Widespread Panic weren't on the original lineup. The original plans called for Metallica, Pearl Jam, and Jack Johnson to headline. Kanye West was scheduled to pre-headline the Which stage but that got changed to a late night set to accomodate his Glow in the Dark tour that he was on at the time. Now I agree that one could argue that Kanye West was headliner worthy (as many did that year and continue to still do) but that doesn't mean Bonnaroo considered him a headliner (as can be explained by his original time slot).
Makes sense, and agreed. So does that mean that one of the 3 we have will be in a slot like this? I mean - there has to be some reason why she didn't just come with it and not qualify. "two headliners with r_d" no 'relatively loosely'. IDK.
Radiohead - Phish (1 or 2 doesnt matter) - RHCP is kickass.
I wouldn't be bothering to think about anything else if it wasn't for those 2 pesky friggin words.
don't over think it. 2 Phish sets= 2 of the 3 headliner spots. RHCP=relatively loose headliner.

I tried messaging Questlove on twitter but he hasn't responded. That kind of makes me think they might be there because he almost always answers me. Maybe that's just my wishful thinking.
I am an idiot, ?uestlove spins at clubs and stuff in the city all the time. I went on a booze cruise last year that he was spinning at and actually hung out and spoke to him for a bit.
Adele doesn't like doing fests anymore I don't think. Plus she is a huge act at this point. Will probably book Florence again instead.
I don't know about her feelings about festivals, but she did take time off this year due to those medical issues. Hitting the festival circuit may lower the strain on her voice compared to a full touring schedule.
To me 2009 was by far the most top heavy lineup. Phishx2, Bruce, NIN, Beasties, and Jimmy Buffett were all headliner caliber acts even if they did not all play in headliner slots.
I agree that it was really top heavy. And you didn't even include David Byrne.
For me personally it'd have last year (but that's mostly because of musical tastes). Arcade Fire, MMJ, Black Keys, Buffalo Springfield, Primus.....all favorites of mine.

I kind of think Friday will be Radiohead>Phish both partially unopposed Saturday will be RHCP unopposed, and Sunday will be Beach Boys into Phish. I mean it is possible to shoehorn another big act in there, but I do not think it is likely. Maybe the end of Paul Simon going through the Start of RHCP.
My dream though would be a Friday Leonard Cohen 7:00-9:00 Radiohead 9:30-12:00, and Phish 1:30-4:30. With Thom coming out for Karma Police, and Cohen coming out to sing Hallelujah in the middle of a Harpua.

You think singing outside for 30,000 is less stressful? Only takes one time to screw it up again. It would be a great fit I just don't see it with all things considered.

Why would Radiohead be partially opposed while RHCP goes unopposed? Even taking away this board's bias, Radiohead would be the bigger band for Bonnaroo.

..and Wilco who was a Lolla headliner the year before.

My thinking goes that RHCP will be the Saturday act, and Radiohead will be Friday. How long are the Radiohead sets these days?

This.
Really think Radiohead will play Friday, without phish, and they will #1 on the lineup. RHCP and Phish on Saturday, with RHCP more or less completely unopposed.
Keep in mind that I am only referring to 'headliners' here, which I'll define as the 2 'prime time' spots each on Fri, Sat and Sun (6 acts) - so, just because I may say no to someone who guesses a particular act doesn't mena they may not end up on a late-night or daytime stage.....
Let's finish off Friday's lineup - I think I will make a lot of people happy when I reveal......
My Morning Jacket (can't recall which act is first - but there are your 2 for Friday)
Funny that of the 4 remaining prime-time acts (I'm gonna start using that term now instead of 'headliner') I haven't seen one person even speculate as to the earlier Sat night act.....
Keep in mind that not all of the 'headliners' (i.e. - early and late slots on Fri & Sat and Sun slot) have been signed, sealed and delivered yet and I only know when its done, not whats in negotiation/being finished up.
OK, so there are 2 bands "headlining" (I use that term relatively loosely) both of who's names begin with an 'R', followed by a vowel, followed by a D - as some of you have correctly speculated after my last post.
I don't think she was implying that either Radiohead or RHCP wouldn't be an unopposed headliner. I think she was saying that she is calling those two "headliners" even though she tends to shy away from using the term "headliner" at all.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
He was a guest for a noon set (Ilo & and the Coral Reefer Allstars).
Actually he played the whole set because Ilo was having immigration issues. Also, yes if Buffett was booked with the Coral Reefers he would be a headliner. As it stands that was still the biggest crowd I have ever seen at the Which.
Guys there's really no need to carry on this dissection. We know who the top 3 billed acts are at this point. Insider has once again delivered good news and that's that.
So whose the 4th?

Singing for a few festivals over the summer would less stressful than a string of 20 or 30 tour dates. Like you, I would be surprised to see her there, but I don't think it's outlandish.

so now we have 2008, 2009 and 2011 all top heavy.
and honestly if you throw out Kings of Garbage in 2010, its still a heavy top 5 to the Flaming Lips (they do draw...)
and this year people are arguing that we are only getting 3 because "its RADIOHEAD, brah. have some respect and don't get greedy"
with 90,000 tickets at 250 each thats 22.5M...before VIP money, corporate sponsorships, before vendor buy ins, before all those TA busses, before a single beer, shirt or poster is bought. Before they collect a single dollar from their website advertising, or the money they make from selling our email addresses to research companies.

So happy!! RHCP is on my bucket list, so I'd love to see them, even without Frusciante (obviously I'd rather he were there). But I wouldn't want them there are the expense of Radiohead. But now I get to see both!!!
