They should do 2 latenight Which shows one night. Someone like primus/lil wayne/whoever can play 11:30-1:30 and then SCI 2:30-5. That would be ideal :-D
They will not be starting at 2:30 am. It is more likely that they start from 12:30-5 than them starting that late. I see them in the Flaming Lips spot from last year. If anyone has seen their Rothbury show, it is quite the spectacal and I'm hoping they bring out something special. Still wouldn't be the same theatrics as the Flips, but the vibe would be similar. I'm gonna be there front row and I can't wait!
Not as bad as Primus being billed after Girl Talk.
I honestly did not even notice how low primus was billed... thats ridiculous! Billed behind Girl Talk AND Bassnectar. I was expecting/hoping latenight which for primus, but now I'm thinking latenight tent at best or which stage
i could see bassnectar opening for them on which late night.
is bassnectar "big enough" to play late night which? maybe. maybe not.
NYE 2006 bassnectar actually came out to do dubuasca and SCI jammed over it.
I can't imagine Bassnectar would get a which spot.. I was thinking more along the lines of Primus>SCI A Bassnectar/SCI collab would be awesome though
i agree its hard to imagine, but think for a minute
even though their music is nothing alike, the one thing The Black Keys and Bassnectar have in common is that they exploded in popularity over the past year. also they both grabbed late nights last year and were both invited back this year. Black Keys were moved up to headliner status. i just dont want to think that AC/S invited Bassnectar back to give him the exact same slot as last year. hell even MGMT went from thursday night to saturday late late-night.
i think if he can fill the civic center in asheville he can open for SCI on which.

Maybe you're right. I mean, shit, hes billed wayyyyy high up. I thought primus was a lock for LN Which, but Bassnectar is a few spots over them. I love bassnectar, but personally I think he was fine in a tent and and a move up to Which latenight would be a waste of the slot. LN Which is known for epic shows like NIN, Flaming Lips, Sigur Ros... Bassnectars not quite there. And, big as he is, he's not nearly to the same level as Deadmau5 or Tiesto, who both played tents. Personally I think the only electro DJ acts who are Big enough and deserving enough of a LN which slot are Deadmau5 and Chemical Brothers (I'd include daft punk but they would play What)

i agree with everything you say about "epic shows".
SCI would be that epic show (just look at rothbury videos)
bassnectar would just be an easy setup to put up and take down while SCI's already set up beforehand. there would only need to be like a 30 minute break instead of an hour. like mstrkrft -> bisco 2008.
and bassnectar pulls a similar fanbase as SCI (even though their music is completely different.)
more than likely he will get a tent again, but i just think with all the potential for latenight this year i wouldnt be suprised if a DJ opened for said "epic show" on a stage like in the earlier days of bonnaroo.

shiiiit.. you're right... I partied too much in 08, my memory is hazy. I coulda SWORE I saw them on a stage
side note: I had to look over the 08 schedule to believe you, and looking over this now is infuriating. There were so many bands I love today that I missed in 08 and didn't even know about

That could work I suppose. I think it's definitely time for double which latenights
But yeah, I want to get a little more into SCI. What live stuff do yall recommend?
I have the String Cheese Incident Live at Bonnaroo CD and it's amazing.. it's what got me in to them. I honestly wasn't even at that show, wish I was though ;D Now I can finally see them! Hope there's no conflicts, but chances are there will be ...

First saw SCI at Bonnaroo 2004, and they have been my favorite live act ever since (Robert Randolph is a close 2nd). I remember the heat beating me down, and the "no-no words" messing with my mind halfway through the show. SCI broke out "Give It Away" by RHCP, and it got me right back in the groove. Their 2007 Bonnaroo first set was great, but kinda died after Keller left early in the 2nd set. I recommend downloading any of their New Year's or Hullaween shows since they are longer and filled with rare covers. 10/21-10/22 2005 at the Fox are my personal favorites though

I'm not a big fan of their recorded material but I saw them on the Big Summer Classic tour in 2005 and they were memorable enough for me to still think about that gig

mos definitely the band i am looking forward to seeing the most. SCI brings a crowd of their own which will make the weekend on the farm much much more interesting... Amazing live show. Hoping they play at the same time as little wayne. Sad that we are not seeing an EOTO set though. EOTO goes hard.

Thanks for the youtube post. What a great visual atmosphere they have. Hope this does not conflict with Dr. John/superjam latenight tent stuff. Are these guys known to do really long sets? (3.5-5 hours)

They usually do 2 sets. With the setbreak and encore it could push 4 hours maybe. I'm predicting Flaming Lips spot from last year. Friday night 12-4 or somewhere around there. And if either of the Superjams are scheduled at the same time it will be heartbreaking to me
SCI is the biggest reason I'm making it back to the farm this year. I've been going to their shows since '99 and they bring the heat. There is just no way they can play less than an hour from my home and not go there.
ps- Please don't quack me roo and put SCI and Sts9 at the same time like in 07.
I've been waiting for them to be on the farm since I started going in 08. The only thing I can see keeping me from this show would be if there was a gypsy punk Superjam at the same time. But they wouldn't do that to me would they?
Just curious, I saw people saying this may be the last chance to see them.. why is that? Just because they don't tour anymore or are they officialy calling it quits soon?

They stopped touring in '07. Their late night at Bonnaroo in '07 was one of their last shows of their tour (i know they did a weekend at Red Rocks like a month later to end it all). Ever since they've played a few times a year at their favorite Colorado spots, and the occasional festival. They haven't played anywhere in the south as far as I know, and I doubt they'll be in Tennessee ever again. So glad I get to see them one more time because they really do put on a tremendous live show. No conflict here, I wouldn't miss this even if Paul McCartney and Jesus were doing a Superjam on another stage.
I only learned of STI after the lineup was released and we are definitely going to their set after Dr. John. They are scheduled to play until 3 but so was MMJ in 2008...I'm wondering if any of the more knowledgeable STI fans have and idea how long they might play for or could play for? Is there a possibility they could go till sunrise?

I'm also doing the post-Dr. John thing, and I think SCI will play pretty late. I'll be slightly disappointed if they don't considering the Which late night slot has become somewhat of a big deal in recent years.
