Favorite seasons:
2 - because it opens things up and shows how drugs get in, etc 3 - closes out Barksdale people, introduces Marlo, most action packed (Omar & Brother) 4 - shows how the younguns grow up to be what they be (our friends had a predictions contest: ie, Michael becomes Omar, Randy's Stringer, etc 1 - introduces the show, shows how a street gang runs 5 - it just works on closing the show out, hbo didn't really want to renew for 12 episodes
Season 4 is the greatest accomplishment in the history of TV, in my books. It is beyond a masterpiece. Nothing has ever come even a little bit close to portraying youth like Season 4 of The Wire. It's just unbelievable.

The only negative thing about watching The Wire--and I mean the ONLY negative thing--is that every other TV show you watch afterwards is just in the shadows of The Wire. No show can ever be as good and it makes every other show seem half-assed by comparison.
Hah, if you find the thread you'll see there is much back and forth debating Season 3 vs Season 4. I'm obviously a fan of Season 3, I just can't believe it's fourth on your list.
Honestly it's hard to rank because I loved every season. Most folks didn't care much for the 2nd but for some reason I really enjoyed the whole corrupt polish stevadores thing as well as the greeks. Plus, those are the only characters that don't ever return. I definitely liked 4th most though, but after that It's hard for me to rank.

I don't think you'll be able to fully compare Breaking Bad to The Wire until Breaking Bad ends. That said, it would take the best season or two of TV history for Breaking Bad to catch up IMO.

So we have Phish and RHCP. They'll go after another demographic for #3 I'd guess it was hip hop if we hadn't used up all the biggest names in the genre already. I just don't see anyone else working in the top 3.
I'd say electronic but there's really only one act I can think of big enough, and I'm not holding my breath for that.
I think there's a good chance we could get a pop headliner. Lady gaga? Or maybe Madonna?
If not pop, we'll most likely get some classic rock.
could never get into breaking bad... watched season 1 and it didn't do much for me and i love bryan cranston. I'm helplessly addicted to dexter, season 6 was so amazing
Guys, I know I'm a newbie, but there has got to be a better spot to discuss your favorite shows.
1) Welcome to the board. This is what it is like in the weeks leading up to the line-up. 2) The Wire is a much better topic than arguing about how many sets Phish is going to play or how RHCP suck now live or how Roger Waters can/cannot play there. That stuff gets old. 3) It's "skye".
Yeah the pace and scope of the Wire are probably what sets it apart, along with the writing I guess. However I would side with BB as far as acting talent, direction and ability to create suspense.
