For all of you that are excited for Wiz Khalifa and Big Boi, or disappointed that Black Star wasn't on the lineup, please check out J. Cole.
He is putting out some of the best music right now in rap, and he is starting to blow up. Check out his latest mixtape "Friday Night Lights". I saw him live and he put on a great show.

The only reason I chose to share FNL is because it grabs good ones from a few different mixtapes such as those. All of his mixtapes are dope, I cant wait to see him again. His Charleston show was awesome

There isn't a single shared song between FNL and The Warm Up, as far as I'm aware, but whatever. They're both dope, The Come Up is good but it's a bit older (2007?) so it's a little raw.
Also check out his mixtapes "The Warm Up" and "The Come Up," as both are fire. Hell, they might be better than "FNL," and that's saying something.
Thanks for the suggestions. Any idea if he's preparing an album?
Supposedly. It's one of those things that's been "just around the corner" for a minute now. IIRC, he dropped his first single last summer, so no idea what the hold up is.

holy Quack i just got his friday night lights mixtape, i have been missing out. dudes for real, im easily as excited for this as any of the hip hop acts now
i got friday night lights a few months ago when it dropped, its really good. last i heard on the album was it was supposed to be out this spring. so i am lookin forward to that.
I've listened to The Come Up and The Warm Up and my reaction was - meh. I thought Grown Simba and Lights Please were alright, but I doubt I'll see his set. I'll have to check out Friday Night Lights and see if that changes my opinion
I have extra love for J. Cole, being that he comes out of NC. He is very hard working. Most people probably don't know he handles most of his production work himself. He is a good beat maker in addition to his mic skills.
I believe his debut album is currently slated more release in March, but I don't think that'll hold. He has been trying to release the album for what seems like forever, hopefully it will see the light of day sooner than later. But in the meantime I'll keep listening to his awesome mixtapes.
Just downloaded the Come Up and the Warm Up off DatPiff, gonna listen to them tonight when I'm skatin ... FNL is easily one of the best mixtapes ever, can't believe he doesn't even have an album yet.

If you like FNL, you'll love the Warm Up; it's even better.

Album Before The Album is good, but it's all old/previously released stuff...it's been floating around for a while, just compiled with a new cover. Still solid, but not on the level of the first three, real, mixtapes.
