Needs and wants are different. And diversity is nice... to an extent. I'm sick of these Hip-Hop Headliners, it brings such dbags to the farm. Give me bands with followers who have positive vibes to give thank you.

This is the first hip/hop headliner and the fest hasn't happened yet, so how do you know he brought dbag fans? I mean, I guess you could count Kanye and Jay, but did they really cause a terrible influx of douches?
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

yup all hip hop fans are d'bags. you nailed that one.
what happen to bonnaroo being about freedom in music? just because you dont like hip hop doesnt mean the fans are d'bags, and it doesnt mean bonnaroo wont book it.
I'm positive Dave Matthews brought more dbags last year than Jay-Z.
Right, so the incredibly friendly people I stood with all day at the what stage to see dmb as opposed to the people who rushed past me after stevie wonder (someone even said "get the quack out of the way") and who left the most incredible amount of trash behind that I have ever seen at a festival was just a fluke.....
Just compare Jay-Z and Dave Matthews Lyrics man, one speaks of love and peace in a truly poetic way, the other talks about pimps, bitchez, the love of money and other immoral nonsense. You do the math.

Not all hip hope fans are Dbags obviously. But your a fool if you'd say that Eminem won't attract more Dbags then say Pearl Jam, or Simon & Garfunkel, etc.

Lyrics have nothing to do with it. Maybe a lot of Jay-Z's lyrics are about "immoral nonsense", but that doesn't mean the crowd he attracts actually used to move snowflakes by the OZ. His songs are fun, plain and simple. So are DMB's songs, of course, but I'd hang out with a group of Jay-Z fans any day before I would a bunch of DMB-loving, Natty-shotgunning frat-bro douchebags.
And I'm sure if you stood in line all day with the immoral heathens waiting to see Jay-Z you would have met some great people. And I'm sure if you had been in the middle of the crowd when DMB came on you would have been bum-rushed by some DMB fans wanting to see the band up close.

To the underlined. I've heard this quite a bit, but I don't get it. I've never met a DMB fan anywhere remotely like that. I've never met a DMB fan that I've had a conversation with that's even been in a frat, and for the record Natty and shotgunning (of any beer) is gross.
Outkast is the rap headliner that should be sought after now. Bonnaroo also needs to go after McCartney and The Stones before it is too late. I know both of these for the same year is impossible but I think next year we could realistically see Paul. Outkast is a long shot though. I would like to see RHCP but also unlikely. I hope they dont go for GaGa or someone like that. Next year could be Daft Punk's year if they decide to tour. I think Foo Fighters is a possible for next year as well. As of now and I know it is wishful:
Friday: Foo Fighters Saturday: Daft Punk Sunday: Paul McCartney

For as mythological as their live show is, can Daft Punk really hold down an unopposed headlining slot? I'd have the same question for Outkast.

^^ I think both of them could. Daft Punk is probably the most popular electronic act out and has been for a while. Outkast is a top ten rap act all time IMO.

Yes for both.
Also, jambands67's formula is pretty simple:
1)Create new account, sound like a reasonable person for your first 40-50 posts. 2)Slowly start to show love, almost irrational fandom, for DMB and hate on rap/electronic music. 3)Start being a dick. 4)Done.
