jhammett's right about those brain cells. Running into a wall accidentally will cause them to die. You lose them all the time. That said, everyone can choose how they want to lose theirs I don't think he said anything overly rude (don't deny that smoking makes some people lazy, just like it makes some productive; everyone reacts differently), but some people who responded were pretty rude. Lighten up peoples! Enjoy your day!

Man......it is wild how some people can take a peacefull thread that is all in good fun and take a big dump on it. I said it before there is no need to bash, if you dont enjoy the activitys that happen on 420 then dont particapate, it is no diffrent then any other day except for the fact that something that is most of the time kept quiet is celebrated LOUD &PROUD. Jezze man, enjoy YOUR own life and dont worry about what others are doing if it has no direct effect on your life.
Enjoy today, and every day. You only live once!!!!!!!

Wowo I just got back online crazy tornados and lightening storms kept me up all night nice to see this thread has grown even with a few haters we see how democratic inforoo is. haters gonna hate and to quote Bill Hicks "If you don't believe NO NO WORD!!! have done good things for us, then go home and burn all your records, all your tapes, and all your CDs because every one of those artists who have made brilliant music and enhanced your lives where RrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrEAL quacking high on NO NO WORD!!!. The Beatles were so quacking high they let Ringo sing a few songs"

tell you what, if you want to know what its like to be really drunk, ask Druid.
really corned - well, throw a stone. you will probably hit someone on here who can give you the deetz.
and like others have said, in the "real world" you would be shocked at the number of midnight tokers out there. in my office alone, its probably ~20%. (and no, i do not work at a dispensary or art studio).
somehow, despite nomming on a cob from time to time, i have managed to become a manager in my company, pay of my car 3 years early, pay off a second mortgage early, have no cc debt, get to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, and have a reasonably active social life. shocking!
I didn't huff NO2, is was CO2, but they do the same thing, deprive your brain of oxygen, same with self asphyxiation, or holding your breath for long periods of time.
I don't really have the desire to experience, or be told what its like to be drunk or high. Some of the psychotropic drugs sound like they have some amazing effects, but I dont want to rot any holes in my brain right now.
I never claimed that you cannot be a successful casual drug user. I know several people who can say exactly what you said. and again, I don't have a problem with casual drug users. In fact, if you look up the Prop 8 thread, I was pro legalization for use on private property, despite never using it myself.
Candyflippedaround - Ill pass on your suggestion. My eating habits and like of exercise and sleep make me unhealthy enough as it is.
There is scientific evidence to support everything I said about killing brain cells, and I would post some of this evidence, but now that I don't have to read your posts, I don't see the point.
nah. the rheseus monkey test that supposedly proved marijuana kills braincells has been debunked. the scientist running the test pumped smoke into the rhesus monkeys for 5minutes at a time for 3 months, basically suffocating the monkeys. Oxygen depletion kills brain cells and can be aggravated by smoke, but marijuana does not inherently kill brain cells. there are multiple health benefits from its use
I didn't include marijuana use in my list because there isn't any research that proves, undeniably that it does kill brain cells. The things I listed were:
Loud Music - I read about this in popular science several years ago. Prolonged exposure to loud music, and loud repetitious noises can play hell on your central nervous system, which can effect your cardiovascular health, which adversely effects your brain. Sleep Deprivation - Causes abnormalities in blood pressure, which can be detrimental to brain cells Stress - Causes abnormalities in blood pressure, which can be detremintal to brain cells Junk Food - Can cause glucose imbalance, effective changing your blood chemistry, which over time will kill brain cells. Tobacco Use - Cigarette smoke constricts arteries, increases blood pressure, changes blood chemistry, lessens the amount of oxygen in blood, all bad for your brain cells.
Also, it is true that there are documented health benefits from marijuana use, but there is also a wealth of medical research that suggests that habitual cannabis use makes your more likely to develop various types of cancer as you age. Some studies say that habitual cannabis use makes you as much as 20% more likely to develop than cigarette smokers. Its not proof, but its not far from it either. Regardless, these numbers are not nearly as bad as the numbers for people who regularly use tanning beds.
ultimately, im trying to figure out your point about brain cells? a lot of things kill them. there are trade-offs in life. If you die without at least trying a few of those things... you probably missed a few great experiences.
I wasn't really trying to prove a point, I used the term "killing brain cells" as an analogy, then when someone corrected me about it, I just rattled off a few things that many people do that does kill brain cells.
There is scientific evidence to support everything I said about killing brain cells,
No there's not!
I do whole heartedly agree with you on people who make fun of others with disabilities.
I am sorry you had issues at birth that affected your sight. My son had some serious issues at birth as well and did not breathe well when he was born. He spent his first week of life in a bubble at the hospital and has dealt with asthma and breathing issues all his life. (He will be 18 in June BTW)
My list and explanations are above, keep in mind that I do not currently hold the opinion that cannabis use kills brain cells, and that I was using that as an analogy in my initial post.
Also, you don't need to be sorry about anything. Things still worked out OK. After all, life being tough just means God is afraid of your progress.
jhammett's right about those brain cells. Running into a wall accidentally will cause them to die. You lose them all the time. I have read somewhere that you kill approx 300 brain cells when you sneeze (from your head rocking back and forth). You have hundreds of billions of those little fuckers, you can afford you loose a few here and there.

