Farm Aid is a considerably different animal than an full Neil Young show. Whether he's with the Horse, family/friends, Nashville buddies, or CSN, it would be considerably different than the handful of songs he does amongst the Farm Aid lineup.
I saw him with the Chrome Dreams band in 2007 and it remains one of the best shows I have ever seen. The best part of that lineup was the flexibility between long Crazy Horse style jams and the country and other softer stuff. Unfortunately with Ben Keith gone I don't know if we will see a lot of the country stuff again.
Unfortunately with Ben Keith gone I don't know if we will see a lot of the country stuff again.
I just saw an interview with him where he mentioned that with Ben's passing, he wouldn't be playing 75% of his stuff, but then he said "with anyone else" so I think he'll still play the songs, but solo acoustic etc.
Neil is Neil... I think NY and Crazy Horse would be amazing for a Sunday night headliner, but we all know that Neil will not cater to the masses.
The only other thing I can think of is maybe CSNY??? I bet if 'roo put up some good cash they could get them to play next year.
but going back to baconus' post, with Long Grain Ben Keith no longer with us, we won't get that dynamic flexibility. Neil always changes what he's doing.. So, maybe Neil on Which stage next year with a harmonica, a tuba a bass drum and loop station?? ;D
Now that i'm thinking about it.. how about Stephen Stills puts together a Manassas reunion tour!
Meh. I've seen Neil at Farm Aid. I'll just say that Buffalo Springfield was much better.
I've seen Neil at MSG and with CSNY in the past few years and he tore it up.....just as much, if not more then the BS show.
I'd love me some solo Neil.
I should clarify that I would love to see Neil solo at Bonnaroo. But as a top headliner...he would have to prove that he's still got it. At least for me. Maybe I just caught him on a slow night.
Put me down for a big yes on Neil being there in any way, shape, or form. I've seen CSN but not CSNY and now BS. It would be sweet if he did Neil Young and Friends kind of show, just a parade of musicians playing classics with Neil.

If I had my druthers, I'd like a solo show or family/friends. I've seen Crazy Horse, CSNY, and the Buffalo and it would be nice to collect the whole set.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
I'm pretty sure Neil could perform every year and make it seem fresh and new each time. Hell, I'd be down for a late night Electronica set from Neil. I'd actually like that a lot.
