The dust was MUCH worse than '07 in my opinion. Considering that the only grass to be seen was at what stage and they've added so much sand, I've never ever seen dust like that in centeroo. It didnt bother me until sunday when i could barely open my eyes, but one of the guys with us was hacking it up all weekend. Our campiste was completely grass though so we were free from it there. At least one benefit from being as far away as we could possibly be haha.
Same, but that's all that's going on with me. My boyfriend just woke up from a nap gasping for air and he's been hacking for an hour now. I think the dust is settling or something it's a little disturbing.
I've brought them every year since 07 and never needed them. I didn't go this year, but I'll have them when I hit the farm next year. Hopefully I won't need them.
I was not expecting that much dust nor did I expect to have allergy type symptoms. I'm definitely still trying to stay hydrated and get over this mucus/cough and whatnot. That was so annoying to deal with. Hopefully it'll go away super fast now that I'm back home.
I don't know - I have to say this year was worse than 2007 but that could be because we were camped right on the main road. On Friday afternoon I started tweeting Ashley Capps, Bonnaroo and Bonnaroo News that they needed to get water trucks out and Friday evening we saw one water truck come down the road but that was the only one we saw all weekend.
We ended up leaving Sunday night 1/2 way through WSP because our entire camp was hacking and coughing. I lost my voice Sunday and still don't sound right. Boz now has Bonnaflu for the first time in 5 Bonnaroo's
Felt like everything we had to eat or drink from Saturday afternoon on was caked in dirt and grit - not pleasant at all.
I saw 2 water trucks while there on the campground roads. each on a different day. Still not often enough though, apparently, and they needed it in Centeroo too.
If you come with stuff to cover your face, dustaroos can be sort of fun. Dust devils flying around everywhere and because of the dust people will write interesting things on your car. My buddy's car had roughly 12 penises drawn on his car by the end of the weekend.

I'm not sure if my friend was just deliriously tired or what but I coughed a few times in the car and she told me it smelled like rocks/dust. I don't think I laughed so hard in my entire life.
Ah, well, next time I know to bring more bandannas to cover my face with.

I was out in BFE so the dust wasn't bad out at the campsite. But it was bad in Centeroo, especially on Sunday when the breeze started blowing and the dust got kicked up by the foot traffic.
I hacked up the mother of all loogies on Monday driving home.
Its been over a month now and I still can't shake this cough. It's less frequent now but still there. I'm not a smoker or anything. I did Waka>Roo this year and inhaled my fair share of dust at both. Totally worth it though but it's still kinda annoying. Anyone else still hacking?

Yikes! Hope your cough ends soon....have you seen a doctor yet? I did Roo, and I am a smoker, and it took me around 2 weeks to really shake it. I will definitely be wrapping my bandana around my face next year- lesson learned.
I kicked my cough about two weeks ago and was a smoker at 'Roo but now almost 3 weeks without one!
As far as the dust, in my opinion it was nowhere near as bad as 2007. I think the downfall this year was that there was so much dust inside Centeroo. I was camped out in Cleveland Brown in POD 11 and we had no issues with dust on the walk to and from camp. At least until we got much closer to Centeroo.
Might go see a doc if it keeps up. Yeah I will agree 07 was waaaaaay worse though! It had been dry for so long by the time Roo rolled around. I remember tasting that crap for weeks.
I somehow managed to kick the cough after a day or two and not get the Bonnaflu despite not having anything to block the dust, I guess its an advantage of living in the desert
I went from four days of the dry dusty heat of Bonnaroo to one afternoon of kayaking in the waterfall mist at Rock Island, and I coughed for a month afterwards. Not fun.
This year was bad, but no comparison to 2007 when I got really, really sick and missed 3 weeks of work afterwards. I kept my face covered this year and gratefully didn't feel any ill effects.
There is some funk in that dust that will take you down.
Bonnaroo simply needs more grass. This is not a hard fix at all either.
I have been multiple times to the site not during Bonnaroo, there is TON of grass out there, and actually there is a lot on Thursday going in as well. It is hard for it to stay around very long under 80k feet though.

Actually it is rather difficult. I have a yard, and it's a bitch to keep it green and alive.
They need a strain of grass that won't die when 80,000 people stomp all over it. And one that will make it through the winter. They need a watering system to keep it alive. And lots of money to pay the huge water bill. Because if you don't water it, it dies.
And let's not even get into the environmental debate about wasting all that water.
