Ok, I have a couple questions, since this is starting to bug me a little bit.
Question #1: I find that while club/venue are more expensive on the whole, they're better experiences generally than going to a festival (Bonnaroo may be an exception, I'l find out in 2016.) Am I alone in this?
Question #2: I'm a senior in high school and have my colleges narrowed to three: Mizzou, Minnesota-Twin Cities, and Arizona State. What are the concert scenes like in Columbia, Minneapolis1, and Phoenix2? Not that these would be huge factors in my decision (ok they'd be sort of big, I want to enjoy my time at uni), but I'd like to know regardless.
Question #3: For Mizzou specifically, how easy is it to get from Columbia to St. Louis/KC?
1. smellycat, help me out here. 2. I'm studying journalism, which is on the Phoenix campus.
I can't in good conscience ever recommend asu to anyone but if you got accepted to the Walter kronkite that is one of the best journalism schools in the country. And the downtown campus is infinitely better than Tempe and within walking distance of my favorite club venue in the country the crescent ballroom. Plus the u of a Phoenix campus is right there so you can just pretend you go to a respectable university

mpls has a pretty great scene man. lots of venues with tons of diff styles of music coming through. a First Ave show is a must, saw skrillex there in 2013 and it was the most awesome thing i've ever been to, well besides rage against the machine during the RNC in minneapolis when the target center was surrounded by swat team when the concert ended

Question #2: I went to college at the UofM - Twin Cities. I'm gonna have to second the Minneapolis love for sure. If you're a fan of seasons, we have ones that desperately don't fuck around, similarly to the music scene here. Plenty of venues, music every night, and the venues are all totally different. First Ave vs the Varsity, for example, are worlds apart. Shows aren't typically that expensive for smaller acts, in my experience over the past several years. The only thing is that bands drive right past Minnesota all the time. Oh and they won't let you take your drink out of venues, but we don't need to get into that again. The crowds aren't too ridiculous in terms of behavior, but if you go to shows like Girl Talk or Crystal Castles at First Ave, shit's gonna go up, regardless of where you are. Another thing is the hipster folk all over this city, but once you're in a venue, it's pretty easy to get along with everyone. I think that applies to most venues, though.
People have an enormous appreciation for music here and I think that is reflected in how successfully sweet the scene is.
edit. Also, let the music scene be a huge factor in where you go. I switched universities partially because I was tired of driving to Minneapolis all the time for shows. So I said to hell with it, when don't I just live here?

we actually had my work holiday party at The Varsity a couple weeks back, it was fucking sweet.
on another note, nothing better than watching Ohio State pound alabams like little kids, phrasing
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Just wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy New Years! I joined Inforoo in October, and it has been an interesting ride to say the least. I'm an introvert and a fairly reserved person, but even I can tell that the Inforoo community has so many truly genuine people. Thanks for all the entertaining discussions, whether music-related or not, and thanks for sharing your wealth of music knowledge. Music is a wonderful thing that touches people every day, and discovering new music is a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. Cheers and best wishes for happy, successful, and memorable 2015!

I distanced myself from my entire family 17 years ago due to disagreement about how important religion and annual salary should be in a persons life. I say that because I have family in that area and the young lady shares the last name as mine. Awesome. Also, my boss and I usually hit up waffle house on Fridays for waffle Fridays. He's a big FSU fan, I don't think we're getting waffles today lol
My life goes back to normal on Monday. On one hand .. my wife doesn't trust me with two infants. On the other .. we have a sitter. That means nothing for you, personally. But for me, it means eating Cheetos in my boxers (and catching up on a virtual fuckton of music).
It's kinda like my birthday but different.
