Do you think Late Night hosts hate some of the guests that they have on just for publicity's sake? I feel like the nature of their job leads to them being pretty fake in most interviews. Some are worse than others. (Looking at you Fallon)
After watching the Conan documentary I'm pretty sure he hates almost everyone.
You can tell the way he responds following comics and musical guests if he's actually impressed or at least enjoyed the act.

Yea, he genuinely sounds excited for bands/comics that he likes/loves. Like he gets a big smile on his face and makes sure to shake everyone's hand. Then there are others where it's like "Hey...thanks so much that was great....goodnight".
What does having a tattoo have to do with Flanzo's point you quoted?
Nothing on its own. But when you combine it with the fact that he wrote an entire book on becoming an American citizen, and was invited as the comedian for the White House Correspondents Dinner, and had Desmond Tutu stop by to chat, and had the Deputy Chief Minister of Australia publicly take offense to one of his jokes...yeah, you start to think that maybe politics plays a heavy hand in his act.

He also gets quite irked when the musical guest is too cool to actually be there for the taping (as happened when kdogg and I went to a shoot).
If he doesn't get up and shake their hand at the end, they're not really there.

It still doesn't address Flanzo's point that one show is primarily about politics while the other is about a variety of topics. All those outside factors definitely tell me Ferguson knows politics and can likely joke about it intelligently. I'm sure Ferguson gets in some political humor on his show but he also touches on a lot of other things that doesn't get touched on Colbert's show. I think that's what Flanzo was saying there.
You are taking things about Ferguson in real life and applying them to the argument about his late night talk show. I don't think I'd call his show political.
We now turn to MSNBC political correspondent, Craig Ferguson.
This has nothing to do with his talk show or the point Flanzo was making. I'm not sure what you're trying to say at this point. Nobody is arguing that Ferguson doesn't know politics. It was more about the structure/content of his late night talk show which really isn't political.
Colbert Report is primarily a satirical show about politics. For 30 minutes he talks about politicians and issues and other governmental stuff.
Ferguson talks about daily news, entertainment, and maybe gets in some political jokes as well.
Posting a picture from the White House Correspondents dinner from a few years ago and a snapshot of him on Countdown with Keith Olberman does not make him a political analyst or correspondent.
He likes politics, understood.
For the record, I like Ferguson a lot and like his commentary on most subjects. My point was, and still is, that his show is not a show about politics, while Colbert's is.
(wtf did I start here?) Colbert might be one of the most in touch people in the media. The best comedians do satire --- and seriously there is gun violence everyday. When is it ever time to talk about the gun culture?? It's not a sacred cow for anyone. Keeping your mouth shut about the US doesn't fix the US
*I respect Fergusen for just saying f it no ones watching, I will do this show how I want. I don't always think he's terribly funny but he has his moments - and is genuine.

Before this year, I haven't been in a post office in a long time. I've had to go 3 times this month.
How is it possible that morning, noon or night at the post office it is me and 400 really, really old people? What do they all do when they're not at the post office?
A full third of every Colbert Report is dedicated to the guest. Out of this week's six guests, none of them are political. All are actors, directors, authors, and singers. That would still leave two-thirds of every show as being political, except that he has a tendency to do stuff like this...
And this...
And this...
They both cover current events, political and otherwise. Simple as that.
My mom got this as a gift from co-workers. And I'm struggling to stop at 2 pieces right now. I ate the strawberry truffle and the cashew-raspberry-caramel-cluster
My company processed the order that sent this to your mom.

My little brother and I had to go collect eggs when we were young. I remember going into the hen house one morning and the chickens were going crazy. We immediately thought the dogs had gotten in. Once inside we saw a possum had one of our two roosters in a teeth neck hold. It backed up in the corner, dropped the bloodly half alive rooster and started hissing at us. We ran like hell. RIP Rooster #2
