I'm going to implode Philly if they don't stop this "dream team" idiocy.
McCoy already hurt his hamstring. Jackson is holding out. Maclin already hurt himself.
Vick is a huge injury risk.
They have no line.
They have no safeties or linebackers.
They're a top 5 team this year, no doubt, but if the media doesn't stop beating the "dream team" drum (and I see it as insulting to the real dream team to call this team that name) I may lose my mind.
They were pumping up a boderline starting RT because he signed with the Eagles. Somehow that makes him good, apparently.
No, It's Chad Ochocinco. He actually went to court and legally changed his last name. Personally i think it's kinda brilliant.
It's especially brilliant when you realize that "Ochocinco" is not "85," as in his number, but is rather "8, 5." "85" would be "Ochenta y cinco."
After getting embarrassed by Mr. Hell Relle Revis he was supposed to change it back to Johnson. Now that he's on the Pats, he will never, ever, ever, ever, ever be allowed to forget that.

it's been marked on mine for months. One of my roommates is an Iggles fan, and we'll be at the game.
We had a free practice and our poor fans, who got in for free, booed Henne, good or bad, you do not boo someone in practice! Then those piss-poor-fuckers started chanting for Orton. Some people suck. Go Phins!

McCoy is fine and we have a great backup in Ronnie Brown. Maclin is ill, not injured. Hopefully he is better by the start of the season. We'll see what happens with Jackson. I'd like to see him at camp, but he needs to get paid. One of the most explosive players in the game shouldnt be getting only 500k. I bet he reports to camp by August 9th. We have other receiving threats in Avant and Celek as well. And again this year I bet McCoy will be the top receiver.
Vick is no more of an injury risk than any other starting QB. And since we unloaded Kolb, we got Vince Young as a backup.
Dont forget that we have Howard Mudd as our o-line coach who coached the outstanding Colts line. The left side of our o-line is fine with Peters and Herremans. Nick Cole and Jean-Gilles who stunk it up at right guard are both gone and replaced by rookie Danny Watkins. And yea the right tackle we picked up has started quite a few games so I consider that a good pickup for sure. Yes the o-line is my biggest worry, but its definitely improved since last year. Our d-line has a number of great players on it and are now coached by Jim Washburn formerly of the Titans. Not only are we picking up players, but good coaches too.
True, we don't have a star linebacker. But the great defenses of Jim Johnson never had a great linebacker besides a few years of Trotter. We do have a good young OLB in Jamar Chaney who played well last year and rookie Casey Matthews is looking good in practice at MLB. Andy Reid has always placed his defensive focus on stopping the pass with shutdown corners to allow the line to attack the QB. He has never placed a high value on linebackers over the dline and secondary. And we have a great young safety in Nate Allen who had 3 picks last year before injury. Also is they keep Samuel which i hope they do, we could see a lot of 3 CB sets or Nnamdi as safety.
And cmon does it really personally offend you to hear espn reference the dream team? Noone in Philly is calling it the dream team so dont get angry over the espn talking heads trying to hype up storylines. We're looking like a good team on paper, but right now everyone knows the team to beat is the Packers. Who knows what happens with injuries and whatnot.

Look, as I said in my post, I think the Eagles are a top 5 team. I might not have said it here, but my roommate is an Eagles fan so I know them as well as I know the Pats.
The reason I say Vick is more of an injury risk is because he puts himself out there more than an average QB. His good outweighs the bad in this regard, so long as he doesn't get his leg snapped or something. The O-line is in my eyes the biggest weakness (by far) on the team. It's not anything new for an inexperienced line to come together and play well late in the season into the playoffs. You guys are loaddddded at skill positions, it's all dependent on the line pulling it together.
Defensively, you are doing what you've been doing since Reid got there (get after the QB and sign opportunistic DB's). Your entire defensive season hinges on an ability to stop the run. In 2009 the Jets were incredible against the pass. Teams figured it out and grinded out wins by running through them. If the Eagles can prevent the same fat. they're golden.
As a jets fan, I prefer the Eagles to well over the Giants, as they taunt and trash-talk worse than Yankee fans (obviously concerned they're being passed by the other NY team). Oh, and feel free to be one of the other teams that beast the Pats like Rex asked for in his first presser. Pats had 3 losses last year, 2 by the Jets. Help us out and we'll pummel the Gmen on Xmas eve. Promise.

