Didn't want to put this in the Grr, but I have to put it somewhere.
The last day and a half or so has been just wild... I was supposed to leave with my mom and step dad for our annual trip to Kentucky yesterday afternoon. That didn't happen because I got a call late Christmas night from my mom telling me that my step dad (who has diabetes, is in his 60s, and not particularly great health to begin with) fell in their kitchen and broke his hip. It took the doctors over a day to get close to the point of being ready to put him under the knife, but this morning they found that he had/has a temperature of 103. Come to find out he got pneumonia at some point in the hospital... a little scary with all the possibilities that could come of this.
Right now, I'm keeping their dog so my mom can stay with him for the most part in the hospital, doing random errands for them. Mom says the docs seem optimistic about it all, but I can't help but be a little scared for the potential outcomes (mortality rate for an over 60, diabetes patient, broken hip, AND newly contracted pneumonia? forgive me for being pessimistic).

Stay positive. You are doing all you can for them. If he has full blown pneumonia now, he may have been getting it before he went into the hospital. Might even be why he fell. They have lots of good antibiotics to hit him with and your Mom to look after him. Will send good thought he pulls through with flying colors.

Boner, there was a Canadian in my office building today. Are there any special steps I should take to avoid coming down with Canadian? I don't wanna start thinking a denim jacket with jeans is a good look!

Talk about hockey, and how cool it is that it's played on ice, just the real basics of the sport it's self, but make it clear you are completely unaware of any professional competitions such as the NHL. After that conversation is over, state that you've always wondered what it would be like to ride on a dog sled, and ask how igloos don't melt when you have a fire burning inside. Sure fire way to prevent catching any canadaiana
There's a bonzai in the Nash. Suddenly I feel all the liquor disappearing.
I am issuing a pre-emptive APB on a severe wine shortage in and around Music City. Best head over to your nearest vino barn and stock up like it's bread and milk in a storm.
Guilty as charged. Well, moreso on the bus, but still. What can I say, I likes my space. Part of the reason I'm living somewhere so sparsely populated.

It's no big deal as long as there's space available, but it's obnoxious when there's not. I somehow always end up next to "this guy" on airplanes.

F*ck that guy on airplanes. Same dude who puts his seat back when people are eating on their tray...which happens to be connected to their f*cking seat. And he also takes 100% of BOTH arm rests.
The ex sent me a fb friend request. I suggested we follow each other elsewhere first. He then says he doesn't care either way. Why send the request in the first place?
Hey , I just realised that 1001 albums list includes Belle & Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister. Which I am, thanks. The schadenfreude is strong with this one!
This is the last day of my 5 day weekend and I'm bored out of my mind. And after I return to work tomorrow and work Monday, I have another 5 day weekend starting Tuesday morning. :\
