I still think U2 will be the late addition Saturday night headliner and Eminem will be late night. Not a big fan of U2 but Eminem is very hard to believe. The whole gap in the U2 tour just doesn't make a lot of sense unless Bono needs to save the world around June 7th or some bullhonkey like that. Considering the Nashville show is sold out and most of the big festivals are selling out. I wouldn't announce U2 as a headliner until late in the game so fans could buy tickets. Maybe a coincidence that's been pointed out so many times before. Leno just doesn't add up. What the quack was Thom thinkin...
I don't think that's the way the festival organizers think. I don't think that they care if "true fans" get to purchase tickets, they would rather ensure a sell out.
I think it is doubly true that they'd like to sell out quicker than Coachella. In fact, a quick sell out this year helps them sell tickets next year. ('Don't get left behind this year, get your tickets before they're gone!')
Eminem may not be everyone's idea of a Bonnaroo headliner but that's who we've got and they really are a "get" for the festival -- a unique headliner that is phenomenally successful both critically and commercially.
(And, unlike you, I would be thrilled with U2 headlining.)
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

So when I was looking at the artists list yesterday, it all ended clean on one line, and now Hayes Carll is on a line by himself at the bottom. Did something get added already?

AC/Superfly would never let a headliner be a late addition unless it were absolutely necessary (Widespread in 08 after Allmans cancellation). Thats just bad business tactics, and lets not fool ourselves. Bonnaroo IS a business and very well-oiled machine of a business at that
According to FB, tickets are selling at record rates.
I really don't think that U2 will be at Roo (I wouldn't mind though). I do however like the idea of Eminem playing latenight. I think that would be more fitting and I also think that would give a good spot to a 2nd round addition.
I dont why people keep saying that no big name acts are likely to be added. Bright eyes and black star was brought up as the biggest likely. hahaha i doubt that ..have a look at the past years additions. 2008 was les claypool and WSP( i know the allman brothers cancelled but i think more Rooers Like Wsp than allman brothers so that was big!) i doubt anyone like raDIOHEAD WILL BE ADDED, however i could see bands like Cake or similiar popularity being added. and i also expect a real big name comedian( i mean after Conan last year..so matching that would be expected at least). i would say that at least 5 bad a$$ bands will be added so shut up about Bright eyes being the biggest> who is that anyway ..a cafe stage act..?
Avett Brothers had a big show last year - they won't be there this year.
Publicity email says it will be 125 bands, 20 comedians. They released 89 acts so far.
I thought I heard a Cage the Elephant rumor going around not too long ago...
I thought on the website it said something about "over 150 bands" which is how many they usually have. Not saying you're wrong, just trying to clarify.

Does anyone else think they need to add a good-sized DJ/Electronic name? Especially with Bassnectar being the biggest on the lineup currently and he was there last year. ZOMG MAYBE IT'LL BE DAFT PUNK.
But seriously, Fatboy Slim would make me insanely happy, and he's playing Lollapalooza Chile so it's not completely out of the question.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Thats a good point. A lot of people have said the the electro lineup is lacking.
Electro/dance lineup may be lacking but it's looking like the late night tents are looking stacked already with Pretty Lights followed by STS9 (assuming Friday) and Bassnectar followed by Girl Talk (assuming Saturday). For everyone who likes this stuff, I'm not too into it, but I hope they bring back the Lunar Stage.
I'd also expect to see Ratatat followed by Explosions in the Sky as a late night.

electronic acts seem to be added normally. i know tiesto was added in 08. cant remember if oakenfold was on the initial or not in 09. and last year we had the lunar stage as an addition. id assume we get a 2 or 3 electronic acts including a big name added. also hopefully the lunar stage will be back.
and for whoever called bright eyes a 'cafe act', come on now seriously? both bright eyes and black star would be top 20 adds to the lineup.

The Lunar Stage announcement should bring in plenty more electronic music. I wouldn't expect anyone too huge, but Crystal Method was on it last year, so someone with that level of name recognition isn't out of the question. But overall I would expect about 5 or 6 more electronic acts. Can't remember the exact number announced with the Lunar Stage last year.
Edit - There were 11 acts announced with the Lunar Stage last year, so I'd think it reasonable to expect about the same this year.
I'm pretty satisfied with the electronic/dance area, but could still see another big name DJ in the adds.
Honestly, I couldn't be less satisfied with the electronic aspect of the lineup thus far, but I'm really happy with the lineup in general. We'll see what happens with the additions. To me, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, and Girl Talk at the top of the electronic representation is really weak; not only because I'm not a fan of any of those artists except for maybe Girl Talk, but also because all three are more or less festival whores.
