Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
I just wanted to chime in and say that this thread has been a hell of a crash course on the history of inforoo. So thank you all for that.
I'm pretty sure someone could write a thesis on the politics of message boards after reading all this. Please don't yell at me, I know I'm new here, but in the long run, aren't we all just gonna go to 'Roo and have a fantastic time? There's so much in life to take seriously, why add an internet message board to that list? (Especially one that's dedicated to something that, for most of us, is the most carefree weekend of the year.)
I haven't gone back to look at that meltdown, although I should because that thread was great, but I don't reember if Sproat actually threatened flanzo, or if it was more of a challenge. Either way, that statute of message board limitations has probably passed. I know his one big threat of a fellow member came in person at Roo, and not on the boards, so he can't really be banned for that.
Wait what Sproat threatened someone in person at Roo?

there are three signature that force me to keep them turned off because of browsing at work. emoney. costanza. and the bouncing katy perry ta-tas. i aint mad tho, it actually makes reading the boards easier, but harder to identify people.

it was juggs. thats why he's never shown his face since.
I know that was in good fun Phi, but I actually enjoy Jugg's posts. I know they can be a little harsh. But I will always have respect for him because he defended me to the NYC bus guy when he called me a bad mother for bringing my kids to Bonnaroo.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for people that compliment my parenting skills. Even if I've never met them.
This is why I like Inforoo over Facebook. On FB you can only "like" post, you can not "dislike" post. Sometimes I just want to "dislike" something and I can not! It pisses me off. On Inforoo I can do that. I can "like" certain things and I can "dislike" other post. I have my Karma turned off, so the "like" and "dislike" options work well for me. Thanks Inforoo for adding these options.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I really don't want to post the link, because I come off like an ape, but whatever. This is also the thread where he brags about making a fellow inforooster cry. He also makes it seem like Lono is his sidekick for this event, which I doubt was truly the case.
Enjoy (the fun starts on Page 2, with a guest post by Lono that is just...magnificent):

Wait....so Sproat threatened people in the inforoo chat and that's the threat you were mainly talking about? If so, you know we don't moderate the chat....can you explain the threat (or threats) in more detail please?
Also, if anyone can give me a link (either in PM or on here) to Sproat physically threatening people on here that'd be helpful. Thanks.

More like "ever," nevermind "since."
And alas, it was not I - I didn't even attend the Bonnaroo where the fracas in question occurred. I was actually extremely interested as to who the other party involved was, but it seems as if a vow of silence has been taken by all who witnessed it.

If it is real Lono seems to know the details he would be a good person to ask.

Yea i'll be trying to find out about the "making someone cry" from him but I'm also interested in the threats made on here that people kept bringing up. I would like to see them or know more about them and find out if there were threats on here that I'm not aware of or if the threats were made in the chat with others.

#freeemoney
I'm pretty sure some of us got the full story, either here on the boards or in chat, and it involved someone who is still active on the boards. My memory may or may not be working correctly, but its not my story to tell.
I think there is a big difference between me getting banned and emoney getting banned. In my case it would be unjust because I have not done anything worthy of it.
Herein lies the problem - YOU don't think that YOU have done anything worthy of it. Well, I'm pretty sure E Money doesn't think he's done anything worthy of it, either. And for once, I'm not just saying that you're displaying a lack of self-awareness here. It's more that in a place without any sort of concrete rules, who gets banned and who doesn't often comes down to a whim, or to a subjective decision. Rather than say "okay, here's the deal: if you do x, y, and z you will get a warning. If you keep it up, you'll get banned," it's just kind of a general "don't irritate the wrong people" mentality. And there should be some of that, and I think that to some extent the mods should be "moderating intentions."
I really disagree here modding IS subjective and should be. If they laid out a series of concrete rules all we would get is a bunch of 22 year olds who remember their glory days in Young Lawyers and want to push the rules as far as they can. Mods need the ability to say "that's enough out of you just stop", there is no reason for them to have to cite a chapter and verse rule.

If that's the case then fine, but those same mods also shouldn't then get upset when people complain about subjective rulings that seem to favor certain members over others. And as I noted there needs to be some subjectivity, and things like intent should be taken into consideration, but otherwise we're stuck with dumb arguments like "well, people complained about E Money and he posted pictures in a thread so he's out" vs. "but wait, I've complained about Jess and he did the same thing, why don't you ban him" which just leads to more nonsense conflicts. Because when there's nothing concrete to rely on, rather than saying "look, here are the rules, E Money did x, y and z, he was told not to, continued to do so, and was banned," it's "well E Money did some stuff that lots of other people do as well, but enough people complained about him and he's not someone who we like and who gets any sort of extra consideration, so he's gone." I mean, it is what it is, but it leaves a bad taste in people's mouth.
Oh, and yes, yes, interwebs serious business butthurt whining complaining and so on.