I did not realize my making a broad generalization about drug ABUSERS would start such a shit storm, yet here we are. I will be sure to invest in some hip waders before I make another comment like that.
I hope everyone (Scrog included) has a great rest of the day, and a great tomorrow, and a great friday and saturday and Easter too.
Scrogg, I would be more bothered by your post, but I can't see it any more...
I couldn't care less about awesome points. They are a number that exists on a website. I'm not trying to win a popularity contest

My mother did not drink or do NO NO WORD!!! while pregnant with me. However, I did have a very complicated birth, and my umbilical cord ended up wrapped around my neck several times. As a result, I am legally blind in one eye. My brain works just fine though... I have a tested IQ of 151 (IQ test given by a Therapist in 2001)
However, I do want you to know that I think you are a peice of Leno for making fun of people with mental and physical handicaps that are beyond their control. I know you will claim that I never did this, but calling me an idiot, then suggesting that stupid because of fetal alcohol syndrome is a pretty clear example of you doing this, atleast in my opinion.
im guessing you are in your 20's.
it's great you have such a high IQ. I don't know what mine is, but I have a 10 inch schlong and the body of adonis.
ultimately, im trying to figure out your point about brain cells? a lot of things kill them. there are trade-offs in life. If you die without at least trying a few of those things... you probably missed a few great experiences.
I find it funny that fake hippies and stoners celebrate their ability to kill brain cells on Hitler's birthday. This ignorance reassures me that I am not missing out on anything by remaining sober.
Then you go on to make other statements, with out facts. Right off the bat you are calling people who celebrate 420 as being ignorant. If your IQ is 151 you know people who say April 20th is a holiday has nothing to do with Hitler, and making that connection is idiotic and stupid. Why do you do this? Why do you come into a thread to just start trouble? Be a "turd in the punch bowl?" That is what you are doing and now you have me writing this long ridiculous reply to things I did not do or offensives that I did not make.
Scrogg, I would be more bothered by your post, but I can't see it any more...
Well I will still respond.
I couldn't care less about awesome points. They are a number that exists on a website. I'm not trying to win a popularity contest
This is true, good point.
There is scientific evidence to support everything I said about killing brain cells, and I would post some of this evidence, but now that I don't have to read your posts, I don't see the point.
There is no proof of this, that is why you will not post it. Please inform, educate me!
My mother did not drink or do NO NO WORD!!! while pregnant with me. However, I did have a very complicated birth, and my umbilical cord ended up wrapped around my neck several times. As a result, I am legally blind in one eye.
I am sorry to hear this.
My brain works just fine though... I have a tested IQ of 151 (IQ test given by a Therapist in 2001)
Those are just numbers on a paper, but that does make you smarter than 95% of the population.
However, I do want you to know that I think you are a peice of Leno for making fun of people with mental and physical handicaps that are beyond their control.
Please someone tell me where I did this? I made a comment, "I am sure Steven Hawking has never done a pull-up or a push-up or jumped-a-rope, but his brains seems to work pretty well." I am not making fun of people with disabilities and not being able to jump rope, Jhammett, gave "lack of exercise" as a reason that kills brain cells and I was proving that there are people out their who can not exercise, yet are smarter than I or Jhammett can ever imagine, thus disproving his point. A lot of things were named for killing brain cells, all which were false. You did not mention the one legal drug, that many people consume everyday, alcohol, as a something that kills brain cells. I made a joke, a bad one at that, about your Mother being drunk when you were born. So if I owe anybody an "Apology" it would be to your mom.
I know you will claim that I never did this, but calling me an idiot, then suggesting that stupid because of fetal alcohol syndrome is a pretty clear example of you doing this, atleast in my opinion.
I think you are wrong. Me calling you and idiot and making a joke about you being that way because your mom was drunk when you were born, is not a joke on FAS, is not me "making fun of people with mental and physical handicaps that are beyond their control". I think this is a poor excuse by you for a sympathy vote, to say that it is. But maybe I am wrong, because some people seem to think I owe you an apology. Not sure why, maybe they can PM me and explain. I say PM, because this is a happy thread and I am pissed I am discussing this.

