It was only ok anyways. Don't know how far you got on it, but you're not missing much.
Got about halfway through. Didn't blow me away, but didn't think it was bad by any means. Just sounded like more Purity Ring to me (which I do enjoy from time to time). But there's no way it stands a chance for March AotM for me. Between Liturgy, Lightning Bolt, and the upcoming Godspeed You! Black Emperor, it's going to be a tough enough choice as it is. Speaking of which, putting Lightning Bolt back on, then some more Liturgy.
Lightning Bolt - Fantasy Empire
Liturgy - The Ark Work
Edit: and come on Phyre Fest, you're not too cool to label! And that's not even the album art work

That's kind of how I felt about the new Purity Ring album. There were a few great tracks, but the album as a whole isn't really that memorable. I really liked Shrines, but was let down by this one. It seems like I'm being consistently disappointed by bands that I used to like a lot. I don't know if my taste is just changing or if there has been a drop in the quality of their work. I've been disappointed by several bands recently: Alt-J, Purity Ring, Matt & Kim (those new songs SUCK), and of Montreal are the ones that come to mind right now.

That's definitely the case with Alt-J! I love An Awesome Wave, but don't think I've even put the new one on in months. In my mind, I'm just going with the band ceased to exist after AAW. That way they go out on top, and I don't have to sully their memory.

Yeah, I'm really not sure what happened with that new album. It just sounds like rehashed ground from their first album, except worse. Like a mediocre Alt-J tribute band. I'm wondering if the label was pressuring them for another release to capitalize on their success, which caused them to grind out that piece of shit. I just hope that The XX doesn't release a stinker this year too, or I will be heartbroken.
