It was technically at the school event right after the prom.
My high school did/does this thing where they have an event back at the high school after prom. They have entertainers and activities and raffle off a bunch of prizes. Mostly stuff like gift cards to places in town or small electronics. The bigger items are like a laptop, a small TV, a big gift certificate, etc. But the big grand prize is a car.
They do this event to keep kids from going out and getting absolutely wasted at parties and stuff. My buddies and I didn't really want to go but one of their girlfriend's mom demanded we go so they could maybe win the car. It wasn't that big of a deal because we were able to drink/party a bit before going to the post-prom thing anyway.
So the night goes on and it drags a while because everyone's basically just waiting for the car raffle. I happened to be the winner for my year. Luckily, too, because the first name called wasn't there (they must have left early) and the rules were you have to be there to win your item. I got the car and while it wasn't brand new it was a huge upgrade from what I was driving.
I almost missed out on it, too. My date asked me to join her and her friends in the city where they were getting a hotel room. I would have had to leave my friends (we had a limo together) and miss post-prom and while I probably would have had a fun night I declined (we weren't dating....just went together and would flirt occasionally but weren't like an item). I went to post-prom with my friends and won a car. I felt like a movie star when I told my parents. I woke them up when I got home and they were like "who won the car?" and I acted all sly before throwing them the keys. That woke them right up.

Dang... very well played.
My best buddy won a car a few years ago. He put his name in a drawing from a dealership and promptly forgot about it. When he got the phone call a couple months later, he was sure he was being Punk'd.
I went to no proms too. I refused to be a part of a ridiculous tradition where I had to spend a bunch of money on an uncomfortable dress to spend the evening with a bunch of people I didn't even like.
Went to prom 4 different times. One of the occasions was pretty exciting, the others were duds.
First time I went was major disappointment. Thought I was losing the V-card that night, had it all planned out. Got cock-blocked by the mother of my date. That bitch.
Can anyone suggest a good place for white water rafting near Manchester or northern Georgia? Friend and I are thinking about heading up there June 10th
The Ocoee is your best bet, closer to Chattanooga/North Georgia. The rivers in middle Tennessee aren't really equipped for white water rafting.
I wish it was still ok to call people and see if they can come play outside with me. I just want to play outside...
I think this all the goddamn time. But I decided a while ago to just say fuck it and ask people anyway. I can't promise they're all as excited as I am, but whatever. #playdates5evr
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

some days i think about purposely running my toes over with the lawnmower so i have an excuse to not push it up and down this dang hill every week for the entire summer.
edit: i'm sorry, steph. that was a beautiful post and i ruined it.
Take my last final of the semester tonight, in the class that I have hated 2nd most ever since I started college. It's a graduate class on Research Methods. They told me if I didn't enjoy it or didn't do well in the class then I should prob stay away from trying to get my PhD...I didn't plan on it before the class, and I certainly don't now.

Landmark '15, it'll happen. She and I can both carry around signs with each other's names printed out in Comic Sans upon them, to find each other in the masses.

My wife basically just told me I'm going to hell for leaving Mumford for Slayer.
You should show her all of the Christian Metal bands that are popular now-a-days. I've done that to a few "Metal is the devil's music blah blah blah" people.
