I see a couple times for me that i would like to hit the pits twice in a row for back to back shows but I have to wonder with an hour between shows most of the time is that not enough time to slide out and then back in the pit line? I know the shows may not end exactly on time but in that case could you not leave the pits a tad early and then get back in line?

Depends how popular the acts are. If it's daytime it shouldn't be a problem. The ducking out early strategy works well. I was at a smaller festival in Maryland last year and my brother and I always would watch the final song from the back of the pit and then immediately get back in line, we were in the first couple rows in the pit for like 4 or 5 acts in a row.
Got in for both Jack Johnson/Pearl Jam. Also Stevie Wonder/Jay Z. Shouldn't really be a problem I wouldn't think.
Care to share the secret?
Just left the pit when the show was over and got right back in line. Simple enough I guess. They did stop letting people into Pearl Jam while I as in line. About 3 songs into their set I got in. Those were the only 2 times I ever tried so I am batting 1,000.

Have people had any success with getting people in line to save their spot midway through the day for a food run?
Like if I get there at noon waiting for MMJ and want to go to a pizza stand and right back at 3 or something, perhaps offering to buy my line neighbors food/water as well. I'd hate to think that a line mob wouldn't let me get back in my spot in that scenario.

It depends, I had a friend with me in ine and we would take turns getting water. But now I've learned to bring a backpack with enough water bottles, granola bars, and apples for the whole day! last year I ust dumped a ton of ice in it too!

If you're in line next to me then I'll save your spot.

You plan on getting in the pit line for MMJ at noon? That seems really early to me. I feel like you would not have a problem getting in the pit if you get in line a little after The Decemberists start. Unless of course you want the rail, then noon may be necessary.
I plan on lining up at least an hour early for MMJ. As far as saving other peoples spots go, I would do it but you probably would run into some characters that wouldn't. If I've been waiting in line for a few hours next to the same person, I have no problem saving a spot for them if they have to go pee or get water or whatever.

Yup, I'm aiming for the rail. Whether or not it's for MMJ or AF, I seriously can't make up my mind. But I'm relieved to hear that people are mostly cool about things like that. Thanks.
