Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So i do not expect this to be up that long, but seriously, what the heck is going on around Inforoo this year ??? I mean, people are up and leaving the forum, newbies getting treated like dirt or worse yet, getting chastised for asking questions and such.
When I first joined Inforoo, it was one of the coolest places around because of the warm vibe and the overall good nature of people helping others get ready for one of the best music festivals around...Bonnaroo. Any question that I had went answered and people were beyond helpful for me that first year...without this board, my experience might have really suffered.
Now I look around and it doesn't even seem like the same site anymore. People bashing people for asking questions. newbies getting insulted all the time. Dedicated members leaving more often than some people realize...
Am I the only one that is noticing this? Surely other longer tenured members of this place have to be aware of what's going on...

This is still a very useful website if you're looking to share information. If you're into personal stuff and petty arguments that get your panties in a bunch then it probably has always been shitty. As is often the case most people do more talking than listening. In this case most people new to inforoo would be better served reading as opposed to posting.
I have received a lot of good information here, hell I was about to show up with a tent with no shade and call myself well prepared.
It worries me that people are saying Bonnaroo is less special. I've been waiting to go to this festival for about 5 years and frankly I thought I'd never have the money or opportunity to go. Not to make it sound more then it is, but it has been some what of a dream of mine. I hope when its all said and done that I go without any major let downs.

I've noticed one particular person on the board that is AWFUL about bashing people's music taste. Posting JUST to say "That band is awful" is pretty pointless.
3/24- The Greenhornes 3/31- Queens of the Stone Age performing Queens of the Stone Age. 4/27- Arcade Fire w/ The National 5/19- Primus 6/09-6/12- Bonnaroo! 6/13- Ray Lamontagne 7/04- Florence and the Machine with fireworks.

Bonnaroo is and always will be special in my eyes...I hope you see the same things I see. Regardless of what ANYONE (including myself) says, your experience should be your own and i hope amazing.
Again, simply put, this place of Inforoo used to be like that as well and in my eyes, a LOT has changed. I just hope it goes back.

Very well said. I actually had a Roo veteran try to talk me out of going a few years back, based off of his "nightmare" experience.
I went that year, and have gone back every year since. Roo, like anything in life, is what you make of it. If you go there beaming with optimism and excitement, only you can turn that into a negative experience. If you don't like an act, guess what? There are other acts playing. Some of my best Roo experiences were unplanned, winging-it-in-the-moment adventures that I could have never forseen happening.
My advice for anyone worried about the negativity surrounding Roo: ignore it. Go there with an open mind, take it all in and don't let someone else take away from your excitement.
Roo is one of the happiest places on Earth and just because people are disappointed with the status of headliners, or something petty of that nature, doesn't mean it won't rock and get you hooked.

I just ignore all the BS and don't get caught up in it. I tend to be a very happy and optimistic person, so a few people acting like morons really isn't going to change that.
As far as Roo is concerned, it is totally my happy place and I can't imagine it being any other way for me. This will be my 6th Bonnaroo and I really feel like it is what you make it. I've never had a bad expericence there.
I've only been posting a couple of months so I can't speak to how Inforoo "used to be".
That being said, I find it very informative especially if you catch on that you should look for a thread before you start one. That seems to be the biggest faux pas that people point out. It took me starting one stupid thread to figure that out.
Problems with people bashing each other's opinions or points of view happen but it's like life. Approach it with a sense of humor and avoid those who seem to just seem to sh!t on everyone else's point of view.

I cant speak for how Roo or the boards 'used to be'. Have worked damn hard for many years and my escape for a few years now has been getting to the sunny islands.. All easy going. Did my Roo virgin trip last year after sending my man and his son to Roo. For me it was the most love, peace, sharing amazing experience I've had. Fairly to highly crowd phobic and never felt a twinge! Worst thing that happened was some chick intentionally stole my lighter. Think i can live with that.
Amazing experience! And we had some huge $ logistical CFs that could have seriously brought us down but our crew is all about .. let it go.. enjoy. Its Roo
Who.. as long as you can take it all in and enjoy the 99% that is all Roo good, and be mindful of the 1% thats not.. you will be at the farm in June for every year as long as you can. It is magical. You can decide how you take it all in. I don't think you will be disappointed.
One of the best parts is people watching.. Saw this guy wearing horns and a clock.. laughed myself silly. Now I see grasshopper!
I don't post much but I read a lot on here and see the occasional thread bashing but almost always there's another poster who either answers the question or comment or who links to a similar thread. Overall Inforoo posters go well beyond civil and this is a unique Forum, much as Bonnaroo is a unique experience. There will always be a few people who get their jollies from jumping on someone for a minor breach of etiquette or whatever you want to call it but for the most part, Inforooers seem like a pretty cool group.

