Confession: I barely even know what you all are talking about. I had to look up "stuffie" the first time it was mentioned. I couldn't decide if you guys were talking about food or something corn related!
And just to add to the debate: The only clam chowder in central CT is always NE Clam Chowder.. white and creamy... I have never seen it any other way
Haha. Most people don't realize that CT and RI are thousands of miles apart!
Yeah, I'm lost on this whole RI speak too. And I live a few miles down the road from the state line. I just don't go over that way much, and I don't think I've ever done anything in South County.
The only clam chowder I'm aware of is N.E., the white and creamy. Which oddly enough I've never had either. I guess we're a little too inland over here. Haddock and fries, clam fritters, but not much else for seafood.
I may have been born in Manhattan, but the only true chowdah in my mind is the white stuff.
^^that question at the end is a clear no-brainer. Alhough to be honest, I've never actually tried the red stuff - but I'm open to new experiences.
Haha, I get the feeling that there will be enough food and booze at this shindig to feed (and inebriate) a small army. Even so, I may still need to make use of your kitchen Saturday afternoon to whip up something good, if that's alright with you two.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
It's too hick out here to be having sushi in prevalence out here. There might be a handful of people who like it and places which serve it - but it's not like its major compared to elsewhere.
I've described stuffies to the uninitiated as 'clam meatloaf, but delicious!'
Haha Miz Valentine. That's a great description. The celery percentage and seasonings are essential components. My lifelong pursuit is to be a stuffie judge.
Did the hawaii thing where its big.. not here, at least not for me. Raw seafood = BAD. Mike D gave me a pukey smiley but too tired to find and post.
Jack/All, kitchen is open. Above all else no stressing... Our home is yours for the weekend. Show up, dont let the cats that think they are dogs out (one will sneak out anyways), get comfy. After the first five minues - maybe three - you are family. Get your own damn drinks, make food, leave leftovers in the fridge .. food or drinks.
Truly no stressing. We affectionately call it the aisle of misfits. All with good hearts are welcome and we send the rest across the street to crank Tony.
We need to talk about music logistics soon. Appears the food, libations, and fresh corn are all covered.

That actually surprises me, since I'm probably only an hour away from your neck of the woods and we get some great sushi around here; but then again, I did have some sushi around New Haven last summer that tasted like it came out the back of a supermarket freezer.

There are a pretty decent number of sushi places around here (Hartford, West Hartford, ...)- I can actually walk to two places from my apartment. The Feng/Ginza restaurant group has really high quality sushi and a FABULOUS happy hour Speaking of which.. I think I know where I am going after work today!
I am proud to be a sick, deviant pervert! Cheers!
And oh yeah.. I vote for the Scrogfather name change too!

Key words being: only an hour away.
In nearby towns, it's not much. Maybe Worcester has something worthwhile. But within 20 miles - can't be much good.

I can't make this New England meetup but I hope that something similar occurs in the future. I love what I've seen of New England, and more importantly, I sure do like all of y'all that I've met from up there
I know where that is. Must be new, I don't recall ever seeing it up there before. (It's a big shopping plaza off Route 146.)
Only time I've ever had sushi before was in Toronto. Ended up getting sick a few hours later. Might have been due to allergies, the severe lack of sleep, the food, who knows. Just never tried it again after that.

Zen.. you have a home away from home here when you can make it.

I'm closer to Boston than New Haven.
Ha, fair enough. I just thought that being fairly close would mean you'd get similar quality stuff, but I guess there's just not the demand for it in smaller towns like there is in the bigger cities. If you ever find yourself up around this area, hit me up and I'll take you out for some of the good Leno.
Only a month to go! I'm actually really excited about this - I can't wait to spend some quality time with all you lovely Inforoosters.
