It was a superlative but it was super weird. I started going in '08 and I wasn't ready to sweat it out with of Montreal in '09; I think I opted for Mule or something.
I was there. The only thing I felt was the exodus of 50% of the crowd leaving by the 5th song.
You didn't get it.
Re-read my post. I didn't say I left. Where in my post does it say that? I did, however, watch at least half of the crowd bolt. I love all three of their records, so don't tell me that I "didn't get it."

Why the hell would you post that then if you're a fan of the band? It's a negative comment, "the only thing about that show I remember is that everyone left haha."
Everyone who stayed had a great time. Except for you I guess.
I think it makes sets better when people leave. Everyone left after John Prine and then Kris Kristofferson, Old Crow Medicine show, and Dave Rawlings came on to do Paradise with him as a encore and I was 30 feet back.
Radiohead - Madonna - Paul Simon - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Deadmau5 - the Raconteurs - Fleet Foxes - Neil Diamond - N.E.R.D. - Florence + the Machine
Rammstein - Skrilllex - Bon Iver - Justice - Adele - Kid Cudi - Ryan Adams - Matt and Kim - the Disco Biscuits - Umphreys McGee
Have you seen Rammstein's stage set up on this last tour? They would have to be billed ALOT higher then that and would need The What stage if they were to play Roo.
Deerhunter was probably my favorite set last year. it was my first deerhunter show so i have nothing to compare it to, but the guy camped next to me who had seen them a few times before said it was the "weirdest" deerhunter show he had ever seen. "very different than the other times".
^I think a lot of the negativity comes from John Frusciante's departure from the band. That's my reservation with them performing...
Yup.
If that's the case then you probably don't have anything to worry about. I saw them twice with Frusciante, once was mediocre, the other time was spectacular. I doubt you will notice much, if any, falloff in their live performance, Klinghoffer has played with Frusciante for years and is a solid guitarist himself.
I was under the impression most of the hate on these boards stemmed from the perceived quality of their last two releases, which while they were less exciting than previous material, the negativity is harshly overstated, for a reason I do not know.
!!! was not weird. !!! was fucking amazing! I loved the fact that pretty much EVERYONE was over at Which for Mumford and Sons cause there was PLENTY of room to dance and sweat under the tent.

I agree that the negativity from the last two albums is a little over the top. IMO you can't base the potential of a band's live performance on your opinion of recent albums. Personally, I liked Stadium Arcadium.
I still think they make sense for Bonnaroo and would put on a great show. AC might tell them to stay away from Hendrix covers, though (see Woodstock '99).
