It was quite disappointing. 45 minutes tops... He came on stage at 7:30 sharp (understandable, he travels with his 5 kids and wife on tour) and he spent the final 10 minutes doing the same exact Hot Pocket bit. Almost word-for-word.
I understand that's what he is most known for...but comedy is different from music. Im fine with a band playing a few of their hits at every single show (especially if it's 2+ hours of other material) but something about hearing the same joke over and over just isn't funny.
Anyways... Dave Cheppelle rolled thru here a few months back and killed it. He came on 2 hours late but it was well worth it.
My daughter came home from her dad's a day early because he and his gf were fighting. Not only did he call and apologize, but he took both my kids to a movie today to make up for it. I don't know what's real anymore.

Wow, I'd be kind of pissed after that. I love Jim, but that's pretty lazy.

This is why I love Louis CK, he scraps his act entirely each year.
It's just not the same hearing the same jokes year after year. I'd be disappointed too.

That's really nice. He sounds like a decent guy; good for your little girl

I felt the same way when my son's dad called me to see if Caleb could wait until bedtime to come over. They were hungover (him and his wife are super strict and religious, and are always "praying for me"). I felt like I was in a weird dream..

Louis CK will go down as one of the greats. I freaking love him.
He really is. Id love to see him somewhere.
I saw Craig Robinson (The Office, Hot-Tub Time-Machine, etc..) last year and he was much better than I anticipated. He played the keyboard the entire time. Either funny songs or just as a musical backdrop to his jokes I guess. He was very creative.
For some reason my town gets more big comedians than we do musical acts. I usually have to hit up Memphis/Dallas/Tulsa/KC/STL to see a lot of bands.

I saw Louis CK in Atlanta, and it was one of my favorite things I've ever done.
I saw Chris Rock in Atlanta and was really disappointed because it was right before the 2008 election, and the whole show was one big Obama endorsement. I don't have a problem with him endorsing Obama or anyone else for that matter, but that's not what I paid to see.
I think I had a dream that I was watching TV and a commercial came on to go buy Depeche Mode VIP tickets right now with special guest Bat for Lashes. It was a cool dream until I got up this morning and had an email receipt for the two packages that I somehow bought at 3:04 am. I need to get the sleepwalking looked into or stop drinking. I don't know about the Bat for Lashes part (unless it really was on TV and got into my brain subliminally). The only thing I can find about tour openers is that Crystal Castles are doing at least some NA shows.

Bat for Lashes are opening some shows. I heard it on the radio of all places. So yeah man, bizarre.

I've seen Umphrey's before, not either of the other two. Hadn't even heard of Elephant Revival but checked them out and I'd be willing to check out a show for sure. So guys, what do you think? I figure the 2 Umphrey's shows can't be that different, but I've never seen them on back to back nights, so is that a safe assumption? Anybody seen the other two acts live?

I'd say Umphrey's is generally as diversified as one band could be playing back to back nights. Huge catalog, a lot of different sounding stuff. That said, no reason not to mix it up.

So you live in Fayetteville?
I went to school there, just moved back to LR in '10.
I worked security at George's for a little while... made a trip up there for Big G last month.

Yea I missed out on Big G but got to see Yonder Mountain String Band a few weeks ago.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
