I've a good ways into Feast for Crows at the moment.
If I wanted to troll this thread I could quite badly. Remember the first two thirds of DWD are just the other half of FFC. Basically Jon/Tyrion/Dany stuff then it syncs up and the last third is stuff after FFC.
Well are any of you guys caught up on the series yet? I just finished DWD, and it was really good now just seven more years until the next one.
100 Pages into DWD. I am just hoping there are some Cat of the Canals chapters after it syncs up.
Edit: For the TV series I will say I can't wait for when they do the third book, which I hear they may split into two seasons. That will be the most epic and gruesome show ever. That book went full frittat, easily my favorite of the series.

Can you imagine if they ended a season with the Red Wedding?
I hope they don't split the third book into two seasons, despite the temptation to do what Jess just mentioned. I was wondering how they'd handle that, with probably the biggest and most emotional event of the book (maybe the series*) coming smack dab in the middle of the book. That'd be a huge thing to just have in the middle of the season.
Still, though, I'm hoping they stick to the one season per book format. Seven kingdoms, seven books, seven seasons *fingers crossed*.
*DANCE WITH DRAGONS SEMI-SPOILER:
Although, that's pretty debatable if you've gotten to the end of A Dance with Dragons yet Oh, well...I think you-know-who will come back as Azor Ahai.
I don't know, splitting it would allow them to include more, and do more details, which would be great for Book 3.
I think ten hours is long enough to tell the story, though if people freaked when Ned died I can not imagine what will happen when the Red Wedding is televised.

To be honest, the Red Wedding was terrible, but the single most horrific thing I've read thus far would probably be Prince Oberyn's duel with The Mountain.

Wait until the next book, there is some serious crazy shiz going down especially with Ramsay Bolton. It makes the earlier stuff look like a Bearenstein Bears book.

Yeah, but I mean speculation on more...speculative topics. The Boltons doing some flaying isn't a very far-fetched claim. But Jon's mother, Melisandre's motives, the outcome of the game of thrones, etc. That's the stuff I really want to speculate on haha

Me too that is why I want all you guys to catch up, once we get 4 or 5 people we can do a spoilers thread.

Oh snap, Young Griff! What does everyone think of the new castings? I can get into Davos and Melisandre, Brienne I could see working also. Jagen H'Ghar looks spot on to me. The rest I'm not really feeling on first impression. Also, I am pretty sure Xaro Xhoan Daxos is white.
Finished with A Feast For Crows, just waiting on a chance to go buy DwD. But I think there's plenty of things that I have enough information to contemplate over some of the big issues: Jon's parents Azor Ahai/The Prophecy Character motives/etc. The eventualy winners of the game of thrones.

I am a quarter through DwD and Azor Ahai is one of the surprises I'm really looking forward to. A lot of twists come out of no where in these books, but that one has been built up really well without giving it away through all the books, I think.

Is the first person JK Rowling? Pretty good. Finished DWD last week. Page 913 (didn't even have to look it up, that number will not be forgotten for a while). Damn you page 913.

The first book and a half are pretty slow as its setting up a giant story(s), but stick it out because it is totally worth it. Also, A Feast For Crows is a necessary evil, Dance With Dragons totally makes up for it.
Just finished GoT. Great book and filled in alot of things I didn't grasp watching the series. Will start on CoK soon. Are the Tales of Dunk and Egg a good read?
I'm completely in love with this series. In between my BSN coursework, I'm reading the books. I'm about halfway through Storm of Swords. The next opportunity I have to cosplay will be either Dany or Ayra Stark. And I totally plan on crafting up some GoT goodies... first thing I want to make is a t-shirt with the Stark direwolf and "Winter is Coming"
A good friend of mine is ahead of me in the books and a lady I work with is going to start reading them after I got her hooked on the show. Not sure how I'll wait until next spring, let alone until he finishes the series.

I am board reading this after watching the series. I'm 3/4 of the way through GoT and, like rdk, have seen several things in the book that either I didn't pick up on or weren't in the series.
