Was over $3/hr less than what I am making now, with no health insurance. As much as I don't like my job now, I need better than that.
oh damn. yeah, that's no good.
I don't understand how full time positions can not offer insurance. It's either you need to be married and reliant upon someone, and/or living on welfare. How's that a way to make a living?
Same with any job that pays under 15 an hour around here.

The awful company I work for doesn't offer benefits, either. It's despicable.
(Luckily we get them through my wife since she's got solid teacher benefits.)
Massachusetts requires that all full time employees must be offered health insurance. Unfortunately the company I work for has under the threshold of number of employees for the mandate.

Yeah, our management company established each of their hotels as separate companies to avoid their responsibility to provide health insurance. I don't think that it would hold up in court but nobody has challenged them on it thus far. I'm hoping someone does, though.
Ran into King gizzard outside the venue 2 hours before the show. Completely sold out. Mentioned bonnaroo and they asked if I was coming tonight. I said I was looking for tickets. They put my name on the list with a +4. Not only am I standing in a crowd waiting for them to come on stage, but it was free.

Also, I'm not much on reading erotica with lots of words and letters and no pics but this is worth a read NSFW. Fanfic of an erotic encounter between Ted Cruz and Guy Fieri

That's awesome, couldn't have worked out better!
Did you mention you were at the show in that tiny Ford barn? That was a super intimate/awkward show. The results of a 6" stage and my height mean I'm locking eyes with them often, standing close enough to get hit with their guitars.
I love that they let the crowd basically pick that whole set list. I remember the guitarist that plays the red guitar didn't want to play my request, "God is Calling Me Back Home", but Stu said, "Nah, let's do it!"
And who can forget the dad rock DJ that kept the party rocking with Ford trivia?

Good times
That show was awesome! The band could barely even fit on the stage

Good times
we talked for 5 mins about the Ford barn show. I mentioned to those pre show Ford guys that the roof was gonna fall. They told King grizz to keep it mellow. They did for 2 songs, and then when it filled up... Well, we know what happened
I mean, I can't top the night off without a little drunken critique of the show, and that is just the simple fact that if it were not for John Dwyer and the oh sees, King gizzard would not exist. There plenty of times where my conscious mind stopped and wondered how they got away with completely borrowing the sound. And the front man even played his guitar up high s few times fitting thriving that sounds like "block of ice".
All that said, to their absolute credit, there were times I couldn't tell I wasn't at an oh sees show. And with the current state of thee oh sees, somebody needs to carry the tourch. Long live King griz

That's so cool. Happy for you. Hope you had a kickass time.

From those of you that don't know, "they sound like they completely ripped off thee oh sees" is the highest praise Boner could give a band.
Big Bend is an incredible place. I just had a magical weekend of hiking in the mountains and soaking in a hot springs under the stars. I even swam across the Rio Grande into Mexico haha. I've never seen desert mountains/valleys on that grand of a scale before. Totally blown away the entire time. Rothric you don't know it but your post about going there is what sparked my interest which then directly led to this weekend. Thank you. All the Texas people on here need to get your butts down there. Everyone I talked to this weekend was having a very similar experience in terms of enjoyment and being in awe. Can't wait to go back.

That's so cool, had no idea my post would inspire anyone to check it out
It really I amazing, I can't wait to go back.
Did you check out the town of Terlingua? If you're still in the area, check it out too. Cool old desert rat town, think you'd love it.
But absolutely agree, worth going to without question.
In Carlsbad now but will keep that in mind for next time. I might spend next winter in Austin and if so Big Bend is a huge priority. Miss it already. White Sands tomorrow!
Life tip: buy cheap hot dogs, but don't buy the cheapest hot dogs. Trust me.
Hebrew National or bust.
Hebrew National, or Nathan's, or bust. I prefer the former, but I'll gladly accept the latter. Ballpark or Stadium mustard, onions, and maybe a touch of ketchup. Mmm.

Nice! White Sands is like being dropped in an alien world, and Carlsbad is awe inspiring too. Hell of a trip you're on!

I am currently online shopping, and I thought this was a funny review for some shoes:
These shoes are nice looking, but . . . Lacing these shoes up will drive you crazy. When you have the time for it, no worries, but don't reach for these shoes if your in a hurry. These shoes make me so angry if I could get my hands on the person who designed them or approved the design I'd kick his FKG ass.
They are fine if you have all day and unlimited time to put them on. If not, PLEASE DO NOT pick up these shoes YOU WILL BE SORRY.
