So as a person thats only seen half of season 1, I notice that you all put Season 5 as the weakest. Still worth watching though, yes? Is it like the mid-day Sunday of Wire seasons?
Yes. As stated previously, season 5 has some of the best moments of the series (and my personal favorite scene) and is well worth watching. The worst Wire season is still better than most of what comes on tv.
how can you watch anything during this football game. its intense
really can't stand football... sunday night is shameless and house of lies for me... btw if you guys haven't seen house of lies check it out, don cheadle is worth at least one half hour of your life
You're saying they'll bring someone back to headline a year later as a repeat for the band they're more known for.
That's not exactly what I'm saying. I'm saying that someone playing Bonnaroo the year before would not necessarily have a negative effect on them playing the next year (especially if it's a different 'act').
The argument wasn't "Will Buffalo Springfield be a repeat this year". The argument was nkyguy implying that Roo wouldn't bring Neil Young back because he already played the year before. While you're right that some people may have gotten their "Neil fix" from that I felt it was very, very important to point out that they are not the same thing and I doubt that Bonnaroo would turn down Neil Young and say "Sorry dude....you already played last year".
I feel it's entirely possible that Roo could (and would) bring Neil Young back even though he played the year before. I wasn't trying to say that Stewart Copeland is the same draw as Neil Young is. I was simply pointing out that the situations are similar in the sense that someone "played with one band, was invited back to headline the next year as another act".
Fact is....Bonnaroo has and will repeat artists 2 years in a row. I could see Roo doing it this year for Neil Young but I highly doubt it'll happen (mostly because I'd LOVE for it to happen).
Just playing devils advocate, but if Atoms for Peace played last year I don't think people would be saying "Well Radiohead can't play this year because Thom Yorke was there last year. Roo is looking for something different".

i think the main point i was trying to make was that big names and headliners playing 2 years in a row (in whatever capacity) while possible, is such a rare thing to happen. when you add up all the headliners/big names, let's say top 6, throughout bonnaroo's history, only a very small percentage have returned the following year - outside of the sunday/jammy acts. i'm all for neil happening this year, just trying to be real about it. i can't say what percentage of a chance neil has of being there this year, but i'd say it's probably well under a 25% chance, which are not good odds.

Just for anyone wondering, the Ashley Capps tweet also said "but bonnaroo news will have to wait." So yeah, don't go crazy just yet, as there will likely be no Roo news tomorrow.
Here's the whole tweet in case anyone missed it/cares: ashleycapps Ashley Capps We have something fun to share tomorrow for sure...but #bonnaroo news must wait a bit.

This one. (Linked to protect spoilers for people who haven't seen it)
One of the best scenes of the show, definitely. Bubs' shining moment as a character, a career-defining scene for Andre Royo, and one of the most emotional scenes in the show, hands down. Good pick.

i just wish insider would pop up tonight and say: "hey guys. Neil Young & Crazy Horse is playing Roo this year; along with Talking Heads, Pixies, & Tom Waits."
That scene haunts my dreams. I think D is up there with Dookie as the series' most utterly tragic characters.
For whatever reason, I knew a lot of people who disliked D's character. Emphasis on "knew".
"Now you think Ronald Mcdonald gonna go down to that basement and say 'hey Mister Nugget, you the bomb! We sellin chicken faster than you can tear the bone out, so i'ma write my clowney-ass name on this fat ass check for you!' ...Shit."
tom waits good call, wasn't even thinking about him this year... that would be amazing if he played the farm. he'd probably get a big slot on which
I'd love to see him in the Primus slot from last year. Or the Robert Plant slot. Either is fine with me. Then again, as long as Tom Waits was there I'd be super happy.

Me too, then I could start planning other ways to spend that $200+ for a ticket.

Pretty sure we've stopped getting many Tom Waits predictions after someone tracked down an article or interview where he talked about not liking to perform at festivals. Something about being around smoking and alcohol, I think.
I think it was about the time of the Gogol Bordello/Les Claypool superjam Waits tribute. (2008?)
I think if we are looking at precedents for this band would play on this day at this time, then people are just ignoring the precedent of not having repeated headliners other than Phish, DMB, and WSP. Probably because that would nix Radiohead & everyone here wants them so badly. Repeat headliners have been jam bands, probably because not many could warrant the HL spot. If anyone is about to round up the "DMB is NOT a jam band" lynch mob, then quuuaaack off. Obviously they fit the bill to AC/SF.
That'd still leave the door open for Neil & CH. If they played the Farm the 1st couple of years, forgive me. My knowledge only goes back to my first Roo where my HL's were DMB & 2 nites of WSP. Even with that as my HL spots, I was addicted & have been back every year since--except 07 when I got a chance to go to Kenya basically for free. Have I loved (or even watched) all of the headliners? No. Have I loved every single year? Quuuaaack yes!
There is, but this list isn't allowed anywhere near it.
Sorry our opinions differ bud.
Hah, if you find the thread you'll see there is much back and forth debating Season 3 vs Season 4. I'm obviously a fan of Season 3, I just can't believe it's fourth on your list.
