If you guys are throwing this big of a bitch fit at the very idea of RHCP being there, you should really brace yourselves for the fact that if they are there, they're going to play Saturday night, not Friday.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Am I wrong, or did the insider say that Bonnaroo will never book Kanye again? If that's true, then a Kanye/Jay Z headliner is out of the question. Just curious as to why it keeps coming up.
I don't remember her saying that. I think she just said that Kanye was not going to play this year. I could be wrong but I don't think she said he will never play Roo again.
She basically said we were silly to even think that he would be on the lineup
As for RHCP, I'd be underwhelmed yet content. They could do alot worse

Why does it matter what night they play? Everyone here knows bigger doesn't mean better (if your insinuating the Saturday headliner must be a bigger draw than Friday's)

I think RHCP fits the bill of what Bonnaroo claims a headliner is nowadays...play 1.5-2 hours and call it quits. That way they can play 17-19 songs which includes Throw Away Your Television.
Chili peppers are def a better fit for bonnaroo than Em. His set made me uncomfortable, then bored. Chili Peppers would probably just make me leave to get a good spot for a LN set. Hopefully the Sat. LN sets are better than '11.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Chili Peppers, however, looking on setlist.fm, I'm seeing a lot of half assed concerts with lame setlists. If they actually brought it and played the majority of their hits and went 2 plus hours with 25 songs or so, it would be a decent to great show. However, if they play random songs nobody really cares about (Throw Away Your Television), then it's best to leave them home.

^ True say. I think RHCP will be festival whores next year and definitely will be grabbed by Superfly for Roo. I think they will be second behind Clapton or some other Classic Rock biggie who will headline Saturday night but again I agree that most headline worthy acts would be billed below them.
Prediction, they will blow! I have seen them many times over the years and RHCP have always failed to be as good as their tour openers and only impressed me slightly on the One Hot Minute tour (which I know sounds like a shocker given they were Friusciante-less).

This is exctly why I hope they aren't playing next year. If they focused on the first six albums with a sprinkle from the latest 4 it would be a way better show IMO. I try to not listen to the radio as much as possible but sometimes it can't be avoided. The RHCP are played on the hits stations, light rock stations, rock stations, alt rock stations and even the classic rock station has been playing them for a couple years, it's to much for me.
Either James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel or Van Morrison as a classic Rock influence next year would make me happy.....
....and Naugty by Nature as a LN hip hop act (Big Boi's slot from 11'!)
James Taylor and Van Morrison would not headline IMO. Billy Joel would be a very weak headliner. Elton would headline but wouldnt be a good get for Roo cause he plays so much that the wow factor of him playing wouldn't exist. Naughty By Nature would be a waste of a LN spot for sure, but at least they wouldn't create a conflict.

Youre right, James Taylor wouldnt be a HL act but he would still be great to see. Im not sure how you think Van and Billy would be though? Buffalo Springfield was this years classic headliner and they are merely a Neil Young super group with only a few hits...still a great band. Van is a legend!!! As for the Elton "Wow" factor...I couldnt dis agree with you more! He is one of the best performers on the planet with a huge catalogue........Your comment is a bit of a head scrathcher....
As for the Naughty By Nature comment...youre totally right and I was only half kidding....How about Colour me bad instead?

I would slowly post the lineup throughout various threads. Go to the electronic thread and be like, "It'd be so awesome if X Y and Z played!" and so on and so forth over a period of several months, posting every single band that confirmed. And nobody would ever be the wiser.

I think he'd get annoyed and frustrated when after posting his confirmed bands, people would start calling him a noob and that those bands would never play bonnaroo
I've only seen RHCP once live and I enjoyed it. I know othe people have said this, but without Fruscantie it wouldnt be worth booking them or they wouldnt be as good without him if Roo did book them. Watch the Slane Castle DVD, I thought the was a great show. Fruscantie stole that show. I would not skip the show but I would be in the back resting while casually listening if they headline next year.
