Sorry for all the posting in a row, but I'm just excited! I can't believe I actually speculated right based on insider's comment (not that I was the only one by any means). Boosts my self-esteem. Also, this means I'm seeing Radiohead 3 times in the next few months! ATL, Coachella, Bonnaroooooo!!
Adele doesn't like doing fests anymore I don't think. Plus she is a huge act at this point. Will probably book Florence again instead.
I don't know about her feelings about festivals, but she did take time off this year due to those medical issues. Hitting the festival circuit may lower the strain on her voice compared to a full touring schedule.
Knowing she has played Roo before and playing this year would be a great way to return to the USA. I just have this feeling (hope) she is there. She is huge so that could be one of the 4-6 slots.
My thinking goes that RHCP will be the Saturday act, and Radiohead will be Friday. How long are the Radiohead sets these days?
The two sets at the Roseland were 20 and 21 songs. I don't know what that works out to in minutes. We'll know more about that when their spring tour starts up.
As it stands that was still the biggest crowd I have ever seen at the Which.
Mumford?
It was bigger than Mumford, and also Buffalo Springfield. Literally the crowd was overflowing past the sides of the Brooers tent.
As to whether or not he would be booked that is debatable, if he was however it would certainly be as a headliner. Not liking an act, does not mean it is not a huge act. Buffett shows sell out fast and are ridiculously large party's. So I don't see him playing one year again as being too far fetched.

Do we know for sure Radiohead is the topped billed act? I completely agree they should be, but it seems possibile another name could top theirs. Macca and Prince are two that come to mind.
Possibilites for #4 if it is billed as Radiohead * Phish * RHCP: Beach Boys, Paul Simon, Foo Fighters

We don't know for sure, but it's where most people are putting their bets. Like previously stated, I don't see FF being there if RHCP is.

I agree that it was really top heavy. And you didn't even include David Byrne.
For me personally it'd have last year (but that's mostly because of musical tastes). Arcade Fire, MMJ, Black Keys, Buffalo Springfield, Primus.....all favorites of mine.
so now we have 2008, 2009 and 2011 all top heavy.
and honestly if you throw out Kings of Garbage in 2010, its still a heavy top 5 to the Flaming Lips (they do draw...)
and this year people are arguing that we are only getting 3 because "its RADIOHEAD, brah. have some respect and don't get greedy"
with 90,000 tickets at 250 each thats 22.5M...before VIP money, corporate sponsorships, before vendor buy ins, before all those TA busses, before a single beer, shirt or poster is bought. Before they collect a single dollar from their website advertising, or the money they make from selling our email addresses to research companies.
None of us are saying there won't be big 4th or 5th billed acts. We're saying stop expecting anyone on the scale of radiohead/rhcp to still be added. We have our top 3.
Yes, there will be acts of MMJ, Primus, Springfield size, but we most likely will not be receiving a 4th 20,000 person arena act.

I seem to remember them as 90 minutes or so, which leaves more time for a LN act on the What. Like you said though we will know more once they start playing some dates.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Actually he played the whole set because Ilo was having immigration issues. Also, yes if Buffett was booked with the Coral Reefers he would be a headliner. As it stands that was still the biggest crowd I have ever seen at the Which.
Well, I only woke up about 1/2way through the set (since I was sleeping in handicap parking and could hear the show), so I wasn't sure if he was there the entire time.
I tried messaging Questlove on twitter but he hasn't responded. That kind of makes me think they might be there because he almost always answers me. Maybe that's just my wishful thinking.
I am an idiot, ?uestlove spins at clubs and stuff in the city all the time. I went on a booze cruise last year that he was spinning at and actually hung out and spoke to him for a bit.
I should track him down and just ask him.
If he pops into Brooklyn Bowl on Friday I'll ask him.

And no, he wouldn't.
Dude, he sells out Stadiums all over the US with 70-125$ tickets.
The first Roseland show was an hour and fifty minutes, but I also believe that 'roo 2006 was their longest show ever up until that point, so I could see them playing a longer set than usual this year as well.

For anyone still hung up on the "somewhat loosely" thing:
I don't think she was implying that either Radiohead or RHCP wouldn't be an unopposed headliner. I think she was saying that she is calling those two "headliners" even though she tends to shy away from using the term "headliner" at all.

The 06 show was huge, and certainly as far as I know the only 28 song set they did that year. I would love for another huge Bonnaroo show, maybe the will pull out the stops again who knows.

According to setlist.fm, in 2008, when the In Rainbows tour was in full swing, the average set-list was 24 songs long. The Bonnaroo 2006 set was 28 songs long. So I would expect something at least in the mid 20's again this time around.

All the money Bonnaroo gets doesn't just go to artists. There is a lot of upkeep and improvements that are constantly happening to the land that Bonnaroo takes place on. There are tons of staff members and employees for Bonnaroo that need to get paid. There are of course, exorbinant artist fees but there are also fees for the comedians, filmmakers, and artists (not music but phsyical art like painting and sculpture) that need to be taken care of.
We said those other years were top heavy but a lot of the acts listed weren't headliners (and some of the reasons were for personal taste preference not size/popularity of the band). This year it could still be top heavy if we got some other big name acts (Beach Boys) but I really don't think that we should expect another HUGE name that is definitely headliner status.
