May do this. My buddy is working in Raleigh until early-mid August, been telling me I need to come visit for a weekend. Depending on who else plays that day, I may make it that weekend.
Dude yeaaaaah!!! Sylvan Esso played the Town Commons in c-boro a couple months ago, and the space worked so well for it (I grew up in the area and have thought for years that the Carrboro Commons would be a fantastic music venue). It is a lovely little hippie town next to chapel hill, and wait...is this a weekend night? If so, I'm buying a ticket now. Definitely want to go back for this. Future Islands is fucking amazing live.
It's on a Sunday I believe. Really depends on who else plays that day...but I have been wanting to see Future Islands for awhile.

Just saw that there is first a lottery presale thing, then tickets go on sale later for a higher price, I think?
Future Islands is unreal live. Definitely definitely go if you haven't seen them before - I'm sure they'll pick some good acts to play alongside them too.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Saw Metallica for the 1st time.. Holy shib. Now that i've seen all 4 of the Big 4, for me it goes 1) Metallica 2) Slayer 3) Anthrax 4) Megadeth Metallica did not play 1 bad song tonight. Pretty much a perfect setlist from them without seeing them do one of their 1st 4 albums in their entireties. Fuel Bell Tolls Metal Militia Sad But True Sanitarium Cyanide One Master of Puppets Battery Fade to Black Sandman

(I didn't win - but they kindly gave me a link to buy presale before general public sale starts at noon, and tickets are only $20, so I feel like I pretty much won anyway Tix bought, I'll be there!)

Oh wow. I just assumed everyone won. My b, Rummy. Glad you're gonna make it down.
Haha nah, you're just lucky My dad entered to get some too, also was shut down. But we both bought a few with the presale link. My dad has some really fantastic wacky dance moves, that generally take up about a 10 foot radius, so you should keep your eyes peeled for that. Even join in maybe.

I'm going to try to get a day pass for Floydfest on 7/25 and catch Future Islands 100th show on 7/26. Didn't think I would have the budget for it, but I may be able to work a booth event at Floydfest in which I would make money and see the night shows. Plus getting a free pass to Firefly helped my budget.

OK, so you were at the 8 oclock, you got The Beautiful Ones, How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, Diamonds and Pearls, Sign O' the Times, and Play that Funky Music, which we didn't get at the 11 oclock.
But I take it you didn't have Stevie Wonder sitting on stage all night and joining for 4 songs?

Correct. Good on ya, but I'm still quite content.
No, I didn't mean it as bragging. I would have killed to get The Beautiful Ones and How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore.

This is going to be so awesome and hopefully very weird.
Phrases leads a dull existence. One morning while driving to work he hears an ad on the radio for the Psychedelic Swamp. Dreaming of a better life, Phrases drives his car into an oncoming train. He finds himself being transported into a land of wonder and mystery: The Swamp. Phrases records the sounds of the Swamp onto a cassette tape and sends the tape to Dr. Dog
THE STORY OF “SWAMP IS ON"
There are a handful of scientists who have searched for The Psychedelic Swamp for years, trying to interpret messages from The Swamp and from Phrases. These scientists, The Pig Iron Psychedelic Signals Auxilliary, join forces with the Dr. Dog Pop Detachment, to decode the tape and spread the message of Phrases. A government agency interferes with the scientists and tries to shut down their facilities, and this concert, in an effort to keep the truth about the Swamp from reaching humanity.

It was pretty fantastic. NotMitchelBade was there with me and he agreed. They apparently had a shitty show in Austin last night from their facebook post on it, so they may be looking to bring the heat.
