If you don't think Widespread Panic is psychedelic, you don't know jackshiit about psych music. If Jimmy Herring is playing guitar, a band is raging as well.

^^ Nice. I was wondering what the big "jam" show announcement The National had planned.

Things I learned from this post: - There is apparently a recording studio in Bridgeport, Connecticut which is world-class enough to attract Trey Anastasio, Interpol, the National and Jonsi. - I am smarter than Trey Anastasio, Jonsi, and the various members of Interpol and the National, because I know enough to never go to f*cking Bridgeport.

I saw a Smashing Pumpkins cover band called Siamese Dream recently and had more fun at that show than I can imagine having at this for 10x the price. That marked the second third time that I have deliberately paid to see a cover band, if you count Zappa Plays Zappa and Grandmothers of Invention.

Siamese Dream was awesome!! Asian Billy FTW
Tribute bands are the shiit if done right. ZPZ is awesome, The Grandmothers are awesome, Project Object is awesome. They're a little different because they all have allumni (Dweezil played with FZ on tour many times in the mid-late 80s)
Dark Star Orchestra is without a doubt the ultimate cover band. The sound exactly like the Grateful Dead, and play GD shows in their entirety, using era appropriate equipment and instruments depending on what show they are playing.
