of offing Clay behind the club's back. It's playing on the age-old idea of rules to the underworld, just not the rules made by lawmakers.
2- What was wrong with it? I understand that they've done the "M.C. getting in the way of Tara furthering his career" thing before, but now she's making a decision without Jax's blessing. Her wanting to do something for the club was, at least to me, her doing one last good deed before bolting.
3- Yeah, Juice annoys the f*ck out of me. Especially when he does that weird face with he juts his chin out and pinches his mouth together.
The scene where he's running off to have sex with what's-her-name (crazy brothel co-owner) was the only time all season I can remember him even smiling.
4- Has Gemma done that? I don't remember her diming any crucial info to Clay.
5- Love, es a muthaf*cka, eh?
6- ....wasn't that the Cartel trying to put the hit on Jax?
7- Shootout was necessary to set up next season's plot (I'm assuming a beef with the IRA...again), but I agree it was a little over the top. I think they were trying to show that even when Jax feels things are in control, they aren't. He's the boss of his club, but he's not his own boss. But I agree, that scene wasn't necessary to show that.
8- Not sure what they could have done differently. A few scenes with Jax talking to Opie's grave/a photo? I'll admit I thought there would be at least one long monologue where Jax "talks" to Opie when he's at his wits end. I thought an episode before this past one would've been perfect for it, but I guess they don't want Jax to seem like he's slipping or anything.
It was very tense, surprisingly tense in fact. Was surprised about how everything came together, the main thing I didn't like was how Clay just went silently when the Sheriff showed up with the gun.
Gemma is one of the few TV characters I hate like a real person, though, so that's a hat tip to the writers and Katey Sagal.
I think the whole dynamic with Jax turning into Clay is pretty interesting, as it's obvious his dark side is a big part of his decision making now. Not sure what the big plot line is going to be for next season, though, they can't drag out Tara's arrest/trial for an entire season as the main storyline, and the same goes for the "Gemma sold out Jax's wife to keep her from taking the kids, except Jax doesn't respect his mother and is crazily in love with his wife" storyline, whatever comes from it.
The US Marshall can't be that big of a character, he's just some random guy (unless he somehow made it so Tara was indicted, then I can see him being a major character with a gang of ex-special forces buddies or something).
I thought the season was good, not their best, but still very entertaining.

I just noticed that you responded when I was hunting for the Breaking Bad thread. In the time between the finale and now, I have gone from "you suck, Sutter!" to "meh". I don't think the show is terrible now, but it just pales so severely when compared to other shows on TV, i.e. FX, you are doing yourself a disservice by running trailers for Justified during this show.