I see Asante moving to safety before NA does. Asante is more of a ball hawk. Why move probably the best 1 on 1 corner in the league to a position that won't have him lined up over the other team's #1 most of the snaps. I will get in on this league if there's still a spot, shoot me a pm.
Edit: Just looked up Jim Johnson's defense because I couldn't remember what kind of coverage he ran behind blitzes. Since its a lot of zone I don't see any of the corners moving to safety. None of them are particularly skilled blitzers, with NA probably being the best just because he's the most physical.

That's why i figured Nnamdi would get moved to safety if anyone does, just because he's such a big DB and could come up in blitzes and provide security against the run like Dawkins did.
And flanzonyc, I do agree the eagles weak point is the o-line, but we still have the Peters and Herremans anchoring the left. It remains to be seen if the right side of the line can perform. I see what youre saying about Vick now. But after years of seeing McNabb refuse to run with the ball only to scramble a bit and get sacked, I'm all for Vick using his legs to advance the ball. And believe me, I would thoroughly enjoy seeing the Eagles beat the Pats. I think the Jets would be a tougher team to beat than the Pats, but it would be so satisfying to beat the Pats. And yea i kinda root for the Jets just because I dislike the Giants. I'd say the Jets have already surpassed the Giants
EDIT: Samuel, Rogers-Cromartie and Nnamdi havent been on the field much together at practice, but they recently "fielded an intriguing dime package that had Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie on the corners, Joselio Hanson as a nickelback and Asomugha as a sort of quasi-linebacker or rover, covering the tight end"

I saw the Panthers practice this past Saturday and Cam looked good. He will be behind center week 1 for sure. Clausen looked like Clausen, not good. Greg Olsen look very good as well. Legedu Naanee looked good when he was involved, it was only his second practice so he wasn't as involved as others. Charles Johnson was being the beast he normally is. Both Willams and Stewart looked healthy and productive. I think both the RBs will have a great year granted they stay healthy. It was nice to see a healthy Jeff Otah out on the field as well. I think the Panthers can actually make some noise in the NFC South. They won't make the playoffs or anything but they will make some noise

Panthers have made some solid moves heading into the season. If they can stay healthy and Newton pans out then they could be set up very well for the future. They need to see some development out of the receivers, though.

The problem for them is just how good the NFC South is right now. Saints and Falcons are both Super Bowl-caliber teams, and Tampa Bay is right behind them. I also think Carolina's schedule has been ranked #1 in difficulty.

I think Naanee will do well. David Gettis is a solid number 3. Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen will help out in the receiving game. Mike Goodson is solid catching the ball out of the backfield if he can hold on to it after he catches it. The Panthers almost had Santana Moss but the Redskins matched their offer(that wouldve been huge for Carolina). They do need more productivity out of the WR though. I expect the TE to get a lot of looks this year. Good pass catching TE is a rookie QBs dream.

Apparently Gettis, Lafell, and Edwards are currently battling for the #2 spot with Gettis & Lafell to be the most likely to emerge, but Rivera has said Edwards will be getting plenty of opportunities based on what he has shown in practice. GO APP!
In related talk, my Ravens need a veteran #2 receiver. Hopefully they can land Cotchery or trade for Lee Evans, those seem the most likely possibilities. I am very happy with the Ricky Williams signing.

Is there something wrong with Mason? The Jets picked him up and I'm looking for a reason why I shouldn't be excited, but I can't find one.

I would be happy if I were you, but he is getting old so this could be the year his production takes a hit.