Friday for you Mike Z. Bunch of us Noobs to Inforoo have dared to break the ice and post. That said Pondo has a point. Admit to being a stalker for a long, long time before even thinking about posting. Much much much love, karma, coco's and Friday's to the info roosters that made the Noobs feel welcome once we worked up the chutzpah to post. (Agree, be smart, read, learn as much as possible first as to how it works.) Thanks to all that embody the spirit. : )
While some people can be a little harsh on the noobs, you have to look at it from a regular stand point too. This is a year round board and from the end of June til the beginning of Feb its just the regulars here who go about their business everyday. Then something happens at the beginning of Feb where there is an influx (a huge influx) of noobs who just pop up, make posts without reading through the board, and post the same damn questions over and over. If they would take the time to just read a little they would find their answer but I understand the majority of people are too lazy.
But like anything on the internet....its not that serious. If someone is getting under your skin, ignore them. Most of the veterns really do try to help
I wrote a long thing about this earlier today only to delete it. In short, it's important to encourage people new to the boards. Diversity of thoughts and ideas is a good thing even if the people offering the diversity use their first post asking a stupid, repetitive question. It's true inforoo turns barren from mid-June to Feb. But I don't want to be the one to squash a new friendship just because s/he made the mistake to ask a question that's been answered over and over. I was there once. It's important to just be respectful. Even if the "noob" is asking how security is this year or some other repeatedly asked and answered question. Nothing brings life and excitement to inforoo like the posts of first timers.
For the record moderation team, and I'm posting this here because I'm sure you'll look in this thread, I do chat in the place of unnamed terror. So I guess I should probably be banned for not breaking any rules like nodepression, willsfc, and all the other bros. I just figured what's fair is fair.
Well and let's not pretend that "back in the old days" there wasn't bashing and harsh treatment of noobs and long arguments -- ahem, I may have been baited into some of those, ahem -- it happens all the time.
And the boards are finally old enough that we're seeing old and new cycle in and out - it's healthy.
Find the vibe, find your tribe, hug them hard and ignore the jackholes.

I feel like it's the same every year.
If you are a new member and you post semi-coherently and follow the most basic of guidelines (don't make a thread about eminem when there's one 5 posts down with 8 pages of discussion, take a few seconds to look around and see where you're posting and IF somebody already has an active thread on that topic) then you usually don't get much of a hassle.
Also, some new posters do not understand the sense of humor of other longer posters on here so they take things more personally then is actually intended.
There's always a ton of new people who flood the boards. The ones that bother me the most are the ones who seem like they've NEVER been on ANY message board on the internet ever. They can be annoying but it's not always their fault.
I just ignore all the BS and don't get caught up in it.
Seeing how these are my initials, I am taking this personally
Okay, just kidding, but yeah my initials are BullSh!t
I see both sides of he coin, the lazy newbie who doesn't take the time to research and so they start a random harmless thread that has already been created. Why? Maybe boards difficult to navigate (although I do not think so, it could be overwhelming to others). Who knows, but multiple threads on the same topic I can see how this can irritate others, but why it bothers them so much, IDK. Maybe they don't have a life outside the computer, this is there life. Either way, I am okay with a little sarcastic joking around(aka tough love), but also redirect the new ones, by linking the thread they are looking for and then give them a hug and say, "Welcome".
The thing that gets me so worked up is when you see legitimate threads get hijacked because people are trying to be funny. It's never funny for the one being bullied.....
Someone said something earlier about the "pack" mentality.
Just the other day I saw a thread where a noob was getting harrassed by some of the regulars. Another noob, with like 6 posts and one week on here joined right in and started bashing as well.
I thought, is this that person attempt to avoid being bashed themselves? I mean come on, 6 posts and registered less than a week, and alredy following suit. That's sad!!!
