I'm in by the way. Ridincircles did a pretty in depth review from last year. It's definitely worth checking out. I'm pretty sure the trip can be done for around $3000.
Yes...they put your picture on your ticket so that you can't transfer it to anyone else. It's a major security issue there. I have been registered for Glastonbury since 2008 but never gone. Just re-newed my registration today for 2013. Soo Excited! If you are gonna go early or stay over look at flights into alternate airports....Ireland, Amsterdam, Brussels etc. Sometimes you can catch REALLY cheap flights on those. I know personnally I am doing the Belgium Beer tour while I am over there so if Brussels is cheaper to fly to than Heathrow or Gatwick I will do that! Just be flexible...that is the most important thing!

My best friend and I just decided this week that we are going. I just registered and she will registering tomorrow. I've always wanted to go but never thought I would actually do it. That tipi deal looks pretty sweet. I'll def have to check that out.
With the current exchange rate, a tipi is $800/person.
Think about it, no lugging a tent, sleeping bag, chairs, etc. And trying to fly them over or buy them there.
This festival was going on when I was over there many, many moons ago and I wanted to go then. The Tipi's look very nice and seem to be the way to go. I am thinking they are more like Roo's TA. Do not want to be that guy, if I am wrong please do not give me the banhammer , but I think your math is off. 8,000 sterling pounds = $12,940 US dollars or $6500/person, over 4 nights, it is about $1625/night per person
at $800 per head, 16 people will be needed to get that rate.
8,000 pounds is what those crazy posh tents I linked to go for.
The tipi cost is more reasonable
Well that makes more sense, when I clicked on the site, the tipi link does not work for me, I thought those were the Tipi tents. I guess that explains bad math and why those have 'tent' service. Either way, you will all have a blast! I am jealous. To much $$ and to far away for me, shiz I might have kids by then.
in theory i think i should really be excited about the prospect of going to glasto since it is two things i love: festivals and europe. but i think i am actually going to go over next summer to some countries i haven't been to yet (maybe italy and greece) and being boring and go to the beach, see beautiful art, eat some good food and drink great wine.
i think the tipis are pricey, but when you think about what you've said how you don't have to worry about tent etc. that's kind of a nice security when traveling far. especially if you plan on doing exploring before/after in other places over there.
plus it's a freaking tipi. who didn't dream of having one after you studied native americans in school??

I am planning on going again and can answer whatever questions are needed. I pretty well documented the trip last year in my photos if you want to check them out.
I ended up spending about $4000+ on my trip, but I also went to London, Paris, Barcelona, Nice and Cinque Terre. Airfare and ticket price will be around $1500+. We ended up staying near Heathrow and getting a bus to the festival which is probably the best option of getting there. $3000 would be easily doable. The exchange rate was around 1.4 dollars to the pound which was really good along with the Euro at the time.
Some other random info: You can buy all the camping gear you may need there and just about anything else other than alchohol in cans. I brought most everything needed, but did not realize some of the distances we would have to travel with it around the trip. Once inside Glastonbury we did not have to go far to set up camp though. The area by the buses was pretty open for camping while a large chunk of the rest of the festival was already filled up.
As far as the Glastonbury message board goes, efestivals is the main resource for most European festivals.
Over time Glastonbury has constantly improved the layout and organization, it's really mind boggling to wander around and see how much work goes into this place. It's massive and you need an open day just to orient yourself with the size of the festival.
The big difference being how camping is setup. There is no car camping, everyone brings their gear inside and drags it to where your camp will be. We lucked out and didn't have to go far and there was no mud last year. The camping is scattered around the entire festivals and you camp all around the stages. The environment is incredible.
based on the current pricing, its about $575 for your ticket and 1/6th of a tipi rental. add airfare, and you are talking about $2500 per couple. add another grand to that for expenses... easily.
druid, i hope you are planning for this - but not sure that the freeze-e-pops would make it

I really want to go to glastonbury aswell, though let me say this about the tipi situation:
The tipi's (based on the pictures on their website) appear to be approx 9 ft in diameter, which means a tipi would yeild approx 55 (USABLE) square feet of floor space, and divided among 6 adults, that could quickly become quite cramped. And keep in mind, that is based on an estimated size. They may only be 8ft tipis.
Also, I can't speak for the quality of Glastobury's tipis, but the one that I slept in leaked like sin.
I know that the main appeal of the tipi is not having to worry about getting a tent over there, or buy a tent once you have arrived, but at 300EUR / couple, its pretty steep too. You should have no problems finding a brand new, roomie 2+ person tent that will likely be more waterproof than a tipi for 200EUR, and if you don't want to bring it home, give it too a homeless person.
Anyways, i just wanted to warn everyone about the Tipi's potential problems.

Since this is glastonbury week, we will need to see if I we can find any live streams available and post them here. Right now I am not certain where to look, but I think other years were prevented due to proxy streaming issues. Not sure if it will be on BBC. Palladia will probably be playing previous years some, they were playing 2007 last night.
Also, for anyone interested in seeing what the schedule is like, clashfinder does a great job of putting it into a grid. They actually have the complete schedule, but it's not displayed since it's more than 60 stages. Most of those stages are venues/bars since glastonbury is all about drinking.
I don't have any more info on teepees. Yall guys are on your own there. they did have little waterproof pods also that Zoie was interested in. We just ended up bringing our tent, then checked it in at the train station while travelling around Europe.
And the number of suitable applications you recieve from your Facebook ad?
There's no guarantee that if a fella is accepted as my Sugar Daddy that he will get to sleep in the tipi with me. (Maybe I should add that as a disclaimer??)
But seriously, I know the tipi isn't the most budget-friendly option, but considering the amount of other stuff we will have to lug to the fest, it makes sense. Plus, it's apparently in a very good spot for viewing. If I'm going to Glastonbury, I'm going all out.
EDIT: I am completely embarrassed about my grammatical error... it has thus been corrected, but geez! I really need to focus.

Werd!
God I hope I win the lottery soon, it would make it sooo much easier to do all the shiz I want to do between now and october.
i agree that if you do glastonbury you cant skimp on sleep and then regret it. youre going overseas for this so spending a little extra to make sure youre not killing yourself lugging tents is worth it. but i would look into the leaking situation
and... i would require a bedmate. cute boys please line up to the right. we can hold auditions at future american shows/festivals to see how compatible our big/little spoon situation is
