Bootsy was near the middle of my "to see" list until I had a dream last night that he was a serial killer. I had to team up with Oprah to stop him, but then it all just devolved into an awesome jam session.
And I realize I probably just revealed too much about my own personality and am moving on now...
Bootsy has been promoted to my "must see" list.
Bootsy/Oprah/That Dan Guy superjam?

Funk University is the name of his new album, if you look at the collabs there you can get a pretty good idea of who will be with him.
Tracklist of new album
‘Tha Funk Capitol Of The World’:
1. Intro 2. Hip Hop @ Funk U (ft. Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, & Chuck D) 3. Mirrors Tell Lies (ft. Jimi Hendrix) 4. JB-Still The Man (ft. Rev. Al Sharpton) 5. Freedumb (ft. Dr. Cornel West) 6. After These Messages (ft. Samuel L. Jackson) 7. Kool Whip (ft. Phil Ade & iCandice) 8. The Real Deal (ft. Sheila E. & iCandice) 9. Don’t Take My Funk (ft. Catfish Collins & Bobby Womack) 10. If Looks Could Kill (ft. Bela Fleck, Zionplanet-10, & Dennis Chambers) 11. Minds Under Construction (ft. Buckethead & (Z-Class)) 12. Siento Bombo (ft. Olvido Ruiz & Ouiwey) 13. Garry Shider Tribute (ft. George Clinton & Linda Shider) 14. Stars Have No Names (They Just Shine) (ft. Nick Arnold & Chrissy Dunn) 15. Chocolate Caramel Angel (ft. Faith Daniels, Ronni Racket, & Casper) 16. Yummy, I Got The Munchies (ft. Musiq Soulchild, Razzberry Hershey & Tom Joyner)
so there looks like a big possibility of Bela Fleck coming out for some of the show.
Moments like that are why Bela always totes around the electric Rickenbacker banjo.

How about we go with just Bootsy and his crew? We'd all be better off for that!

I had never heard of Bootsy before this lineup. I have always been a casual P-Funk fan but never really looked into the band. Saw this guy checked him out on grooveshark. Can't wait to see him, it's gonna be sick. Could you imagine a bass off between Bootsy, Wooten, and Claypool. SICK

If these 3 aren't on stage together at one point, I'm going to be so disappointed.

i cant wait for bootsy. the funk university is a big mystery. i will not be too surprised if buckethead is there. bootsy and buckethead have made appearances together already this year. buckethead is on bootsys new cd. also, bootsy mentioned bucketheads bass playng abilities on twitter, and he said that he will be touring this year. we all know buckethead IS touring this year. and bootsy is goin to announce his new line up of funk university professors soon. last year flea and claypool were professors. i wont be surprised to see him name buckethead as a professor this year. and buckethead is playing wakarusa, maybe he will join widespread panic and come play roo as well.

I reeeeally want Cornel West to show up for this set. In fact I want him to do a set of his own where he just talks to the crowd about things. Hearing him speak is like suddenly becoming aware of your own mind and its potential for greatness. Also I think Samuel L. would be cool too. I need to get this album asap
All right so I feel like Bootsy really got screwed by the schedule. Playing at the same time as Dr. John, Alan Toussaint, and the Meters.
My question is - does anyone know what to expect from Bootsy's set? Who is he going to be playing with? And how much does he actually play bass anymore? I've seen comments about people seeing him before/after Bonnaroo, so I was hoping for some insight to what to expect.
My mind changes every five minutes between Bootsy and Dr. John. What does help is that I have no personal conflicts with the Superjam, so I will for sure see Dr. John on the farm - I don't wanna miss Desitively Bonnaroo though. Will it be worth it?
is there a chance that some of the funk university professors will be with him? because he just announced that jack bruce is a new professor, that would be sick if jack was with him.

I'm so sad to say this because I started this thread, but I think I'll be missing his set for Dr John/Meters/Toussaint. He really did get shafted in the schedule.
However we just got tix to see Bootsy in San Fran the weekend before Roo. I will report back with my findings.

I think I maybe one of the few who is gonna skip most of dr. john and see bootsy. I know I'm missing a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it's just... Bootsy!?! I'm fairly certain that Les is gonna be there and if Bootsy Claypool Wooten and/or Buckethead are on stage together I'm going to pee myself.

This was/is the biggest conflict on the schedule for me personally. I've decided on Bootsy for a few different reasons. Primarily I've been playing bass for around 12 years now and I've never had the privilege of seeing Bootsy live. I know Dr. John and Allen Tousaint are legends in their own right, but I would rather witness a legendary bassist bringing some nasty funk to the Farm late night over watching two amazing piano legends (again this is my preference, in no way am I belittling what that Dr. John set will be capable of). Secondly, I am VERY interested to see what guests Bootsy brings with him to the farm. I have a hunch that his late night will be a non-stop dance party with a lot of help from great guest appearances. Thirdly my cannot miss/will not miss for anything late night set is Gogol Bordello, and watching Bootsy tear down The Other Tent will put me (hopefully) as close to front and center for the Gogol set as possible.
