I was interested in seeing where he would go with this being his first time as self producer and having it released on his own label instead of Lost Highway. It feels more like a handcrafted album. A couple of the songs (Guess Who's Knocking, Heart Of Rhythm) dissappointed me lyrically, but had that great punk vibe you get at his live shows. Keep It Together and Too Deep To Fill were both good listens.

Nah, man, I appreciate the perspective! He kind of lost me after Mescalito, but I'm always interested in hearing what he does and there are plenty of great moments on each album. A few cringe worthy lyrics here and there. That's not new, though. Sounding handcrafted is a good way of describing this. It sounds like a guy left to his own devices and I like the variety it allows for.