Yes you did include marijuana. Any oxygen depletion kills brain cells. Smoke inhalation can cause oxygen depletion. Marijuana in itself does not kill brain cells. marijuana smoke does not kill brain cells any more than the inhalation other smoke or depletion of oxygen. like others said, edibles & vapes
Also, a study was recently on NORMLs website that showed the anti-tumor properties of cannabis. From the NORML site:
"Of all the negative consequences of marijuana prohibition, none is as tragic as the denial of medicinal cannabis to the tens of thousands of patients who could benefit from its therapeutic use.
Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications.[4] These include pain relief -- particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage) -- nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders.[5] Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia.[6] Emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors[7] and are neuroprotective."

Yay, now if I could just figure out where the other 2 went....
Scrog, my post is just 2 posts above yours, and I tried to address all of the comments I had gotten. I explained how each of those things that I listed has a negative effect on your brain, but I did forget the lack of exercise, so I will address it quickly.
I do not mean to sound demeaning when I explain this, but I want to make sure everyone is one the same page. Your brain depends exclusively on your heart and cardiovascular system to deliver the oxygen it needs to survive. It should be easily understood that the healthier your cardiovascular system is, the healthier your brain is. In the event of poor cardiovascular health, be it high blood pressure, poor blood circulation, or abnormal blood chemistry, your brain is simply not getting the necessary amount of oxygen. The more you deprive your brain of oxygen, the faster your brain dies.
A lack of exercise, by an able bodied person, while not disastrous to your brain in itself, can cause plenty of medical and mental health conditions that can lead to poor cardiovascular health, which will kill brain cells. Medical conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, etc. Mental health conditions include, but are not limited to; stress, anxiety, and insomnia, for which physical exercise is often the best cure.
A complete lack of exercise, such as in the case of those people whom are confined to a wheelchair can lead to horrible cardiovascular health if their nutrition is not carefully planned and monitored. Without proper precaution, the face an even greater danger risk of decaying health. You can be sure that Mr Hawking's nutrition and cardiovascular condition is being carefully monitored. Even then, it is not likely that he will live out the common life expectancy.

If you read my second post, at the bottom of the first page, this is what it said regarding cannabis killing brain cells:
I used that term as reference to the typical laziness of someone who is high. I am not saying that stoners are always lazy, but they usually are while under the influence. By the way, you would be suprised to know exactly what does kill brain cells... loud music, junk food, sleep deprivation, stress, lack of exercise, tobacco use... the list goes on and on.
I addressed this pretty early on. Also, as I have also said atleast 3 times in this thread, I have no problem with casual drug users, and was pro prop 8. You can even look at the Prop 8 thread if you can find it.

I have read what you said, but I don't think you know what you are saying. You can stick to your claims, but that doesnt mean theyre not incorrect. It's like Trump claiming Obama was born outside the US. Its a false claim and sticking to false claims mean nothing
