I'm perfectly happy with this years "headliners" .. honestly a very big improvement over last year.
All of my attention is now focused on trying to get Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cage The Elephant, and Flying Lotus on the undercard... We should all start spamming Gary's twitter with comments like "CMMOOOON, PLEEEAAASEEE! ILL BE YOUR FRIEND!"
It looks like one of the clues points to Flying Lotus
The more and the more I think about it, McCartney could be on the bill.
Would insider REALLY give us the whole top line, so there was nothing to be excited about on lineup day?
has she done that in the past?
She just gives us info as she gets it, dude. There is no rhyme or reason. I SERIOUSLY doubt that she's holding back bigger names so that we still have something to be excited about when it gets closer to lineup time.
There's no way in hell that there is gonna be an even bigger name like Prince or Macca on top of Radiohead, RHCP, and Phish. Why would AC/SF do that when Radiohead*RHCP*Phish will already sell out in all likelihood? BEST case scenario (and even this is highly unlikely) is Neil Young & Crazy Horse also being on the lineup. Me personally, I'm just hoping Beach Boys are 4th or 5th on it. If we get those three headliners, Beach Boys, The Shins, and Bon Iver in the top three lines, I'll be ecstatic. Hell, I'll already be ecstatic even without Beach Boys, Bon Iver, and The Shins.

it looks like all of the clues point to way too many things... i feel like we've gotten nowhere with it this year. the last couple of years wasn't gary constantly telling us that our guesses were at least wrong?

When you put it that way...
I am totally psyched about these 3, and will buy my ticket. Im sure many others will too. I agree, it will sell out with these 3 on top. No need to add more. You're right.

QFT
And seriously, if we get the Beach Boys, I'm going to turn into a silly happy puddle of Dani. My face still hurts from all the smiling I did yesterday after we got Thom; I can't imagine what I'll do if we get BB, too.

Its not that she would purposefully be withholding info from us, its that maybe the deal hasn't been finalized with another artist. She has stated that she really only knows after its all said and done. Not that I am expecting another big headliner. But I have to admit that her term "loosely" does add fuel to the speculative fire and everyone should at least be open to the (remote) possibility of another HL.
1-1-12 Bassnectar NYE SHOW! 1-21-12 G. Love and Special Sauce 3-1-12 Radiohead 3-9-12 Experience Hendrix 5-15-12 Jack White @ The Ryman 6-7-12 Bonnaroo 6-19-12 Roger Waters presents "THE WALL" 7-7-12 Ringo Starr's 72nd Birthday Party Extravaganza at the Ryman
It took spreading it out over two days to catch up, but Radiohead at Roo is getting me excited again. I will be fine with these headliners and no other big surprise as long as the undercard is as amazing as always.
My Radiohead list:
1. In Rainbows (because i WAS at the 06 show and it was the greatest show of my life. I/we got to hear Arpeggi, Videotape, House of Cards, 15 Step, Nude, and Bodysnatchers for the first time. It rejuvenated my love of Radiohead. And if it weren't for this show, who knows if I would have gone to the last six Bonnaroos.) 2. Kid A (arguably their best overall beginning to end album, but not QUITE my favorite) 3. OK Computer (this album has many of my all-time favorite songs, but the top three is too close to really differentiate)
4. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song has a very special meaning for me. Overall great album, underappreciated, and Pyramid Song is probably my favorite Radiohead song) 5. The King of Limbs (an album that is perfect for headphones and spacing out. Its even better live, so I'm excited to hear it first hand) 6. Hail to the Thief (First Radiohead album I ever purchased. Still great stuff) 7. The Bends (Wonderful songs but somethings got to go near the bottom) 8. Pablo Honey (because I honestly haven't listened to the entire album. I feel utterly ashamed of this and intend on changing that soon)
we know who the headliners are; RHCP, Radiohead, and Phish... Sooo what are we predicting again?! A Macca set that's not going to happen? A Neil Young set that's not going to happen? Done deal, get over it.
